The Heiress They Lost Came Back Overpowered
Chapter 331: Even His Birth Parents
Pluto Kingsland Branch.
Owen Ward sat in a coffee shop across the street, watching the figures of people coming and going from the building opposite him. He felt a growing sense of hesitation and nervousness.
He had only landed in Kingsland the afternoon before last. Yesterday, he had first set out from his hotel to tour the school campus.
Originally, he had planned to find some old alleyways to take pictures after leaving the school, just to put his mother off today.
But yesterday afternoon, Joanne Cheney had spammed him with several video calls and found out where he was, so that plan had to be scrapped.
So, he woke up bright and early today, visited a museum he had booked in advance, and took plenty of photos to serve as proof of his activities for the day.
He told Joanne Cheney that he couldn’t take calls inside the museum, then immediately rushed over.
After all, several days had passed since he’d overheard his parents’ plan. Based on the progress they were making, his time was running out.
Meanwhile, the private message he’d sent to Pluto’s official social media account was still marked as ‘unread.’
But for the official account of such a massive corporation, that was actually pretty normal.
However, he hadn’t been able to find any other private accounts online. No matter what, he had to see Miss Jennings today.
Whether she was the person he remembered or not, he had to give her a warning.
Even if the people behind this were his own parents…
After steeling himself, Owen Ward put down his coffee cup, stood up, and walked toward the building across the street.
…
After entering the building, Owen Ward looked around before his gaze locked onto the reception desk. He headed straight for it.
The receptionist greeted him with an approachable smile and a gentle voice.
“Hello, sir. How may I help you?”
“Hi, miss. I’m looking for Miss Nina Jennings from your company. I have something very important to tell her!”
Owen Ward clutched his phone, his voice rushed with nervousness.
The receptionist’s expression didn’t change. “You’re looking for Vice Chairman Jennings… Do you have an appointment, sir?”
“No… but I really do have something very, very, very important that I need to tell her in person!”
“I’m very sorry, sir, but we can’t pass on your message without an appointment. If you’d like, you can schedule one with Vice Chairman Jennings first.”
Owen Ward gritted his teeth and told her the general reason for his visit.
“Miss, someone is trying to plot against her, and I have a recording as evidence! Please, could you at least ask her if she’s willing to see me? Would that be okay?”
After speaking, he even took two steps back and bowed to her.
Of course, he knew that a large company like this required appointments, especially for a Vice Chairman.
But aside from recklessly showing up like this, he had no other way to contact her…
The receptionist’s smile stiffened for a moment when she heard the words “plot against.”
Still, she first stepped forward to help him up, her expression turning serious.
“Sir, you can eat the wrong thing, but you can’t say the wrong thing. Are you prepared to take responsibility for your words?”
‘He seems like such a bright-eyed young college student. It’d be a shame if he got arrested for spreading rumors and harassment…’
“I’m really not making this up! I’m a legal adult. I can take responsibility for every word I’ve said!” Owen Ward said quickly.
The receptionist hesitated for a moment. “Please wait, then. I need to consult my superior.”
“Okay, okay! Thank you!”
The receptionist returned to her station and dialed the general manager’s office.
“President Miller, it’s like this. Downstairs…”
“Yes, please hold.” The receptionist turned to look at Owen Ward.
“Sir, may I have your name?”
“My surname is Ward. My name is Owen Ward.”
Owen Ward rested both hands on the reception desk, poised to give an instant reply.
The receptionist relayed the name to the person on the other end and hung up after receiving a reply.
“Miss, how did it go?”
Owen Ward looked at her, his eyes filled with urgency.
The receptionist maintained her professional smile and spoke to him gently.
“Here’s the situation, Mr. Ward. Vice Chairman Jennings rarely comes to the branch office. So, President Miller needs to contact her first to confirm if she is in Kingsland and if she has time. My instructions are to take you up to the meeting room first. President Miller will speak with you personally in a little while.”
The light in Owen Ward’s eyes dimmed for a moment. “So she’s… not coming?”
“I’m sorry, we’re not sure at the moment. It depends on the reply President Miller receives. If Vice Chairman Jennings doesn’t have time right now, you could perhaps choose to speak with President Miller instead.”
The receptionist raised her hand, gesturing for him to walk toward the elevators.
Owen Ward followed behind her and asked tentatively,
“Forgive me for asking, but this President Miller is…?”
“President Miller is the general manager of the Kingsland Branch. He is usually in charge of managing branch affairs and can contact the three board directors directly.”
“Oh, I see…”
Having gotten his answer, Owen Ward asked no more questions and quietly watched the floor numbers change on the elevator display.
When they arrived at the meeting room, the receptionist asked softly,
“Mr. Ward, please have a seat. Would you like anything to drink?”
“Just some warm water, thank you.”
“Of course. Please wait a moment.”
The receptionist went to the break room, poured a glass of warm water, and placed it in front of him.
“Mr. Ward, I need to return to my post now. Please wait here for a moment. If you need anything, you can find one of my colleagues outside. President Miller will be here shortly.”
“Okay, thank you. I appreciate your help.”
“You’re welcome. It’s my duty.”
Owen Ward stood up to see her off before sitting back down, his hands nervously clutching the straps of his backpack.
…
When Nina Jennings got the call, she was at Tidalview with Yvonne Lowell, discussing the details of a wedding dress design.
“Miles Morgan? What’s he calling me for?”
She answered the call and put it on speakerphone.
“Well, well, President Miller. To what do I owe the pleasure?”
A frantic male voice came through the phone.
“Nina! Nina! Code red! Some guy came to the company looking for you. Are you in Kingsland right now?”
“It’s been so long, yet you’re still as reckless as ever.”
Nina Jennings nonchalantly admired her new manicure, her voice lazy.
“Who is it? Don’t tell me it’s an old flame from my past. If so, I’m definitely not seeing him.”
“He said his surname is Ward, and his name is Owen Ward. He claims to know someone is plotting against you and that he has a recording as evidence.”
Nina Jennings suddenly sat bolt upright, her eyes narrowing slightly.
“What did you say his name was?”
Yvonne Lowell glanced up at her before picking up a nearby tablet, her head lowered as she busied herself with something on it.
“Owen Ward. The receptionist said he looks like a young guy who just became a legal adult, and he came alone. I’ve had him taken to the meeting room. Do you want to see him? If not, I can go and fish for some information before sending him away.”
