The three Territory Guardians currently have distinct roles. They are not simply three bosses guarding the same thing.

1. Verdant Fang Ravager — Guardian of the Territory’s Outer Defense

  • Level: 38
  • Grade: Commander
  • Potential: Lord
  • Status:Defeated — 1/3 Guardians
  • Primary role: Hunts intruders and threats moving through the Verdant Territory.
  • Specialization: Pursuit, tracking, ambush, adaptation.
  • Key traits: Venom Dominion, Burrowing, Adaptive Scales, Mana Tracking, Guardian Authority.
  • What it protected: The outer territorial network and its stability.
  • Why it mattered: It was essentially the territory's hunter/warden, eliminating threats before they could reach deeper structures.

Kael defeated it because he could outthink its hunting patterns and eventually exploit its adaptations.

2. Verdant Mountain Wyrm — Guardian of What Lies Beneath

  • Level: 44
  • Grade: Lord
  • Potential: Overlord
  • Status:Alive
  • Primary role: Protects the ancient structure and sealed chamber beneath the mountain.
  • Specialization: Physical defense, earth manipulation, mountain protection.
  • Key traits: Mountain Armor, Verdant Regeneration, Earth Manipulation, Mana Absorption, Guardian Authority.
  • Ancient instruction:

“THE SECOND GUARDIAN DOES NOT PROTECT THE TERRITORY. IT PROTECTS WHAT LIES BENEATH IT.”

The Wyrm is therefore not primarily a territorial enforcer. Its actual duty is preventing anyone from reaching the ancient chamber.

It also knows something about an ancient Darven predecessor who entered that chamber, returned changed, and carried something away.

3. Verdant Crystal Behemoth — Guardian of the Territory’s Core Stability

  • Level: 47
  • Grade: Lord
  • Potential: Overlord
  • Status:Alive
  • Primary role: Maintains/suppresses the deeper mana and sealing network.
  • Specialization: Absorption, suppression, stabilization.
  • Key traits: Crystal Armor, Mana Absorption, Verdant Regeneration, Territory Suppression, Guardian Authority.
  • What it protects: The structural stability of the ancient seal/network, rather than simply defending a physical location.

This is why the Behemoth appeared when the mountain's seal began destabilizing. Its function is closer to a living stabilizer than a conventional guardian beast.

The important distinction

The current structure is:

Fang Ravager → Outer defense / hunter
↓
Mountain Wyrm → Protects the buried chamber
↓
Crystal Behemoth → Stabilizes the deeper sealing network

And the Verdant Horned Basilisk is different again:

  • Level 41
  • Grade Lord
  • Potential Overlord
  • Territory Lord
  • Controls the broader Verdant Territory and its subordinate monsters.
  • Uses the territory's mana network as a battlefield.
  • It is not one of the three Territory Guardians.

So the hierarchy is roughly:

Verdant Horned Basilisk

→ territorial ruler

Three Territory Guardians

→ specialized protectors maintaining different layers of the territory/seal

Ancient sealed entity

→ the thing beneath the mountain that the guardians are ultimately trying to contain.

And this explains why Chapter 39 is important: the guardians weren't turning against Kael. All three were reacting to the same deeper threat. Their priorities temporarily shifted from defending the territory against Kael to preventing the ancient sealed entity from emerging
