The Hidden Extra: The Lazy Prince Refuses to Ascend The Throne
Chapter 1066: The Enemy’s Celestial Mage (2)
Buzz!
Dozens of blue magic circles appeared behind Evalyn, glowing brightly before firing blue fireballs at her.
Evalyn didn’t want to take any chances, so she flapped her wings and flew higher into the sky.
But the fireballs seemed to have a mind of their own, chasing her from every direction.
Realizing she couldn’t keep running forever, Evalyn dodged through the air and slashed at the fireballs with her sword.
Slash!
The fireballs split in two before exploding violently in midair.
Evalyn burst through the black smoke and charged straight at the man in the black cloak.
Bang!
Her attack was blocked by the blue barrier. But this time, Evalyn already knew its weakness. She spun around before darting toward the man again.
Bang!
Her attack was so powerful that the barrier shook violently. A moment later, a faint cracking sound could be heard.
And finally...
Crash!
The barrier shattered like glass, sending shards flying in every direction.
"Die!"
Evalyn swung her sword and slashed at the man.
Whoosh!
The black-cloaked figure burst into flames, and her blade sliced straight through him.
Evalyn gasped in surprise.
She turned around and saw the man reappear behind her, completely unharmed.
"This is such a pain," she muttered irritably.
This was why she hated Celestial Mages so much. They weren’t just powerful; they also had all sorts of tricks up their sleeves.
Evalyn let out a long sigh and raised her sword.
The white light in her eyes grew brighter. She bent her knees and charged at the man.
He didn’t just stand there either. Blue and red flames burst from both his hands.
Without hesitation, he charged straight at Evalyn.
...
The battlefield was in utter chaos. The imperial cavalry’s sudden attack from behind had clearly shattered the priests’ morale.
Five hundred of them had already been killed by the imperial soldiers.
Fortunately, Arkam quickly realized the danger, but by then, it was already too late.
He ordered the thousand cavalrymen on the front lines to retreat and help the priests.
Unfortunately, that was easier said than done. The Valtanir troops trying to retreat and aid the priests were intercepted by the imperial forces led by Freya.
"Damn it!"
Arkam gritted his teeth in anger.
"We’ve been tricked!"
His hunch had been right. Something had been off about the imperial troops’ formation earlier, especially since Evalyn wasn’t where she was supposed to be on the front lines.
But he and Corvin had overlooked the possibility of a surprise attack from behind.
Desperate, Arkam tried to pull back the Valtanir soldiers still fighting on the front lines.
The priests’ safety was his top priority. The life of a single priest was worth more than those of ten ordinary soldiers.
After all, training someone to cast holy magic was far more difficult than training an ordinary soldier.
Meanwhile, the battle between Elina and Corvin continued to rage.
"Die!"
Corvin swung his sword downward.
Boom!
His sword slammed into the ground, sending up a cloud of dust that blocked their view.
Elina leaped backward, bent her knees, and charged toward Corvin.
Clang!
Their swords clashed.
Corvin was stronger, and he quickly forced Elina back. He then leaped into the air and raised his sword high above his head.
Seeing his attack, Elina didn’t panic. Instead, she grabbed a handful of dirt and threw it into his eyes.
"Argh!"
Corvin lost his balance, causing his attack to miss.
Taking advantage of the opening, Elina kicked him in the stomach and sent him flying backward.
She then grabbed her sword and leaped after him. Landing right on top of him, she began punching his face relentlessly.
"You dared to start a rebellion against the empire!? How dare you!?"
Thwack!
"You’ve killed millions of innocent people, haven’t you!? I’ll beat you until you regret what you’ve done!"
Thwack!
Thwack!
Blow after blow rained down on Corvin’s face. He tried to fight back, but he couldn’t. The dust and dirt stinging his eyes made it difficult for him to even see.
Elina didn’t stop there. She grabbed Corvin by the neck with her right hand and started choking him.
Corvin struggled to push her away, but he was having trouble breathing, and his efforts were in vain.
Just as Corvin was about to run out of breath, a shadow suddenly rushed toward Elina from the front.
Elina saw the attack coming and quickly raised her sword to block it.
However, the impact sent her flying backward.
She spun through the air before finally regaining her balance.
Looking down at her right hand, Elina saw that it was shaking violently, showing just how powerful the attack had been.
She then looked up and saw a man clad in red armor standing beside Corvin.
The man held a large sword in his right hand and stood motionless, staring at Elina.
"We meet again," Elina said with a faint smirk. "Yesterday, I struggled against you, but not this time!"
She had learned from Freya how to deal with this man, including his fatal weakness.
The man remained silent, making no attempt to respond.
Elina didn’t care. She bent her knees before darting toward him.
Meanwhile, Corvin managed to free himself and quickly retreated. He coughed repeatedly as he rubbed his sore neck.
He tried to open his eyes but couldn’t. Dust and sand had gotten into them, blurring his vision.
"Argh! Damn you, Elina Lorian!" he screamed furiously.
The desire to tear her to pieces welled up inside him. Not only had that bitch hurt him, but she had also beaten his face mercilessly.
The pain was so intense that even the simplest things, like opening his mouth, had become difficult.
"I’ll get you back... I’ll kill you! Just you wait!" he snarled, clenching his fists.
But right now, his top priority was finding a priest who could heal him. He couldn’t fight in this condition.
...
Boom!
A massive explosion erupted as Evalyn slashed at the fire dragon flying toward her.
The flames were terrifying, but Evalyn didn’t back down.
She flapped her wings and flew higher. But just as she was about to attack, her heart suddenly started racing.
"This is bad! I’ve reached the limit of my Hero Technique!" she shouted in panic.
She quickly stopped her attack and dove toward the ground. The moment her feet touched the ground, the wings on her back and the light in her eyes slowly faded.
Exhaustion hit her all at once. She gasped for breath, sweat dripping down her face.
"Is that all you’ve got? How disappointing."
A mocking voice came from above.
Evalyn looked up and saw the black-cloaked man staring down at her with a mocking smile.
She gritted her teeth in frustration. Fighting this man was much harder than fighting Elyan.
After all, she and Elyan were both skilled swordsmen. But this man was different. He was a Celestial Mage.
He was much faster than Evalyn, and she hadn’t even landed a single hit on him.
"Leave it to me, Lady Evalyn."
A calm, emotionless voice came from behind her.
Startled, Evalyn turned around and saw a woman in a purple robe with a sun symbol on the back.
"Cassiopeia?"
Cassiopeia simply smiled before looking up at the man.
"I didn’t expect you to go this far. Princess Elina was right. You’ve truly disappointed me, Draco..."
