Chapter 201: 201: The chase [1]
Yew Woods:
Deep inside one of the cave left behind by hunters from previous years, a young girl carefully tended to the wounds of a boy lying on the cold stone floor.
"Don’t move. You’re severely injured," she said, gently pressing a cloth against one of his wounds.
The boy stopped moving and slowly looked around the unfamiliar cave.
"Where are we?" he asked weakly.
The girl bit down on a medicinal herb and chewed it for a moment before muttering, "We’re in an abandoned cave. Don’t worry, we’re safe here. Hehe I still can’t believe you managed to win against that wolf."
She spat the chewed herb into her palm and rubbed it between her hands before carefully applying it to the wound on his stomach.
The boy winced from the pain but forced himself to remain still.
The girl glanced at him and frowned. "I told you not to move. If you tear the wound open again, I won’t be able to treat you properly."
The girl carefully spread the crushed herb across the wound before pressing a clean strip of cloth over his stomach.
She tied it tightly enough to keep the medicine in place, then reached for another bundle of herbs beside her.
"This should help stop the bleeding," she said, carefully examining the other wounds across his body.
The boy glanced down at himself and noticed several deep claw marks across his chest and shoulder.
"I thought I was going to die back there," he admitted.
The girl paused briefly before continuing to clean the blood from his shoulder.
"You mean we were going to die back there, right?" she asked.
The boy looked at her for a moment before giving a weak laugh. "Haha, I guess so."
The girl continued tending to his wounds for a few moments before finally glancing at him.
"By the way, are you from the Lin Family?" she asked. "And is your name really Fengzhao?"
The boy frowned slightly at the name before shaking his head.
"My name is Zhaofeng, and yes, I’m from the Lin Family," he replied.
He looked at her curiously and asked, "What gave away my identity?"
The girl smiled faintly as she continued applying the medicine.
"I’ve seen that martial technique of yours before," she said.
Zhaofeng’s eyes narrowed slightly as he looked at her. "My martial technique?"
"Yes," she replied.
She then gently placed her hand over his eyes and leaned closer, whispering softly into his ear, "Sleep for now. Let me guard you, I’ll wake you up if anything happens."
Zhaofeng looked at her for a moment before slowly nodding.
"Alright, thank you for saving me."
His body relaxed as he closed his eyes, and within moments, he began to drift into sleep.
However, just as his consciousness was fading, a sudden thought surfaced in his mind.
How did we escape from those wolves?
His brows furrowed slightly as he continued thinking.
Didn’t an entire pack of wolves appear just when I was about to kill the Silver Wolf?
The question lingered in his mind for a few moments.
Then, unable to keep himself awake any longer, Zhaofeng finally fell asleep.
The girl quietly watched him for a moment before a faint smile appeared on her face.
Suddenly, her appearance began to change.
Her youthful features gradually matured, her figure becoming that of an elegant woman.
The disguise faded completely, revealing Qin Xishu.
Qin Xishu stretched her neck slightly before sitting down beside the sleeping Zhaofeng.
She glanced at him with a thoughtful expression and muttered, "This Lin Family is becoming more and more interesting."
She leaned back against the cave wall and quietly smiled.
"Elder Sister, I think I finally understand why you would choose to consummate with him."

Lin Xuan and the two girls soon arrived at the edge of the Yew Woods.
As far as the eye could see, the entire forest was covered in snow, while countless leafless trees stretched toward the sky.
The bitter cold wind swept through the woods, carrying snow across the frozen ground.
Every now and then, groups of cultivators could be seen hunting spirit beasts deeper within the forest.
Despite the dangers of Yew Woods, most of them appeared to be handling their prey without much difficulty.
Lin Xuan glanced around for a moment before deciding that it was time to use the compass.
He took out the Xinyuan Luo, and handed it to Zhaocao.
"This artifact has a rather serious side effect if it is used for too long, so try to find Zhaofeng’s location as quickly as possible," Lin Xuan instructed.
Zhaocao obediently nodded before taking the compass from his hand.
She then injected her spiritual qi into the artifact.
The moment her spiritual energy entered the Xinyuan Luo, the compass began to tremble slightly in her hands.
Its needle slowly turned before pointing toward the depths of the Yew Woods.
Zhaocao looked toward the direction indicated by the compass and tightened her grip around it.
"I found him," she said as she pointed deeper into the Yew Woods.
Lin Xuan immediately turned the flying sword in the direction she pointed and accelerated through the forest.
At the same time, Qin Xishu, who had been sitting leisurely beside the sleeping Zhaofeng, suddenly sat upright.
"Divination?" she muttered as she glanced toward the direction of Lin Xuan’s group.
Without wasting any time, she picked up Zhaofeng and immediately began running deeper into the Yew Woods.
Zhaocao who was holding tightly onto the compass gradually stared at the compass all confused.
"Patriarch, Zhaofeng seems to be running away," she said.
Lin Zhaoyue immediately leaned over to look at the compass and noticed that its needle was moving in a strange zigzag pattern.
"Ah, wait. It’s because we’re both looking at it at the same time," she said before quickly looking away.
Lin Xuan glanced at the compass and then at the direction ahead before speaking calmly.
"Zhaocao, hold on. We’ll definitely catch up to him."
He paused for a moment before adding, "At least now we know that he’s alive."
