Chapter 119: Shut up!
Chapter 119: Shut up!
The restaurant wasn’t far from the arcade.
By the time everyone arrived...
The sun had already begun to sink lower into the sky, painting the streets with warm orange light.
The hostess smiled as the large group entered.
"Welcome!"
Shen Tian smiled politely.
"Table please."
A few minutes later...
Everyone was seated around two large connected tables.
Menus were quickly passed around.
The atmosphere was completely different from the arcade.
Relaxed.
Comfortable.
Filled with laughter.
Chu Mei leaned back in her chair.
"I still can’t believe that dragon hole."
Chu Chuchu immediately burst into laughter.
"He literally skipped the entire course!"
Bai Xue wiped a tear from the corner of her eye.
"And then Yun Wanhe actually challenged him again!"
"I almost felt bad..."
She paused.
"Almost."
Everyone laughed.
Even Ling Shuangxue’s lips curved upward.
Qin Ruobing shook her head with an amused smile.
"I’ve never met someone so unwilling to admit defeat."
Yin Suyi proudly wrapped an arm around Shen Tian.
"My son is amazing. I knew he’d win from the beginning."
Shen Tian smiled helplessly.
"It was just a game."
"Just a game?"
Chu Zijin looked at him.
"You made the employees change the course record. They wanted to put your picture on the wall. I don’t think that’s ’just a game.’"
The table erupted into laughter again.
A waiter soon arrived.
After everyone ordered...
The conversation continued.
Meng Lan looked around the lively table.
For a moment...
She simply smiled.
Then her gaze settled on Shen Tian.
"Young Master Shen..."
Everyone gradually quieted down.
Meng Lan bowed her head slightly.
"Thank you."
Shen Tian blinked.
"For what?"
She smiled warmly.
"For inviting us."
She glanced toward Chi Lingxi.
"The two of us spend almost every day working at the restaurant."
"There aren’t many opportunities to go out. We laughed... We played... And honestly... I haven’t had this much fun in years."
Her smile softened.
"So... Thank you."
Shen Tian waved his hand.
"It wasn’t anything special."
"I’m just happy everyone enjoyed themselves."
Meng Lan shook her head.
"It was special to us."
Across the table...
Chi Lingxi quietly looked at Shen Tian.
She remembered how he had made sure everyone was included.
How he had laughed with everyone equally.
How he never acted arrogant despite his wealth.
Even when Yun Wanhe kept provoking him...
He had simply smiled.
Never once losing his composure.
A small smile unconsciously appeared on her face.
’.He’s kind.’
She quickly lowered her eyes to her glass.
’And...’
She hesitated.
A faint warmth spread across her cheeks.
’He’s really handsome when he smiles.’
Realizing what she had just thought...
Her face immediately became a little red.
’W-What am I thinking...?’
She hurriedly took a sip of water to hide her expression.
Unfortunately...
Meng Lan noticed.
A knowing smile appeared on her face.
She quietly leaned over.
"Lingxi."
"...Hm?"
"You’ve been looking at Young Master Shen quite a bit today."
Chi Lingxi nearly choked on her water.
"Cough— I-I haven’t!"
Meng Lan chuckled.
"Oh? I must’ve imagined it."
Chi Lingxi looked away.
"You imagined it."
But the slight blush on her ears betrayed her completely.
Across the table...
Bai Xue noticed the interaction.
She leaned toward Qin Ruobing.
"I think she is falling."
Qin Ruobing smiled into her teacup.
"I noticed."
Chu Mei quietly whispered to Chu Chuchu,
"Should we tease her?"
Chu Chuchu grinned.
"Not yet. She’s too innocent."
The sisters exchanged mischievous smiles.
Shen Tian chose to ignore the Chu sisters’ whispers and instead chatted with others.
. . .
Back at the sidewalk restaurant...
The evening had become much quieter.
The old man sat outside in his usual chair.
A bottle rested beside him.
He lazily sipped from a small cup while enjoying the cool breeze.
Footsteps approached.
Heavy ones.
The old man glanced up.
"You’re back."
Yun Wanhe looked utterly miserable.
His clothes were slightly wrinkled.
His expression looked as though the entire world had betrayed him.
Without even sitting down...
He began complaining.
"Master! I don’t understand! That man is completely unreasonable!"
"I outperformed everyone!"
"I displayed perfect control!"
"I even broke the course record!"
"But somehow..."
"He always beats me!"
"And all those women..."
"They don’t appreciate true talent at all!"
"They only pay attention to him!"
"I challenged him fairly again and again!"
"But they just mocked me!"
"They even left to eat without inviting me!"
The old man silently took another sip.
Yun Wanhe continued ranting.
"They don’t understand!"
’If this Immortal Emperor were at his peak—’ he thought to himself...
"Enough."
The old man’s voice cut through the air.
Yun Wanhe paused.
"Master?"
The old man slowly placed his cup down.
He rubbed his forehead.
Then looked directly at Yun Wanhe.
"Can you shut up for five minutes?"
"..."
Yun Wanhe froze.
The old man sighed deeply.
"Gosh... I’ve lived for over a hundred years. I’ve accepted plenty of disciples. But you..."
He pointed at Yun Wanhe.
"You’re talented. I’ll give you that. Very talented."
Yun Wanhe’s eyes brightened slightly.
Then the old man continued.
"But I’ve noticed something... you’re also unbelievably full of yourself."
"..."
"You lose. You blame luck. You lose again. You demand another competition. You lose that. You challenge him somewhere else. You lose again."
The old man poured himself another drink.
"At what point..."
He took a sip.
"Do you stop blaming everything else and admit someone might simply be better than you at something?"
Yun Wanhe immediately shook his head.
’How did he know about that!? Doesn’t matter!’
"Impossible!" Yun Wanhe yelled.
"I am a genius!"
The old man rolled his eyes.
"Yes. I know."
Yun Wanhe opened his mouth again.
"But—"
The old man raised a finger.
"If you say you’re a genius one more time... I’m beating you up."
"..."
Yun Wanhe slowly closed his mouth.
The old man leaned back in his chair.
"You know what your real problem is?"
Yun Wanhe remained silent.
"You don’t know how to lose. You think every contest is a matter of pride. You keep trying to prove you’re superior."
He looked toward the night sky.
"Meanwhile... Shen Tian.. He looks like he’s just having fun in life."
The old man chuckled to himself.
"That’s why everyone wants to be around him. He wasn’t trying to impress anyone. He simply enjoyed spending time with them."
He glanced back at Yun Wanhe.
"You, on the other hand... Spent the entire day trying to win. And somehow... You still ended up losing far more than a game of mini golf."
The old man having heard this rant was just guessing...
But he hit the nail on the head.
Yun Wanhe stood there in silence.
His fists slowly tightened.
’This dumb old man!’
