The Heiress They Lost Came Back Overpowered

Chapter 276 - 275: Sorry for Taking Up Public Resources

  • Next Chapter

The group of spectators in the back finally burst out laughing. If they held it in any longer, they’d probably be the first people in history to die from holding in their laughter.

Nolan Crawford whipped his head around, glaring at them accusingly.

"Stop laughing! Your laughter is hurting my eyes!"

These people were ganging up to mess with him yet again! This was beyond ridiculous! He was going to throw a fit!

Yvonne Lowell suppressed the smile in her eyes and cleared her throat.

"Big Bear, come here. Stop scaring your little uncle. You mischievous pup, why are you so naughty?"

Nolan Crawford: ’Heh, save it. Belated affection is cheaper than dirt.’

"ARF!" ’Oh, so you *do* remember my name? It’s been ages since you’ve been back. You even remember you have a home here? And you have the nerve to pass the buck to me?’

Big Bear grumbled under his breath as he reluctantly shuffled toward her.

Yvonne Lowell: ’...You’d better remember, you’re just a baby who’s not even two years old. Cut the drama.’

"Alright, the family reunion is officially over." Zachary Jacobs clapped his hands, then scooped up a small wolf cub and said to the two irresponsible parents,

"I’m taking one of the pups to the main building to play. Not taking him for good, mind you. I’ll bring him back tonight. If you miss them, you can go pick them up yourselves."

The others also joined the wolf-cuddling extravaganza, each grabbing a cub before turning to leave.

’If we can’t afford to raise them, we can at least pet them, right?’ Just getting to hold them was a treat, and it didn’t cost a thing.

Luna and her mate were busy grooming each other, not even sparing the group a glance.

’Go pick them up? As if we have nothing better to do?’

’Do whatever you want. In fact, it’d be best if you all acted like wolf traffickers and carted them off, never to return.’

...

Yvonne Lowell looked at the little white wolf curled up asleep in the corner of the sofa and asked the man beside her,

"Have you named him yet?"

"Grimfang."

Leo Grant said nonchalantly, toying with her small hand.

Yvonne Lowell raised an eyebrow. "No offense, President Grant, but aren’t your expectations for your ’son’ a little high?"

The Grimfang is a ferocious beast from the *Classic of Mountains and Seas*. It looks like a wolf and possesses exceptional stealth capabilities, making it highly aggressive and dangerous.

In ancient lore, the Grimfang was considered a man-eating beast, a symbol of mystery, terror, and the unknown.

"You’ve got to have dreams. What if they come true?" Leo Grant mimicked her, raising an eyebrow as well.

The first time he saw this pup in a video, the name had naturally popped into his head.

And he was determined to get this wolf cub. If he couldn’t get it, he’d steal it! If he couldn’t steal it, he’d snatch it! If he couldn’t snatch it, he’d throw a tantrum and beg his girlfriend for it!

But his girlfriend was beautiful and kind-hearted. She pitied him and couldn’t bear to see him like that, so she just gave the cub to him directly.

Yvonne Lowell: ’...Is he crazy? Can we have a do-over? I can bear it. I can *definitely* bear it!’

Nolan Crawford, who had been listening to their entire conversation from the side, pouted with a hint of grievance in his voice.

"Bro, you’re making my Haha sound so lame!"

Haha: ’...Watch your wording, please. You’re the lame one.’

’My sincerest apologies for taking up public resources. I’d like to clarify here that all of my nanny-daddy’s brainless actions are his alone and have nothing to do with this wolf. Please do not direct your criticism at me. If you curse him out, you can’t curse me out, okay?’

Leo Grant shot him a sidelong glance. "Then why don’t you just give him a new name?"

"No way! Haha is a great name! It’s simple and catchy, and he’s already used to it."

Nolan Crawford hugged Haha, refusing without a second thought.

...’Then what the hell was the point of all that!?’

Zachary Jacobs was curious. "But where are you two planning to keep them? The Shadow Pavilion?"

"Bringing him back to Kingsland. The paperwork is already done," Leo Grant replied without looking up.

Nolan Crawford froze for a moment, then snapped his head up. "Huh?! Aren’t we leaving them on Continent R? And when did you do the paperwork?!"

"The day I went to Apeiron."

As soon as he learned they were coming to pick out wolf cubs, he casually pulled a few strings.

Nolan Crawford suddenly felt like the sky was falling. He thought they were being sent back to The Shadow Pavilion, so he’d happily picked his wolf and left, never even considering the paperwork.

Who knew his brother would be so bold as to take it directly back to Kingsland, with all the papers sorted?!

’This back-stabbed life of mine... it’s truly been a colorful one.’

Haha: ’So the big house, pretty clothes, big gold chains, and sunglasses were all fake? All those beautiful dreams were just bubbles?!’

After a thousand thoughts raced through his mind, Nolan Crawford put on a fawning smile and scooted his butt closer to Leo Grant.

"Bro~ Brother Grant~ Dearest Brother Grant~"

A collective shiver ran through the onlookers. Zachary Jacobs even punched him. "Dude, act normal!"

"Ahem." Nolan Crawford coughed lightly, his voice returning to normal, but the sycophantic look on his face deepened.

"Bro, listen, Grimfang will be bored all by himself in Kingsland, right? Why not let Haha keep him company? You know I can’t use my old man’s connections, and time is of the essence."

"What’s that got to do with me?" Leo Grant said flatly.

Nolan Crawford’s eyes darted around. He lunged, grabbing Leo’s arm and refusing to let go. He squeezed his eyes shut and started wailing.

"Brother Grant, I’m begging you, my brother! I’ve worked hard my whole life and finally got a wolf in my old age! He’s the only wolf-son I have, you can’t just stand by and watch him die! If I can’t keep him with me, how can I go on living!"

Leo Grant’s face was as dark as the bottom of a pot. "Let go," he said coldly.

Nolan Crawford shuddered reflexively, then clung on even tighter.

"I won’t! If you don’t agree, I’ll just keep hugging you! We’ve known each other since we were kids, and we’ve never even shared a bed!"

A teasing smile played on Yvonne Lowell’s lips. ’I’m kind of starting to ship these two. Maybe I should give them the master bedroom tonight? Help them fulfill their destiny?’

Sensing her teasing gaze, Leo Grant’s expression darkened further.

’Damn you, Nolan! You’re ruining my image in front of my girlfriend!’

Leo Grant ground out through his teeth, "Let go. I already submitted the request for you. It’ll be approved before we head back."

"Really? You’re not tricking me?" Nolan Crawford didn’t loosen his grip, his eyes watching him with suspicion.

"Are you even worthy of me tricking you? Let go now, or you can take him with you to the mines on Continent F."

Seeing that Leo Grant was on the verge of exploding, Nolan Crawford immediately let go and shot back to his original spot.

"Brother Grant! You’re my one true brother! I swear, from this day forward, I’ll follow your every command! Love you, mwah mwah!!!"

Before Leo could even react, Nolan grabbed Haha and started cuddling him furiously.

"Haha, Daddy’s taking you back to Kingsland! Aren’t you excited?! I’ll take you to meet Grandpa and Grandma, and Great-Grandpa and Great-Grandma!"

The Leogryph, which had been sleeping on the rug, suddenly twitched its ears. It cracked open an eyelid to glance at them before closing it again, as if nothing had happened.
