The Grey Rat's Demon Path
Chapter 399: Demon Sense Rises Again, The Cyan Mark
The difficulty of finding her had undoubtedly increased a thousandfold.
How difficult would it be to travel to the Human Race’s Realm as a demon and search for information about his Dao Companion from a past life!
However…
The appearance of Kui’s Treasure Demon Technique, Bright and Pure Disaster Relief, gave Xu Chang’an a glimmer of hope.
If his Realm could break through to Late-stage Unity, and if he could cultivate this Kui’s Treasure Demon Technique to a very high level…
Then, Xu Chang’an would have the confidence to infiltrate the Human Race’s Realm without being discovered.
Now that his Bright and Pure Disaster Relief had reached the second stage, he could even fool Fei Lian Level Demon Fiends when using it at full power.
By then, it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say he could even fool Bai Ze Level… or even Nine Infant Level Demon Fiends!
“Cultivate! Cultivate! I must keep cultivating!”
A Flame was burning in Xu Chang’an’s eyes.
BUZZ—
With a flash of light, three glowing orbs shimmering with Spiritual Light appeared before Xu Chang’an.
Each orb contained a Top-Grade Spiritual Treasure.
Two came from the Ancient Verdant Wood in the Cyan Wood World, and one came from a Secret Realm in the Cangyu World.
After breaking through to the Unity Realm, he had tried to devour a Top-Grade Spiritual Treasure.
But ultimately, he had been too weak and couldn’t devour the Artifact Spirit within.
He had thought that entering Mid-stage Unity would be enough to succeed.
But when he tried to devour it some years ago, that too had ended in failure.
Now, with his Realm stabilized and his Demon Sense stronger than ever, he would try devouring a Top-Grade Spiritual Treasure once more.
“Devour!”
Xu Chang’an’s Demon Sense erupted, probing into one of the Top-Grade Spiritual Treasures.
It was a square object, like a piece of Ancient Jade, with carvings of rare and exotic beasts on its surface.
Spiritual Light flickered around it, forming its own self-contained space, like a miniature world.
As his Demon Sense entered the Top-Grade Spiritual Treasure, Xu Chang’an clearly felt immense resistance.
It was the resistance of the Artifact Spirit!
The Spiritual Wisdom of a Top-Grade Spiritual Treasure’s Artifact Spirit was far greater than that of an Upper-Grade Spiritual Treasure.
It sensed a mortal threat from Xu Chang’an’s Demon Sense.
“Break!”
Xu Chang’an shouted softly.
His Demon Sense surged forth, bearing down with overwhelming and righteous might.
Though the Top-Grade Spiritual Treasure’s resistance was strong, it struggled to withstand Xu Chang’an’s now-voluminous Demon Sense.
Time slowly passed.
As his Demon Sense steadily wore it down, the Spiritual Treasure Spirit’s resistance grew weaker and weaker.
At a certain point, his Demon Sense pierced the Spiritual Treasure’s core, and streams of Energy began to flow into Xu Chang’an.
BUZZ… BUZZ… BUZZ…
The Energy surged, continuously being converted and absorbed by his panel.
In the void, the numbers on the panel fluctuated wildly.
‘I succeeded…’
Xu Chang’an was exultant as he devoured the Top-Grade Spiritual Treasure’s Energy.
The Energy within the Top-Grade Spiritual Treasure seemed inexhaustible.
Even devouring it with all his might, it still took Xu Chang’an three full days.
‘Over 8.65 million Energy!’
The Energy from the Top-Grade Spiritual Treasure was indeed impressive, leaving Xu Chang’an extremely satisfied.
And the Spirituality of this particular Top-Grade Spiritual Treasure had been the weakest of the three.
After devouring the first one, Xu Chang’an didn’t rush to devour the second.
Instead, he focused on restoring his depleted Demon Sense.
After more than half a month of rest, Xu Chang’an began to devour the second Top-Grade Spiritual Treasure.
It was a gourd that pulsed with black and white light.
This Top-Grade Spiritual Treasure’s Artifact Spirit resisted even more fiercely than the last.
But with his prior success, Xu Chang’an managed to wear it down and devour it after a few days.
He had accumulated over 9.12 million panel Energy!
After finishing the devouring process, Xu Chang’an rested for another month.
He looked at the perfectly round bead before him, which faintly crackled with arcs of Thunderbolt.
‘One last one!’
The Primordial Thunder Armor!
This was the only Top-Grade Spiritual Treasure he had successfully refined for his own use.
He was reluctant to part with it, but the panel Energy was more important.
After only a moment’s hesitation, Xu Chang’an sent his Demon Sense probing into it, preparing to devour the Top-Grade Spiritual Treasure.
The Primordial Thunder Armor’s initial resistance was no different from the previous two Top-Grade Spiritual Treasures.
But just as Xu Chang’an thought he was about to succeed…
…a cyan-colored imprint, displaying an incredibly complex pattern, suddenly lit up inside the Spiritual Treasure.
Xu Chang’an’s Demon Sense jolted, and he was forcibly ejected from the Primordial Thunder Armor.
