The Heart System
Chapter 870
Chapter 870: Chapter 870
The man yelped and let out a sound that was somewhere between a scream and a dying animal. He tried to take a step back, but Sophia kept her grip and pulled him toward her before driving her forehead straight into his nose. His head snapped back, and a little blood immediately started running from his nostrils.
Sophia shoved him away by the chest, making him stumble into the wall. He hunched forward almost immediately, both hands covering his crotch as he tried to deal with what was probably unbearable pain.
I would have felt bad for the guy, but honestly, fuck him. He had started the whole thing by screaming about Penelope’s breasts in the middle of a crowded bar.
"Thanks." I nodded toward Sophia.
"That’s what I get paid for." She grabbed the man by the hair and started dragging him toward the entrance. "And I think our friend here is done drinking. Out you go, bastard."
"Hey," Penelope whispered to Tessa as she watched Sophia drag the guy away. "I’m getting a mad masculine vibe from that chick. Wait, Minne?"
I arched an eyebrow and looked over at Minne.
Poor girl. She was crying.
The moment she met my eyes, she looked scared and immediately clung to my arm, wrapping both arms around it tightly. Damn it. I knew bringing Minne into a rowdy place like Stingy Ladies was a bad idea. She was too innocent for this kind of environment, and watching someone get beaten up probably hadn’t helped.
"Oh, I’m going to fuck that idiot up now." Tessa abruptly stood from her chair, her expression turning furious. "Fucking asshole!"
"Calm down!" I reached over and grabbed her hand before she could go anywhere. "Just... let’s go somewhere else."
"I’m sorry, Mas..."
I stopped her before she could finish and call me Master in front of Penelope.
"No worries. Come on, we’ll go somewhere else."
"No, no, I’m... I’m fine. Really. I am just... I..."
"No."
"O-okay."
Damn it. Just what I needed. I thought this’d be a calm night, but no. Just my damn luck.
We barely had time to move before the same man Sophia had just thrown outside came rushing back through the entrance. He looked completely pissed off, with enough bloodlust in his expression to make it obvious that he hadn’t come back to apologize.
Sophia immediately moved to intercept him, grabbing onto his shirt and trying to hold him back, but the idiot’s T-shirt gave way under the force and ripped in her hands.
The man charged straight toward us.
I stepped forward and put myself between him and everyone else. He didn’t slow down. Instead, he ducked his head between my arm and waist and tried to tackle me to the ground.
Thanks to my STR stat, I managed to hold my ground and shove him back before he could take me down. He recovered quickly and threw a punch at me. I stepped backward, letting his fist swing past my face, but before I could properly react, he grabbed Penelope’s empty beer bottle from the table and hurled it straight at me.
I raised my arm to protect my face.
The bottle shattered against it, sending pieces of glass flying across the floor. A few sharp pieces scratched my arm, and I felt a sting immediately.
"Fuck!"
I grabbed Minne’s now-empty chair and swung it into him.
The chair slammed into his side, knocking him off balance and sending him crashing to the floor. He groaned as he rolled onto his back. I got him good, because his nose was now bleeding, along with his forehead.
"You motherfucker, come here!"
I took a step toward him and raised my foot, ready to put an end to his stupidity once and for all, but Sophia intervened before I could bring it down. She wrapped her arms around me and pushed me backward.
"That’s enough," Sophia said firmly. "The police will handle the rest. Let him go, come on."
"Yeah." I exhaled and lowered my foot before looking down at my arm. "Yeah... okay... okay. Fuck..."
"Dude, you okay?" Penelope asked from behind me. "Are you hurt? Damn."
"Yeah, yeah." I glanced at the scratches. "It’s just bleeding a little. I’m fine... I think. I don’t know."
"What the fuck happened?" Emilia came out from behind the counter and hurried over when she saw the mess. Her eyes immediately landed on my arm. "Evan? What happened to your arm? Who’s this guy on the ground?"
The people who had been watching us slowly returned to whatever they had been doing now that the fight was over. A few waitresses, including Eleanor, came over with brooms and started cleaning up the broken glass and the other mess the idiot had left behind.
Yeah, what a night this had been.
"This bastard attacked him," Sophia explained. She looked at me with a slightly apologetic expression. "I apologize, Evan. My fault."
"Nah, you did good." I gave her a smile despite the sting in my arm. "Though, you should teach me that ball move you just did. It could’ve saved me a trip to the hospital, huh?"
"You wish." Sophia said, a small smile appearing on her face. "I gotta call the cops now. Are you four going to be okay?"
"Hmm. Don’t worry."
"Good. See you later."
"Yeah. See you later."
Huh... Four points from Penelope and six points from Sophia? For what, beating this half-drunk idiot? Not bad, not bad.
