Chapter 853: Fight and Kill

Chapter 853: Fight and Kill

The transport took heavy fire as it began its descent, fortunately no one was injured. As we left the vehicle, we wasted no time. Around us the Phalanx were already rushing towards the front line. It was five minutes away. We were in an ocean of Phalanx rushing to war.

"Everyone! Form up! The longer we delay, the more of our allies die." I commanded and the group double timed.

The formation was simple, but effective. A wedge. Much like Phoebe’s skein the other month, the strongest were at the front while the weakest were at the back.

The diamond shaped formation was going to help penetrate the Drakoshi line. We were going to create a gap and we were going to thrust deep into the Drakoshi with zero remorse.

I was acting as the tip. Although I wasn’t the strongest individual here, I was still the leader and when I could, I lead from the front. Nerissa and Rhapso were directly behind me. While Rhapso was not the strongest Physically amongst the Praetorians, but she still knew how to fight up close with deadly efficiency with her duel Xiphos’. Plus I knew out of everyone, these two would stick to the formation no matter what, meaning my flank was always secured.

Following up behind them I allowed free choice, though I had asked the weakest to remain in the centre of the diamond. The two knights that came with Rhea had taken up the rear and Alex, Lena’s friend, had taken the centre of the wedge, adapting her cannon to a shotgun type weapon.

I had also asked Onyx to take up the rear position too, to ensure we do not get flanked no matter what and Sapphire would be staying in the Mindspace until the battle opened up as she was too big and would get killed quickly and I could not have my mental state get damaged during such a large battle.

We took off immediately, engaging in a light jog to maintain formation on the move. We could already hear the conflict as we began to move, but the closer we got, the more bodies we began to see on both sides. Piled up in bloody conflicts.

As we approached the piles grew. The moment Drakoshi could be seen above a literal tide of Phalanx, our long range and auxiliary also began to engage with the countless Phalanx that were firing also.

The heavy cannons of the knights and the gauss weapons began dealing immense damage immediately, but they were fighting a drop in the grey tide.

This was unlike the sieges. From what I could see. The Emoth veterans were endless. I could see their ranks piling over the horizon, like our own. The fighting was going to be brutal.

"If you get injured. You fall back!" I yelled as we got closer and closer to the meat grinder that was the front line. "If you tire. You fall back, recuperate and rejoin when you are ready. I expect the most of you in this, the final wars of this world. I want none of you dead. Do you understand!?!"

"Yes Sentinel!" My squad roared out.

Hearing them I got ready. Only a few ranks of Phalanx were between us and the Grey tide now. Pulling out my Hoplon, I began to expand my legs to their fullest. Upon seeing the opening, I charged.

I didn’t even look. I just charged as hard as I could, putting my full force, mass and Gyrokinesis into forward momentum.

I heard squelching on the other side of the shield as I squashed at least a dozen Drakoshi between one another before the sheer mass of their tide prevented me from going further.

That is when I released Zircon. This was a serious close quarters. Holding her was actually a hindrance to my movements so I allowed her to fly freely. Every second she moved, flesh was cut and blood spilled while my Minigun fired its rounds where my fist and shield could not reach.

Every few seconds I fired a Psionic bullet point blank. A Drakoshi died. I deflected a blow with my shield I punched out, coating my hand in one of my Psionics, killing each with relative ease.

I had not fought in open conflict since the sieges. I had forgotten how swept away time became in a battle such as this. Killing became the priority. They die, or you do. You didn’t have time to think of anything else. But I had to.

Taking a brief moment, I turned my head slightly to my left, allowing my peripherals to check behind me. My concerns washed away. My allies were still in position. Everyone, the praetorians included, were covered from head to toe in blood.

Not knowing if anyone needed a moment or not, I decided to give them one anyway and began to manifest a large torrent of flame and pushed it diagonally to my right, creating a large opening for Rhapso who immediately seemed to understand my train of thought as she focused for a moment.

A fraction of a second later, the Drakoshi attacked each flank of the wedge four rows deep and were suddenly impaled by large spikes and were left there for moments before more Drakoshi tore their way through and the fighting resumed.

The battle resumed that way for some time. hack, slash, punch, bludgeon, crush, slam, smash, break, fire. It got dark at one point, but it quickly became bright again. I thought about looking up to see what it was, but I didn’t have a moment.

One thing I did know though is that my arms were aching and my new and improved armour had done its job so well that it was starting to take more than cosmetic damage. Still I resumed my fighting. I didn’t have time to get tired. I didn’t have time to think about myself. All I could do was fight and kill. Fight and kill

Fight and Kill

As I punched into an armoured Drakoshi, I swiftly pulled back, grabbing its entrails as I did to make sure it wasn’t getting back up and as I took a stance to punch forward again I realised no one was there?

I instantly came out of my battle trance and looked around. There were still Drakoshi. Some were even running over from the distance, but there were few, but that’s when I spotted something behind them.

Vats. Clone vats. Each second one of the hundreds of vats present would open and A Drakoshi would emerge, fully armoured and begin charging over.

The Emoth had brought their cloning station to the front line? Turning around quickly I realised there were still countless Drakoshi to the left and right flanks, but I could also see a massive column of Spartari forces that had pierced through their centre. We had broken through. Now was the chance to win.

"Ness! Rhapso! Destroy those vats! Everyone else, begin to flank!" I declared and began pouring my flames into the closest Drakoshi. I noticed also the wedge was a lot smaller than when it first started. The mechs were all gone and only a dozen or so Psionic elites were left, but the Phalanx had also begun to pour through.

Hoping that people just pulled back and were not dead. I began to unleash all my Psionic energy, decimating the rear flanks before I suddenly dodged to my left. As I did so, a gigantic javelin passed where I just stood, impaling multiple Drakoshi in the process.

Turning to face the thrower. It was a fourteen foot tall Drakoshi, brimming with muscles that looked one wrong tense away from bursting though its skin. It had another large javelin in its left hand and an axe that did not look like the usual Drakoshi craft in his right. A leader class.

I turned away from it for a moment to deal with the Drakoshi who had pulled away to flank me, but the beast then yelled in crude Spartari.

"NO! Leave Purple Reaper to me! Take back the gap!"

The other Drakoshi seemed to understand this and stopped their charge towards me. I didn’t allow them the satisfaction of running away though as my Minigun turned 180 on my shoulder and began firing at them as I stared down the big bastard who was slowly approaching me.

It then spat on the ground at my actions and pointed its javelin at me. "I should have expected such cowardice from you, Purple Reaper."

"You know me? Beast."

"Beast you say? Bah. I am not the animal trying so desperate to defend its den. This galaxy is ours now, human. Accept it."

It then approached further, stopping ten meters away. "Clan Oizik is weaker than I thought if they cannot catch and kill you. You don’t look like much."

"Yeah and you look like the cuck that has to clean up my jizz after I am finished with your whore queen." I replied, grinning under my helmet. It was getting too easy to piss off Drakoshi.

I then got into a combat stance as the big bastard began charging at me with wild fury.
