The Imperial Martial Pill Venerable
Chapter 487 - 486: Entering the City
'This is bad. I have to get out of here!'
The Jinlin City Lord was grievously wounded, while Mo Bokong was clearly on the mend. To make matters worse, Qin Ya—a Celestial Human whose true combat prowess was unfathomable—stood before him. If he lingered any longer, he would very likely die here today!
'Damn it! Victory was clearly within my grasp, yet things turned out like this!'
The Jinlin City Lord felt utterly aggrieved, but there was nothing he could do. Forcibly suppressing the urge to rush forward and crush Qin Ya, he shot up into the sky and fled in a hurry!
"He ran away. How boring."
Qin Ya offered an indifferent smile, put away his Breaking Army Spear, and walked toward Mo Bokong.
By now, thanks to the elixir Qin Ya had given him, Mo Bokong's injuries had healed considerably. However, the Yang Evil Qi was not so easily dispelled. Even with the elixir's aid, it was merely suppressed, but Mo Bokong didn't feel disappointed.
"Many thanks for your help in this calamity, Young Friend."
Seeing Qin Ya approach, Mo Bokong dared not be disrespectful. He cupped his hands in a salute and smiled. This was not just a show of gratitude; it was an acknowledgment of Qin Ya's strength and talent.
'To fight an Era-Defining powerhouse with only a Celestial Human's cultivation... how many people in this world could possibly do that!'
"It was merely a conditional exchange. Think nothing of it," Qin Ya said with a faint smile.
"Right, I have yet to learn your name, Young Friend."
"I am Qin Ya."
"Qin Ya, Qin Ya…" Mo Bokong murmured the name twice, his brow furrowed slightly. He was certain he had never heard it before, nor had he ever heard of such a peerless individual on the Beihuang Armor Celebrities List. 'How strange,' he thought.
Seeing his reaction, Qin Ya naturally knew what he was thinking but didn't elaborate.
"Young Friend Qin, you mentioned earlier that you needed a place to stay, correct? If you wouldn't mind, please allow me to host you," Mo Bokong said with a smile.
"Then I'll have to trouble you, City Lord."
The two then took to the air, crossing mountains and rivers. The vast distance was nothing to them, and soon, Qin Ya saw a massive, majestic city in the distance.
The sheer scale of the city far exceeded Qin Ya's imagination. Even back in the Southern Domain, he had never seen a city so large; there wasn't one that was even a tenth of its size. Furthermore, its fortifications were staggering.
The thousand-zhang-high walls were forged entirely from an unknown ore that emitted a faint, cyan glow. They were covered in densely carved Array Patterns, forming a colossal Grand Array that enveloped the entire city.
On the walls, figures in dark-red Armor patrolled. They were not mere Martial Artists; they were soldiers. The auras they exuded were incredibly powerful—the weakest among them was at the Celestial Human Realm, and there were at least hundreds, if not thousands, of them. Qin Ya couldn't help but marvel at the sight.
'In the entire Southern Domain, I've never even heard of, let alone seen, a city that could deploy so many Celestial Humans as simple guards,' Qin Ya thought. 'It truly lives up to the name of a Giant City!'
As the two of them flew closer, a general in Armor, his cultivation at the Half-Step King realm, stepped forward. His voice boomed like thunder, "Who goes there!"
Qin Ya glanced at Mo Bokong with a half-smile, his eyes seeming to ask, 'Aren't you the City Lord? Why are you being stopped?'
Mo Bokong felt a little embarrassed under Qin Ya's gaze. "Ha! See, Young Friend Qin? The defenses of my Qingkong Giant City aren't half-bad, are they?"
'They really are something else, stopping even their own City Lord.' Qin Ya's expression grew even more peculiar.
Mo Bokong coughed twice. His expression turned solemn, radiating an almost inviolable majesty. He produced a Seal the size of a human head, entirely pale cyan in color. Instantly, the Seal burst with light. "Qingkong City Lord, Mo Bokong!"
