Chapter 69: Old lives matter

"Welcome, welcome. Hope your flight was not stressful at all. I hope you still have your energy, because we can’t allow the star of the dead to be out of energy, can we?"

My voice sounded like the one of a perfect gentleman, but she did not return that same kind of energy. Well, how did I know?

"Lupingo!" she shouted. "What game are you playing at? Why are you doing this? I thought you don’t kill the innocent," she said.

"Well, I won’t kill any innocent person if you succeed, right? So it’s up to you."

"You are leaving the lives of people in my hands. Why don’t you kill them and let it be all over?"

The words that Void Starr was saying do not sound like the words I expect from her mouth, so I try to make her aware of her words. Maybe she said it by mistake.

"Void Starr, be careful of what you are saying. Remember, we are live."

"And so what? Just kill all of them instead so I can come after your head, instead of going through this annoying condition. You know that I am finding it hard on what to do about you. You are a villain, yet you don’t cause the damage most villains do, and this puts me in a situation I don’t like at all.

"So I will say it again: why don’t you kill them so I can finally rip your head off?"

Damn, I thought in my mind. Cold sweat flowed from my back. I feel that she is just too angry. I didn’t do anything much. It’s just an opportunity for her to increase her powers, so I don’t understand where all the hate is coming from.

"Wow, cool your temper, miss. Getting angry would have no benefits for you. I hope you haven’t forgotten that I have the remote with me, and I can remotely activate the bomb from my location, and we don’t want that, I believe."

Void Starr calmed herself down, enough not to go rushing to kill me. Although she looked calm, I can see the vein on her neck and the tightening of her hands, like doing that would calm her down.

She then said,

"Void Starr, calm down. I am not joking with you. So just go and do your hero thing and follow the script I planned," I said with calmness, but inside I was already scared.

She is too angry. And if she tries to kill me, I would have no choice but to escape. I don’t want to fight with her yet. And if I escape, it would just spoil the show I have planned.

I brought out the detonator in my hand to show her. Maybe she would calm down and finally act like how a hero is supposed to act, and not act the way she is doing now.

"I hope you can see this clearly. I am not joking around. If you move, I would press the detonator and I would escape. You would gain nothing but the blood of party A and B on your hands, so think clearly on your next action."

She did not say anything, but seeing that she did not act, I believe that she has understood.

I teleported away from my position to another building. I then shouted,

Void Starr clenched her teeth and her fist hard, and then started flying towards the direction after receiving the location tracker of where party A and party B are in. She flew hard towards the location.

She saw that party B was inside the cargo plane. She went towards the plane. She saw plenty of old men gathered in one place.

These old men were handcuffed to their seats on the large cargo plane. Their eyes were surprised when they saw that Void Starr came.

And one of them couldn’t help but ask,

"What are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be with the other party? Why did you come and save us?"

"Are you aware of your situation?" Void Starr couldn’t help but ask.

"Yes, we are aware of our situation. A young man in a mask and a costume came to us and asked us to help him in an experiment, and we answered the man after we heard the content of the experiment."

"Are you sure you are aware of the risk of the experiment?" she asked.

"We are very aware of the risk. The young man told us all about it. He told us there’s a risk of all of us dying."

"And why did you still agree to it after knowing the risk entailed in that man’s unethical experiment?" she asked.

"Well, the answer is simple, dear. According to the man, this experiment is to test humanity, to see what’s truly important, that if a choice arrives, where there is no choice but to choose either between the old and young, that who will the world choose? We too were curious on the choice of the world. The world of nowadays is told in only two colors: black and white.

"Good and bad. That’s all is known about the world. But is the world only that? The answer is no. The world is a mixture of different beautiful colors. A color that will keep on making the world an interesting place to live in, no matter how bad the situation is.

"We also know that we are old, and we know that there is a chance that the young ones are the future. They are the ones who will build the world to the length it can fully reach. We are old and retired. Our purpose in life has been fulfilled. We have nothing left to give the world. But even with that, the young man gave us half a million euros each to partake in the experiment, and we all have it to our children and grandkids. At least with that, our children’s and grandkids’ lives will be more easy to live."

"So, young hero, why don’t you leave us here and go and save the young ones? We came to the experiment willingly, and we have lived our lives to the fullest. We have fully accepted the burden of the man’s request, and we have it in our hearts to see it to the end."

One of the old people said.

"What are you saying? You guys may be old, but that does not mean your lives are worthless. All lives are equal in the eyes of the creator. No matter young or old, your lives are still worth more. And we need the knowledge of old ones like you to kick-start the launch to a great future. Without you guys impacting your knowledge to the minds of young ones like us, we are left to our own devices, and we will make a lot of mistakes on the way before we finally realize the right answers.

"And a path like that would be detrimental to the lives of the future. But if we gain knowledge of old ones, it will be the spark that would launch us to a greater path."

Void Starr said, trying to convince the old ones that they are worth more than they think, that they are not worthless.

What she didn’t know was that the conversation and their interaction was being recorded by the cameras all over the cargo plane, both inside and outside.
