The Heart System

Chapter 696

Chapter 696: Chapter 696

Sophia’s eyes widened the moment she saw Brok stepping out of my car. Her hand immediately moved toward the gun at her belt as her body tensed. I raised my hand, palm facing her, and she stopped. She cocked an eyebrow, clearly wondering what the hell I was doing.

"No need," I said, walking toward the entrance. "Trust me."

"Why is he here?"

"A wizard... he’s a wizard..." Brok muttered, completely out of it. "I saw it... I saw it..."

"He’s here to apologize," I replied, placing a hand on Brok’s shoulder. "Right, Broky-Brok?"

He didn’t respond. Sophia’s gaze dropped to his swollen purple eye and the cut on his eyebrow. She slowly lowered her hand from her gun and crossed her arms, studying us with a raised brow and a slight tilt of her hips.

"Wow," she said. "How did you even manage that, Marlowe?"

I didn’t answer. I just tilted my head slightly and gave her a faint smile before slapping Brok roughly on the shoulder, pushing him forward. Man... today was a good day. Maybe the best day yet.

Oh, and... four points from Sophia? Well... sure. I’d take that.

We walked through the short corridor. Charlotte was behind the counter, sitting on a stool and talking on the phone. The moment she saw us, she stopped mid-sentence, whispered something to the person on the other end, and hung up.

"What the..." she muttered. "Why is he here?"

Eleanor was a little further ahead, wiping down a table with her back to us. She hadn’t noticed us yet. But every other worker in the bar had. The air grew thick with tension.

Brok, still staring blankly at the floor, stopped right behind Eleanor. When she sensed someone behind her, she turned around and jumped in fright. But the moment she saw me standing next to him, she relaxed slightly.

"Evan?" Eleanor asked, confused. "Why... why is he here? He’s... god..."

"He has something to tell you," I said, smacking Brok on the shoulder again. "Right?"

"I’m sorry, Eleanor," Brok said, eyes still glued to the floor. "Your brother’s debt has been cleared."

"Good," I nodded. "And?"

"And as an apology," he continued in a robotic voice, "I’ll give you half a million out of good will."

"What a nice man," I smiled. "The money’s in the car, Eleanor. I’ll give it to you back at the penthouse."

"W-what... how?" Eleanor stammered as the other workers slowly gathered around us. "What?"

"Now, chop-chop," I said, grabbing Brok by the shoulder and shoving him back roughly.

He stumbled into a table and nearly fell, but said nothing. He simply got up, dusted himself off, and walked out the door in silence. We all watched him disappear down the corridor. Sophia was already leaning against the wall near the entrance, watching the entire scene unfold.

"Evan..." Eleanor muttered, eyes wide with disbelief. "Brok... how?"

"I told you I’d handle it," I smiled. "And I did."

Isabella walked over and gently rubbed Eleanor’s shoulder. Charlotte came out from behind the counter and stood beside her. Eleanor’s eyes began to water.

"Oh my god..." she whispered, sniffing. "Is it... really? Is that..."

"Yes. Really," I said softly. "And now you’re..."

Before I could finish, she lunged forward and wrapped her arms tightly around my neck, burying her face in my chest as she started crying. I hugged her back, one hand gently patting the back of her head while the other played with her hair. Poor Eleanor... she had been through absolute hell because of that bastard. I was glad it was finally over.

After a moment, I pulled back slightly and bent my knees so we were eye-level. I slipped a finger under her chin and gently lifted her face. She wiped her tears away, her bottom lip still trembling.

"Everything’s going to be fine," I told her. "Okay?"

She nodded, tears still falling. "Thank you, Evan... thank you... God, thank you."

And just like that, I hit 100/100 with Eleanor. The rewards weren’t bad either. In total, I’d earned 550 credits plus another interesting bonus. The next time I completed a sexual activity, I’d get a bigger multiplier depending on how many girls I fucked in one session. Jasmine and Nala alone would give me x2. Add Tessa and it would jump to x3.

"You’re safe now," I said, playfully pushing her head to the side. "Now don’t make me hold you up. Charlotte can only tolerate you slacking off for so long."

Charlotte actually smiled at me. A real one. It was rare to see that from her after everything that had happened with Cora.

"I gotta go," I said. "Take care, Eleanor."

"Thank you, Evan... thank you."

I turned to Charlotte and leaned in slightly. "Go easy on her today, alright?"

She nodded. "I will."

I glanced at Eleanor one last time. Isabella was hugging her now, letting Eleanor rest her head on her shoulder. I couldn’t help but smile at the sight. Then I turned and started walking backward toward the exit.

Another quest completed.

And now... I’d finally earned a real rest.

A big one.

I hopped into my car and exhaled, pulling my phone from my pocket to dial Delilah. A few seconds later, she picked up.

"Hey, handsome," she answered.

"Hey," I said. "Tonight, you’re with me. I don’t take no for an answer, got it?"

"Tonight?" she asked. "Where?"

"The penthouse," I said. "I’ll send a car to pick you up."

"Alright, then I’d better get ready. The other girls will be there too, right?"

"Yep."

"Good," she said, then went quiet for a moment. "Oh, I almost forgot. Evan, something happened yesterday."

"What?"

"I swear... I... I caught Ivy masturbating."

"Oh, Mrs. Komb. Stop, way too much detail," I chuckled.

"And she was... she was muttering your name, I think."

Oh, shit.

"Y-you probably heard her wrong," I said nervously. "Ivy? No way, you know? Like, come on."

"I don’t know... anyway. What time did you say?"

"Seven good?"

"Seven is good."

"Nice. I love you, Delilah."

"I love you too, Evan."

I hung up and leaned back against the seat.

Yeah... a big rest.
