Chapter 1519: Chapter 1519: Rebirth Through Despair (Part 2)
Xu Xianrong leaned against the stone wall of the cave, continuously circulating her qi to adjust the injuries within her body. She was already much better than before—at least her breathing had become a lot smoother.
She kept her gaze fixed on the pale-golden surface of the water, but that lake surface remained utterly calm, without a single ripple.
The more she looked, the more her heart trembled. With the water so calm, could it be that Lin Tian had already...
She didn’t dare think deeper, because that was simply too terrifying.
Just then, a cloud drifted across the sky and blocked the sunlight. The bright cave suddenly grew extremely dim; in the low light, the stone wall ahead looked like a monster’s face, so hideous that a chill rose from the depths of one’s heart.
Suddenly, the calm water surface rippled. Xu Xianrong’s eyes widened as she tried to make her vision clearer.
She saw that in the pale-golden spring, bubbles were rising one after another, and the pale-golden surface was actually being dyed a dark crimson—that was the color of blood!
Xu Xianrong’s face turned extremely ugly in an instant; the more she looked, the more she felt that blood belonged to Lin Tian.
Crash~
The water suddenly boiled, and that massive python, thick as a water vat, burst out of the water again.
The giant python let out an angry, thunderous hiss. Its voice sounded incredibly hollow within the cave, even echoing back, making it terrifying to hear.
Unlike before, this time it actually showed no fear of the light outside. Its enormous body leaped directly onto the ground, its huge head landing only two or three meters away from Xu Xianrong before slamming heavily down.
The water droplets sliding off its body instantly soaked the ground, as if a rainstorm had just passed.
Xu Xianrong’s expression changed drastically. Ignoring the injuries on her body, she lunged forward in a single stride, gripping Thousand Jin Rock in her hand, assuming an extremely cautious defensive posture.
Although she wasn’t very adept at wielding this giant blade, she felt that for self-preservation... it shouldn’t be too much of a problem.
However, as Xu Xianrong watched the giant python warily, it merely lay on the ground, madly twisting its body, slamming itself against the surrounding stone walls, making ’thump thump’ sounds. Xu Xianrong could even feel the earth under her feet trembling slightly.
All of a sudden, a streak of cyan light stabbed out from the python’s head, followed by blood spraying out like a little fountain.
Looking closely, that cyan light was Thousand Cyan Threads, which Xu Xianrong was extremely familiar with!
Next, Xu Xianrong noticed that on the fleshy lump at the top of the python’s head, there was also a sword mark, from which blood was trickling out.
A smile began to spread across Xu Xianrong’s face; as she smiled, tears started falling. Those were tears of joy. If Lin Tian were standing in front of her right now, Xu Xianrong might very well rush up and bite him—who told him to make her worry and be scared like this?
Swish~
Immediately after, another sword stabbed out from the python’s head. After eight consecutive strikes, Lin Tian finally managed to pry open the python’s mouth and crawled out in an extremely bedraggled state.
The snake’s head had been poked with more than a dozen holes by Lin Tian, yet it still wasn’t completely dead. The giant python’s central nervous system was spread throughout its body, so even after brain death, its bodily nerves hadn’t died yet and remained abnormally active; it would take another ten-plus minutes before it could quiet down.
Xu Xianrong hurriedly used her Lightweight Skill to drift over, looking at Lin Tian with concern and asking, "You didn’t suffer any serious injury, did you?"
Lin Tian forced out a smile and gently shook his head. "Don’t worry, I’m fine. I just overdrew my Spiritual Qi. Let’s stay farther away from it first; it’s not completely dead yet."
Xu Xianrong turned back and watched that still-twisting body warily, nodding. She also felt they should wait until this giant python calmed down a bit.
The two of them sat down again beside the cave’s stone wall. A moment ago Xu Xianrong had still been thinking of biting Lin Tian, but now she abandoned that idea. After all... this fellow had just crawled out of a snake’s mouth. Even though he didn’t stink, he was still covered in a great deal of snake blood and looked... extremely disgusting.
Lin Tian, however, had no leisure to care about such things at the moment; he needed to circulate his arts to heal. His body was not as sound as it appeared on the outside. The pressure inside the giant python’s mouth was enormous; earlier, when he drove Thousand Cyan Threads into the fleshy lump, he had almost been chewed to pieces. Right now, the internal injuries in his body were not light at all.
Yu Yang spoke with some displeasure, "Kid, you were far too reckless this time! Just now, in that hair’s-breadth moment, you almost died, understand?!"
Lin Tian gave a bitter smile and replied, "Master, I really had no other choice. I could only play this card. Almost dying is still just ’almost’, right? Look at me now, perfectly fine. Fortune favors the bold."
Yu Yang snapped, "You call this ’perfectly fine’, you little shit? With the injuries in your body, you won’t recover without resting for several days. It’s only because your constitution is strong; if it were someone weaker, he wouldn’t get out of bed for the rest of his life."
Lin Tian chuckled; there was simply no way to refute those words.
"Enough. When the nerves in that giant python’s body are all dead, drag its carcass out of the water. Then you and that little girl go soak in the Dragon Transformation Pool for a while. It’ll be much faster than you sitting here circulating your arts to heal."
A gleam flashed in Lin Tian’s eyes—undisguised delight. He hadn’t expected that the pool’s water could also heal injuries; that made things even better.
"But remember, the water of the Dragon Transformation Pool can only be used for soaking, not for drinking, and definitely not for making medicine. Got it?"
"Disciple will remember."
Yu Yang continued, "It’s far more valuable than that wild bull. Don’t be so generous as to give it all to the Xu Family again. We have to keep some of what’s in there for ourselves."
"I understand," Lin Tian replied softly.
After nearly half an hour, the giant python’s frenziedly twisting body finally stilled. Its whole body was covered in a thin layer of golden scales, which meant that when it slammed against the stone walls, it didn’t suffer a single injury; instead, it had nearly brought the cave down.
By this time, the clouds in the sky had been blown away by the wind, and sunlight poured down once more. The cave was bright again, feeling much better than the somber gloom from before.
Lin Tian slowly stood up, glanced at Xu Xianrong, and asked, "How’s your recovery?"
Xu Xianrong’s face was utterly bloodless. She lightly shook her head; clearly, for injuries as severe as the ones she’d suffered, such a short time was nothing more than a drop in the bucket.
"Alright, then you just sit here and wait for me a bit."
With that, Lin Tian walked toward the Dragon Transformation Pool. Xu Xianrong watched curiously, puzzled over what this guy was planning to do.
She saw Lin Tian stand at the edge of the pool, spread his arms wide, and wrap them around the python’s body. But on his own he simply couldn’t get his arms around it; it would take at least two people to encircle it.
She only heard Lin Tian open his mouth and let out a loud shout, every cell in his body exerting its strength as he tried to drag the python’s body out of the water.
