Chapter 1369: Chapter 691: Contracting Mite Disease (Part 2)

What kind of ghostly thing did he get involved with? Ning Xiaoxian thought for a moment, reaching out to support his head.

“Sister?” Huangfuming opened his eyes, which were reddened from fever, filled with doubt.

“Relax.” She flipped his eyelids and discovered fine red lines crisscrossing the lower one.

“It seems like there might be parasites.” She took a Jade spoon and applied some ointment to his palm, gently smoothing it out.

The medication took effect quickly, disappearing in no time, evidently fully absorbed by the skin. Huangfuming noticed a tight sensation on his hand.

Ning Xiaoxian took out a Tusk Dagger and made a cut on his palm. Her blade went deep, slantingly cutting into the muscle by half an inch, yet not a single drop of fresh blood flowed from the wound. This was the effect of the ointment applied just now.

She looked up and instructed Huangfuming: “It will hurt a bit, bear with it.”

He lazily responded: “A little pain is no big deal, just go ahead and do what you need to do.”

Ning Xiaoxian pinched his palm and forcefully pulled it open. The wound split, the muscles turned outward, revealing fresh red lines. The palm is one of the most delicate and nerve-rich parts of the human body, yet Huangfuming didn’t even twitch, as if it wasn’t his hand.

Both had keen eyesight, immediately seeing dense red silks flashing past the wound, so densely packed as to make one’s skin crawl. The deeper she opened it, the faster these red silks burrowed into the muscle.

Huangfuming exclaimed: “What is this thing?” With such an unidentified creature crawling around inside him, he surely felt creepy.

Ning Xiaoxian did not answer, but took out several differently colored medicinal powders, sprinkled them into the wound one by one, and observed carefully for a moment, finding that the red silks seemed afraid of strangers, but these powders were mostly ineffective on them.

There’s still too little experience; if Changtian were here, he might diagnose the cause at first glance. Yet, if he were here, he might slap Huangfuming to death rather than cure him. Her face couldn’t help but show a troubled look.

At this point, Huangfuming was in even worse shape, his eyelids about to close. “Don’t sleep,” she gently shook his shoulder, “If you fall asleep, you may not wake up; this worm poison is rather fierce.”

“Worm?” Even though Huangfuming bore signs of drowsiness, he forced himself awake, “Take your time, I’m not feeling uncomfortable now, my internal organs feel warmly comfortable instead.”

Ning Xiaoxian was taken aback, exclaiming: “What did you say, the internal organs feel warm?”

Huangfuming’s voice was soaked with sleepiness: “Yes, like soaking in hot water, rather comfortable.”

A thought floated in, causing her to shiver uncontrollably.

“Could it be…” she murmured, sprinkling a circle of fine powder around Huangfuming, enclosing him in, then pulled out a Beads and had him hold it in his mouth.

As soon as this Beads entered his mouth, an abundant chill emanated, sending Huangfuming shivering, feeling as though he fell into an icehouse, freezing from the skin right to the organs as if even his bone marrow would solidify! Within a few breaths, his lips turned purple, and even his breath became icy white.

However, with this, most of the sleepiness was frozen away. Huangfuming was not disturbed but happy, for he could now see during introspection that the tiny red silk worms in his body were shivering with cold, their crawling slowed significantly, clearly disliking the low temperature yet paralyzed but not dead.

He slowly reopened his eyes, seeing Ning Xiaoxian take out a white Jade Bottle, uncorking it to pour two drops of fresh red liquid onto a Jade Dishware placed by his hand, bringing a slight pungent smell. Huangfuming exclaimed: “Blood?”

Ning Xiaoxian focused intently on his hand. The wound in Huangfuming’s palm started wriggling dramatically. Looking closely, it was not his muscles moving, but those hair-thin red worms scrambling over, lingering at the wound for a moment before forming a group and marching towards the Jade Dishware, seemingly unable to resist the scent of those drops of blood.

The red strange insect formed a winding red trail on the ground, stretching from Huangfuming’s palm all the way to the Jade Dishware, with occasional stragglers being blocked by the powder sprinkled on the ground, eventually crawling back to the group.

Huangfuming asked in amazement: “What kind of blood is this?”

“Golden Chicken Blood,” Ning Xiaoxian replied without lifting her eyes, and after confirming the blood was effective against the red worms, she simply placed the Jade Bottle beside the dish, “Golden Chicken is a nemesis of all evils, ordinary poisonous insects, and fierce Gu cannot withstand it. However, for these worms, the blood of their natural enemy serves as the best bait!”

There were only a few drops of blood in the dish, too scarce for the worms, and after licking the dish clean, it was not enough to satisfy them. Upon smelling more Golden Chicken Blood from the Jade Bottle, they turned and crawled inside. Before long, no new red silk worms came from the wound in Huangfuming’s palm; they seemed to have all been lured out.

She carefully sealed the bottle cap tight before putting it away, saying: “What you hold in your mouth is the inner core from the brain of a Heavenly Centipede with seven hundred years of cultivation, which has an icy attribute. I usually use it to chill wine. These worms do not withstand cold, and the Golden Chicken Blood is filled with yang energy, currently a boon for them, so most have been fished out.” Despite Huangfuming rolling his eyes, she pretended not to notice, “If I’m not mistaken, this is an extremely difficult ancient poisonous creature to deal with—a Yong Worm!”

Upon saying this, even Huangfuming’s eyes showed a twinkle: “This is the Yong Worm?” (To be continued.
