Xu Chang’an offered a casual explanation.

Based on the Peacock King’s previous personality, she would never have asked him something like that.

Where he was and what he was doing had nothing to do with the Peacock King.

She would never have bothered to pay attention to his affairs.

But now…

He had a feeling that the relationship between him and Chu Xianyi was subtly different than before.

But he couldn’t quite put his finger on what had changed.

Xu Chang’an had thought he was late returning to the Spiritual Boat, but to his surprise, some Demon Fiends returned even later than he did.

They waited for seven whole days before the last Demon Fiend finally returned to the Spiritual Boat.

The last to return was the Demon Fiend Blood-toothed Crocodile Ling Feng.

His sharp teeth were bared, glinting with a cold light that made him look utterly terrifying.

However, his aura seemed somewhat weak.

It was clear he had been through a grueling battle on the Ancient Verdant Wood.

After Blood-toothed Crocodile Ling Feng returned, the One-Horned Elder appeared before the assembled Demons.

“All surviving Demon Fiends have now returned! I congratulate you all once again!”

“Now, prepare for our return journey!”

As the One-Horned Elder’s Primordial Spirit Power flared, the Spiritual Boat floating in mid-air began to accelerate, eventually transforming into a streak of light and shooting toward the horizon.

‘So few Demon Fiends are left.’

Xu Chang’an lamented inwardly as he looked at the sparsely scattered Demon Fiends around him.

He didn’t know the status of the Iron-Cracking Level and Shangyang Level Demon Fiends at the front of the Spiritual Boat.

But judging from the Demon Fiends who had returned around him, the death rate for this mission was extremely high.

In the rear of the Spiritual Boat, out of the nearly one thousand Demon Fiends who had set out, fewer than two hundred remained alive.

More than half of the Demon Fiends had fallen in the Cyan Wood World, on the Ancient Verdant Wood.

Xu Chang’an didn’t know if these fallen Demon Fiends had died at the hands of the Demon Slaying Cyan Dragon Worms or at the hands of their fellow Demon Fiends.

But he understood one thing: the Demon Path was not an easy one. Death and the dissipation of one’s soul could come at any time.

Even those as powerful as Ji Meng Level still risked death when faced with a Ten Thousand Legs Blue Evil Cyan Dragon Worm!

‘Ji Meng Level!? No, that’s far from enough! Only a Fei Lian Level Demon Fiend, capable of controlling an entire city, can truly establish a foothold in this Great Realm!’

Fei Lian Level, the title for the Seventh Stage of a Demon Fiend!

He wasn’t sure if it was just an illusion, but the return trip felt much faster than the journey there.

Using an Array for teleportation, the Spiritual Boat quickly left the Cyan Wood World.

The Cyan Wood World was an Affiliated World of the Great Realm Di Jun.

And Affiliated Worlds were different from ordinary worlds.

An Affiliated World and its Great Realm had a relationship of mutual inclusion. In a very real sense, the Affiliated World was a part of the Great Realm.

Travel between a Great Realm and its Affiliated Worlds was extremely easy.

But it was a different story for ordinary worlds.

Traveling from an ordinary world to a Great Realm was manageable; it was difficult, but not prohibitively so.

However, trying to go from a Great Realm to an ordinary world was as hard as ascending to the heavens.

To be precise, ever since the great changes in heaven and earth, it had become nearly impossible for beings from the Great Realm to descend into ordinary worlds.

The only exception was the homeworld a member of the Demon Race was born in; only then was there a slight chance of returning.

HUMMM~

As light flashed, the Spiritual Boat once again arrived at that massive canyon.

This was the Kunpeng Demon Army’s station in Shuofang Province.

Palaces and pavilions were stacked layer upon layer. Rows of Spiritual Boats were lined up in an orderly fashion.

From time to time, members of the Demon Race wearing the standard-issue armor of the Kunpeng Demon Army flew past.

Weaving through the Kunpeng Demon Army’s station, the Spiritual Boat seemed tiny in comparison.

BOOM!

A massive explosion echoed through the surrounding space.

“What’s going on?”

“What happened?”

“It sounds like Magical Combat!”

The many Demon Fiends inside the Spiritual Boat turned their heads to look.

The commotion outside had clearly piqued the One-Horned Elder’s interest as well.

Both sides of the Spiritual Boat turned into transparent screens, allowing them to see the scene outside clearly.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

The first massive explosion was not the last; it was followed by one after another.

The sounds seemed to be escalating.

‘What’s happening? Is some Demon Fiend attacking the Province station?’

Xu Chang’an wondered, tilting his head.

Squad after squad of Demon Race members in the Kunpeng Demon Army’s standard-issue armor flew out from the palaces.

SWOOSH! SWOOSH! SWOOSH!

Streaks of light flashed by.

“Transport Spiritual Boat, halt in place and await military orders!”

A powerfully built member of the Demon Race, a full hundred feet tall and clad in caped armor, blocked the Spiritual Boat’s path.

As soon as this member of the Demon Race finished speaking, his figure flashed and he flew toward another Spiritual Boat.

He showed no fear that the Demon Palace’s Spiritual Boat might disobey.

And indeed, the Demon Palace’s Spiritual Boat obediently came to a halt.

“Everyone, please remain calm. Something must have happened. We’ll know soon enough if we just watch.”

The One-Horned Elder came out to reassure the many Demon Fiends.

The Demon Fiends all looked outside.

BOOM! BOOM!

Accompanied by massive explosions, a dazzling light flared up.

It was then that the Demon Fiends finally saw the source of the sound.

It was a Primordial Spirit, tens of thousands of feet tall, radiating a blazing light.

“A Human Race Primordial Spirit?”

One of the Demon Fiends was stunned.

The Primordial Spirits cultivated by Human Race Cultivators were vastly different from those of the Demon Race, and the distinction could normally be seen at a glance.

This was the heartland of the Demon Race, a state-level station of the Kunpeng Demon Army. How could a Human Race Cultivator possibly appear here!

Xu Chang’an also stared curiously at the immense Primordial Spirit.

The Primordial Spirit had the face of a solemn-looking middle-aged man.

POW!

The Primordial Spirit’s Spiritual Light flashed, and in that instant, it swatted away several members of the Demon Race with a single slap.

Three of them had not yet entered the Unity Realm. From that one slap, they were reduced to a mist of blood.

Only one, who had entered the Unity Realm, managed to survive by relying on a Protective Spiritual Treasure.