His voice, like rolling thunder, echoed unceasingly. Bathed in the Seal's light, the massive defensive barrier automatically parted to form an opening. Seeing this, Mo Bokong immediately led Qin Ya through it. Then, with a deep groaning sound like muffled thunder, the colossal city gates swung open, and the two flew inside.
The moment they passed through, a dense wave of Primordial Qi washed over him. Qin Ya took a deep breath. While it couldn't compare to Kunyun Palace, it was still exceptionally good—especially considering this giant city was several times larger than Kunyun Palace.
"Well, I'll be. What a grand design!"
At that moment, the Ting Xiao Sword at Qin Ya's waist vibrated lightly, its tone laced with amazement. "Well, I'll be. This city is truly something else."
"It's not just the outer walls. The entire city is filled with individual Arrays! The ground, the walls, the layout of the buildings—everything radiates a profound and mystical quality!"
"The arrangement and combination of each Array form a single, colossal Grand Array that integrates defense, offense, Qi-gathering, suppression, and more. Incredible, truly incredible."
It had been a long time since Qin Ya had seen Ting Xiao this excited. He immediately asked, "What is it, Ting Xiao? Could the one who laid these Arrays possibly be more skilled than you?"
The Ting Xiao Sword trembled lightly. "Of course. I am humbled in comparison. If you were to call me an Array Grandmaster, then the person who set up these Arrays is, at the very least, a Grandmaster!"
"Besides, a Grand Array of this scale could never be built overnight. If I were to construct it, it would take at least ten years, and even after it was finished, it would require constant adjustments and improvements…" Ting Xiao said, its voice filled with excitement.
To Ting Xiao, this monumental Grand Array was no different than a massive Treasure Vault. If it could study it thoroughly, its own mastery of the Array Dao would ascend to a whole new level. As a former Pill Venerable, this was a feeling Qin Ya understood completely.
After all, in his previous life, he had often forgone food and sleep for a single high-quality elixir. It was common for him to enter seclusion for years just to study one to completion.
"Come with me, Young Friend Qin."
Seemingly noticing Qin Ya's deep interest in the giant city, Mo Bokong deliberately slowed their pace, giving him a proper tour and introducing the various sights. About an hour later, they finally arrived at the City Lord's Mansion in the center of the city.
"Young Friend Qin, this is the City Lord's Mansion."
SWOOSH! Suddenly, two figures—one black, one white—appeared. They were two Martial Arts Kings, both wearing masks and distinctively colored Armor. They saluted Mo Bokong respectfully, half-kneeling in the void. "We welcome the City Lord's return!"
Mo Bokong nodded. "Rise."
He then turned to Qin Ya with a slight smile. "Young Friend Qin, these two are the Guard Commanders of the City Lord's Mansion, Black Dragon and White Wolf. They are also my right-hand men."
"I am Qin Ya. It is a pleasure to meet you both, Commanders."
Qin Ya offered the two of them a faint smile as a gesture of goodwill.
He then observed the two and found that their names suited them perfectly.
The one named Black Dragon was clad in black Armor. The pauldrons and breastplate were all shaped like ferocious dragon heads. He wore a jet-black mask decorated with golden patterns that revealed only a pair of piercing eyes. He exuded an air of sheer dominance.
The one named White Wolf wore a silver-white mask. His Armor was more slender and streamlined, with elegant lines. His pauldrons were shaped like wolf heads, and strands of snow-white fur fluttered in the wind, adding to his sharp, chilling presence.
'These are two battle-hardened warriors!'
That was Qin Ya's first impression.
"Greetings, Young Master Qin."
Perhaps because they were generals, or simply out of habit, their tone was somewhat stiff. Still, they couldn't help but size up Qin Ya. They could tell that the City Lord placed great importance on this young man, so he was surely no ordinary person.