“What is that thing!?”
Xu Chang’an was utterly horrified.
Everything had been going smoothly, but the sudden appearance of this cyan imprint had reversed the situation.
“I’ll try again!”
Xu Chang’an adjusted his mental state, and his Demon Sense erupted, surging into the Primordial Thunder Armor once more.
The initial stages went smoothly, but just as he was about to enter the Spiritual Treasure’s core, the cyan imprint appeared again.
It instantly blasted him out!
“Still no good!”
After being thrown back twice in a row, Xu Chang’an’s face was a little pale.
‘This cyan imprint…’
Two failed attempts made Xu Chang’an realize that this cyan imprint was obviously no ordinary thing.
‘What could it be?’
His Demon Sense was now even stronger than that of a typical Qinyuan Level Demon Fiend.
Yet such a vast and powerful Demon Sense couldn’t withstand the cyan imprint for even a single moment!
Clearly, the cyan imprint within the Primordial Thunder Armor was anything but ordinary!
Xu Chang’an studied it for a long time, but ultimately came up with nothing.
After being repelled by the cyan imprint a third time, he gave up on trying to figure it out.
Looking at the Energy data displayed on his panel, Xu Chang’an felt a surge of satisfaction.
He had already accumulated nearly twenty million Energy out of the one hundred million needed for his next Breaking Realm.
‘Time to condense the Bloodline vortex!’
His mind made up, Xu Chang’an began to cultivate Kui’s Treasure Demon Technique.
As long as his Demon Sense continued to grow stronger, he would eventually be able to break through this cyan imprint.
‘Perhaps it’s empowered by some special Restriction!’
Xu Chang’an suppressed the questions in his heart and began to focus on his cultivation.
In cultivation, years pass like days.
The Spiritual Ship flew at extreme speed across the skies of Kunpeng Land.
It passed over one Demon City region after another.
It also encountered its fair share of Tribulation Cultivator forces.
Some Tribulation Cultivator forces saw the Spiritual Ship’s immense size and abandoned their plans of plunder.
But some powerful Tribulation Cultivators still tried their luck.
However, their attempts were over before they even began.
Because a majestic aura would rise from the Spiritual Ship.
“What a powerful aura!”
“We can’t beat it! Run!”
“Run for your lives!”
A Tribulation Cultivator force of several hundred Demon Fiends scattered like startled birds and beasts.
Inside the Spiritual Ship, everything remained peaceful.
Some were in seclusion, some were resting, and some were chatting.
Demon Fiends strolled through the Spiritual Ship’s central garden.
“It’s been over nine hundred years! By my calculations, we should be reaching the Star Sea Domain soon,” said a Demon Fiend with three small, cyan horns on its head.
“Should be! According to the map, we’ll arrive in the next few days!” a nearby Demon Fiend responded.
“I hear the Star Sea Domain is a spectacular sight. This time, I’ll get to see it to my heart’s content!”
“You’d better take a good look. Not everyone gets the chance to travel across a continent to the Star Sea Domain!”
“That’s right! Intercontinental escort missions are incredibly rare!”
“…”
The two demons chatted with each other.
A Demon Fiend who looked like a young boy passed by them.
They paid him no mind.
There were plenty of Demon Fiends on the Spiritual Ship; it was perfectly normal for one to be passing by.
‘So we’re about to reach the Star Sea Domain!’
Xu Chang’an was slightly dazed.
He had entered seclusion to comprehend and cultivate Kui’s Treasure Demon Technique, and more than six hundred years had passed since.
He had just emerged from seclusion to relax a bit when he overheard this news.
The Star Sea Domain!
One of the Four Major Seas in the Great Realm Di Jun.
It lay between Kunpeng Land and the Blood Rock Land, and was practically endless.
Even at the Spiritual Ship’s incredible speed, traveling nonstop, it would take more than sixteen hundred years to cross.
Xu Chang’an walked through the central garden of the Spiritual Ship, occasionally spotting a demon or two.
He didn’t recognize any of them.
In over nine hundred years, he had only emerged twice.
The first time was at a pavilion, where he mostly just listened to other demons talk.
The second time was now.
His social circle was small and his interactions were infrequent, so it was perfectly normal that he didn’t recognize any of the passing Demon Fiends.
‘Hmm, I should find a few fellow cultivators to chat with! If I don’t talk to anyone after all these years, I’ll go crazy!’
Perhaps some Demon Fiends could go thousands, even tens of thousands of years without speaking and feel no discomfort.
To them, a mere six hundred years was but the blink of an eye.
But Xu Chang’an was different. He had only been cultivating for a little over thirteen hundred years.
These six hundred years were nearly half his entire life as a cultivator.
How long that felt!
Xu Chang’an followed the winding path, looking around as he walked.
Whether it was bad luck or not, he didn’t see a single other Demon Fiend along the way.
‘Maybe… I should go back and find those two cultivators to talk to!?’
As Xu Chang’an was pondering this, he came to a pond.
The water was clear, and Spirit Plants pulsed within, suffusing the air with dense Spiritual Qi.
A little girl was squatting on the ground in front of the pond.
