Chapter 128: I'll Kill Her

The fires grew into a large tornado of red flames that floated in the air and released massive arcs of fire that lashed out at everything around it! This was a skill that Vero had used many times in the past to completely eradicate entire towns and villages from existence! It was so powerful that the swirling flames would even hurt Vero himself if he dared to stay in here for too long! Vero knew that there was no way Verati could withstand something like this!

But Verati didn't look like he cared about the attack, and Verati's body suddenly pulsed with magic as Verati activated a skill!

[Hellfire]!

Vero's eyes widened in shock as he saw black flames dancing across Verati's skin, and in that moment Vero realised that Verati was trying to use his skill! How was this possible!?

"How can you use hellfire!? You couldn't use this before!"

Vero knew that Verati hadn't had this skill the last time they fought, but Verati just smiled!

"You've been dead for a long time, Vero. There are many things about me that you don't know. Don't think you're special just because you can summon Hellfire. It's just another magic skill."

The black flames around Verati immediately surged to new life and completely engulfed the red flames around them! Verati drew back his right hand and unleashed a flaming punch into Vero's stomach before activating the same explosive skill that Vero had used in the past!

[Hellfire Explosion]!

BOOM!

The explosion sent Vero flying back like a missile, and Vero spat out blood as he was thrown straight into the middle of the city! Vero bounced on the floor like a pinball before he slammed into the ground and dug a deep trench as he slid back! Vero quickly turned around and puked out on the pavement, and he breathed heavily as Verati floated towards him! There were multiple humans being evacuated from the buildings around him, and Vero saw that they were all looking at him with fear in their eyes!

"WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AT!?"

Vero slashed his hand to the side angrily and created a massive wave of fire that threatened to engulf the humans! The humans all screamed in fright as they saw the fire coming towards them, but a wall of ice suddenly rose from the ground and blocked the hellfire before it could do any damage! Vero turned to the side sharply, and he saw Verati floating down to the ground with his hands behind his back! There was no injury on Verati's body at all, and anyone who saw him wouldn't ever think he was just in the middle of a massive battle!

Vero snarled angrily as he realised that he had been outclassed again, and he raised his hand and pointed it at his own head!

"Stay back! Stay back, or I'll kill her!"

Vero shouted this angrily while scooting back away from Verati, and Verati stopped and gave Vero a curious look! Vero narrowed his eyes at Verati and continued!

"I know what you're trying to do. You want to separate my soul from hers using a Banishing Charm, don't you? That's why you're trying to weaken me without actually killing me. Well, that's too bad. I don't care about living as much as you think I do. If you care about this girl so much, then I'll gladly die again just to take her soul away and see you suffer! That's how much I hate you, you fucking bastard!"

Verati narrowed his eyes at Vero, and Verati began to weigh his options. On one hand, it was possible to continue beating Vero until Vero actually gave up, but Verati knew that this would only cause more damage to the city, and there was a real chance that Vero wasn't bluffing and he would really kill himself just to spite Verati. If that was the case, then what was the point of keeping him alive at all?

Verati thought things through properly, and in the middle of that isolated section of the town, Verati finally came to a decision. There was no point in keeping Vero alive.

"Very well, Vero. Go ahead."

Verati said this while stepping forward, and Vero's eyes widened in shock!

"What…?"

"You heard me, Vero. I said go ahead. I don't need you to be alive. Kill yourself if you want. It'll only make things easier for me."

Vero narrowed his eyes at Verati when he heard this, and Vero immediately spat out in irritation!

"You're bluffing."

Verati smiled in amusement as he continued coming closer!

"Am I? Are you really willing to find out?"

Vero snarled in anger as he realized that Verati was just playing with him! There was no way Verati was telling the truth about this! He had to be lying! Verati was just trying to make him lower his guard so he wouldn't kill her! Yes, that was it! Vero was sure that Verati was going to try and stop him the moment he got close enough! Vero felt his resolve strengthen as this thought came to his mind, and Vero made up his mind that he was willing to take this gamble!

Vero grinned at Verati with a nasty look in his eyes, and in the next moment, Vero activated a skill!

[Crimson Arrow]!

A small arrow made from Hellfire suddenly tore through Hildegard's head, and Hildegard's body fell to the ground with a thud. Verati walked up to the body and looked at it with a hard gaze, and in the split moment just before passing away, Vero felt amusement bubbling from deep inside him as he waited for Verati to save him. Vero knew that Verati wouldn't let him die! There was no way he would let him die! Any moment now, Verati would kneel down and use a healing spell on him!

'Why isn't he doing anything!?'

Vero was stunned when he realized that Verati wasn't moving at all, and in that split moment, Vero began to feel dread fill his heart as he realised that Verati might actually let him die! Vero couldn't move his body anymore since he had damaged his brain, and Vero could only watch with a shocked expression as the image of Verati became more and more blurry until it finally changed to pitch-black darkness!

Percy let out a long sigh when he saw Hildegard's eyes close, and once Percy was sure that Hildegard was actually dead, he knelt down and activated [Higher Healing]. The spell immediately travelled towards the opening in Hildegard's head and began to close it up until there was no injury there at all, and once Percy was sure that Hildegard's body was healed, he began to work towards securing Hildegard's soul. Percy stood up and opened a Dimensional Door to the side, and he put his hands behind him as he walked through the Dimensional Door and began his journey.

The first place Percy had to go to was the pathway of lost souls. Percy appeared within a long floating tube that had millions of ghostly beings moving past him. Around Percy's body was a bubble of magic that he had created to prevent the souls from reaching him, and Percy could see many of the souls grabbing hold of the magical bubble with pleading looks on their faces as they tried to make him help them. But Percy ignored their pleas, and he allowed the glowing current within the tube to take him all the way through to the other end of the pathway.
