The Lin's Patriarch is weird.
Chapter 196: Cultivation Technique: Red Grade.
Chapter 196: 196: Cultivation Technique: Red Grade.
The elders exchanged glances before the supreme elder, Lin Shuli, stepped forward.
"Patriarch, the Winter Harvest has been proceeding smoothly."
She paused before continuing.
"The spirit beast hunt began three days ago. The cultivators who came from the other families and cities have already entered Yew Woods, and the number of participants is higher than we initially expected."
Lin Xuan nodded thoughtfully.
"And the arrangements within the city?"
"Everything is under control. The inns and restaurants are operating at full capacity, and the representatives of the various families have been properly accommodated."
Lin Shuli hesitated briefly before adding,
"There have been a few minor disputes between the visiting cultivators, but nothing serious enough to affect the event."
Lin Xuan leaned back slightly.
"I see. How has the royal family responded to all of this?"
"Apart from sending an envoy, they have not shown any other signs of involvement."
"Which envoy did they send?"
"It is General Xiang Haoti. He sent word that he wishes to have a conversation with you after you exit seclusion."
"General Xiang, huh? Very well. I will meet him after this meeting."
Lin Xuan remembered that man very clearly.
General Xiang Haoti was the very same envoy the royal family had sent when the Lin Family was formally recognized as a Rank Eight family.
The meeting continued smoothly after that, with the elders discussing the remaining matters concerning the family and the Winter Harvest.
Once everything had been settled, Lin Xuan finally stood from his seat.
"Have someone come and clear away the corpses."
Only then did the elders seem to remember that they had spent the entire meeting sitting in a room with five corpses lying nearby.
———————————————————
[Congratulations! Another one of your family members has successfully entered the Golden Core Realm.]
[Rewarding you with a random cultivation technique.]
[Would you like to claim your reward?]
"Yes."
The moment Lin Xuan responded, the scroll in front of him slowly unfurled.
A crimson glow suddenly burst from its surface, illuminating the room as ancient characters appeared across the parchment.
Lin Xuan’s eyes widened.
"I can’t believe it. It’s a Red-grade cultivation technique, and not just Red-grade. It is top quality."
He stared at the technique with undisguised surprise.
For the record, the Lin Family’s current cultivation technique was only Blue-grade and of Low quality.
Even so, it was already considered a very good cultivation technique within the Lin Family.
Unlike martial techniques, which focused on how a cultivator fought and used their strength, cultivation techniques focused on how they cultivated that strength in the first place.
A cultivation technique guided spiritual energy through the body, allowing a cultivator to absorb spiritual energy, refine it, strengthen their cultivation, and advance through the realms.
A martial technique, on the other hand, taught a cultivator how to use that strength in battle.
In simple terms, a cultivation technique determined how quickly and efficiently you grew stronger, while a martial technique determined how effectively you used that strength.
Cultivation techniques were ranked according to four grades.
Green was the lowest, followed by Blue, then Red, and finally Golden.
There were rumors that grades beyond Golden existed, but no one had ever seen a Golden-grade technique with their own eyes, let alone anything above it.
Each grade was further divided into three qualities: Low, Good, and Top.
The same ranking system applied to martial techniques as well.
The Lin Family’s Trojan Spear Technique was a Green grade, Good quality martial technique, while the Cloud Chasing Movement Technique was a Blue grade, Top quality technique.
Staring at the new cultivation technique that had fallen into his hands, Lin Xuan swallowed audibly.
He could hardly believe what he was holding.
Just as he was about to examine the technique more closely, a familiar voice suddenly came from outside the hall.
"Father, Father, are you here?"
Lin Zhaoyue hurried into the hall, her footsteps echoing through the room.
She immediately noticed several servants carrying the corpses away. She stared at them for a moment before turning her attention toward Lin Xuan.
"What brings you here?" Lin Xuan asked.
Zhaoyue hopped over to him with an eager expression.
"Father, let me participate in this year’s hunt as well."
"You? You are too young."
"Young?" Zhaoyue stared at him incredulously. "Father, I’m a regressor! And you even allowed Zhaofeng to participate, so why can’t I?"
"Zhaofeng entered the hunt?"
"Yes! Do you see how unfair that is?"
Lin Xuan frowned slightly.
"Hmm. Has that child already mastered the Cloud Chasing Movement Technique?"
Zhaoyue froze in place as she stared at her father for a few moments, her mind working through what he had just said.
Then her eyes suddenly widened and she slapped her palm against her other hand.
"So that’s how it is! Now I know how he has been sneaking out!"
Lin Xuan chuckled softly.
Seeing her expression, he decided to show her the reward he had just received. He took out the red-grade cultivation technique and held the scroll in his hand.
In an instant, Zhaoyue stared at it in shock.
The aura emanating from the scroll was incredibly powerful. It was no weaker than the aura of a peak Golden Core cultivator.
That could only mean one thing.
This cultivation technique was extraordinary.
"Father, can I cultivate this?" she immediately asked.
Lin Xuan laughed as he reached out and gently rubbed her hair.
"Absolutely. Come, let us take a look at it together."
"Okay!"
Zhaoyue happily jumped into his arms.
The thought of joining the hunt had already left her mind. At this point, the only thing she cared about was finding out just how powerful her father’s new cultivation technique was and whether it was suitable for her.
Despite the many years she had spent roaming the world, she had never encountered anything that could compare to the aura this cultivation technique emitted.
Seeing her act like a child again, Lin Xuan raised his hand and gently rubbed her hair before opening the scroll together with her.
The first thing they saw was a single line.
Nine Heavens Ascension Mantra.
