The Greatest Village Doctor In The World
Chapter 2747 - 2745: Once Endured Hardships
After embracing for a while, Ling Feng and Song Ruozhao released each other, both finding relief in their open-hearted connection.
"Brother Song, now that we’ve opened up to each other, and agreed to support each other’s paths in the future, I won’t hide anything from you."
Ling Feng finally overcame the barriers in his heart, deciding not to keep secrets any longer. He took out the Mirror of Soul’s Fear, obtained from a mysterious space at the cave entrance, and introduced it to Song Ruozhao:
"This is the magic mirror I obtained by trading with a heaven-defying demon of the Demon Clan when I released it from its seal. This magic mirror was originally the magic artifact used to imprison the demon, but now it’s in my possession."
Ling Feng pondered for a moment. Although he decided to stop guarding himself against Song Ruozhao, the seal of the Chaos Sword and his current inability to fully control it remained his biggest secret.
After weighing his options, Ling Feng decided not to disclose the specifics of his trade with the demon. Still, Ling Feng didn’t see this as playing tricks; he was just watching out for Song Ruozhao, because who doesn’t have their little secrets?
While they might work together on major events in the future and possibly share cultivation insights, Ling Feng felt he had to keep some things to himself since Song Ruozhao wasn’t his closest kin. Even with his kin, he would be cautious, let alone others.
Song Ruozhao looked at the small magic mirror, which immediately expanded to its original human-sized form as Ling Feng tossed it into the air. Examining the mirror, Song Ruozhao murmured:
"Brother Ling Feng, how can you make a trade with a demon? You should know that the Demon Clan is synonymous with evil and cunning everywhere, and trading with them carries the risk of corruption."
Ling Feng shrugged with a smile: "Just getting what I need..."
"Do you know why the demon was sealed, and who sealed it?" Song Ruozhao pressed.
"I know a bit..." Ling Feng explained the events involving Lu Wutong and Chao Yan to Song Ruozhao, but withheld some information about the Chaos Sword’s owner.
Because, at the moment, Ling Feng didn’t want too many people to know the history of his Chaos Sword trump card.
"Chao Yan... Lu Wutong... such strange names, are there such powerful and proud beings among the Human Race?" Song Ruozhao mused aloud,
"It only makes me more curious. I yearn to meet those prodigies in the great world outside and see how I measure up against them!" Song Ruozhao declared spiritedly.
Ling Feng, however, said with a chuckle: "Perhaps Lu Wutong is no longer around. Though I believe he was extraordinarily powerful even 100,000 years ago, that much time has passed. Even if he wasn’t killed by enemies, "
"He might have died of old age by now. If not, he would probably be an old man with white hair."
The thought made Song Ruozhao chuckle kindly at Ling Feng’s assumption, then he explained:
"Brother Ling Feng, you would be gravely mistaken to think like that. Do you know how old I am?"
"Aren’t you over three thousand years old? Including the days you were sealed..." Ling Feng queried in surprise, not knowing why Song Ruozhao asked.
Song Ruozhao shook his head: "Do you know how old I was before I was sealed?"
"No idea." Ling Feng shook his head; who would know? Besides, Ling Feng didn’t believe Song Ruozhao was that old before being sealed. Having been a prodigious talent and divine hero in the Nine Provinces, he couldn’t have been that old, right?
Song Ruozhao laughed: "I was over nine hundred years old when I was sealed that year!"
"What? You were already over nine hundred years old then? But you’re just a cultivator of the Human Race!" Ling Feng exclaimed, understanding that cultivation could extend a cultivator’s lifespan, but he thought it was generally around two hundred years.
Nine hundred-plus years was a number far beyond Ling Feng’s understanding, a longevity many members of the Devil Clan could achieve.
In different worlds, the Devil Clan and Demon Clan naturally live much longer than humans. The Devil Clan typically experiences five hundred-year cycles, facing heavenly tribulations that grow progressively harder, making it a noteworthy feat to endure two cycles and live a millennium.
Devil Clan members who complete nine cycles can choose to reincarnate as humans or continue cultivating as Devils.
Those who cultivate as humans can gain greater cultivation talent, but transferring from the Devil Clan’s world to the human realm is an arduous and bold choice, fraught with contention and struggles that many Devils avoid.
Continuing as the Devil Clan means enduring millennia of thunder tribulations in the future, a far riskier path.
Demon Clan lifespans often multiply those of the Devil Clan, naturally lengthy without threat of heavenly tribulations, yet many demons die young due to their inherent violent madness.
No path is without difficulties, but the Human Race’s lifespan is thus typically the shortest among many races.
Song Ruozhao laughed heartily: "Indeed, I was over nine hundred years old back then, longer-lived than many in the Nine Provinces. Do you know my original identity?"
