Chapter 46. Intelligence organisation?
Chapter 46: 46. Intelligence organisation?
Lin Xuan walked over and gently rubbed Lin Zhaoyue’s head as a warm smile appeared on his face.
"It’s a promise."
The little girl looked up at him and the worry in her eyes seems to ease a bit.
At that exact moment, a familiar mechanical voice echoed inside Lin Xuan’s mind.

Before Lin Xuan could digest the first quest, another notification immediately followed.

[ New Quest Unlocked! ]

[ Save at least one of the sisters. ]
[ Reward: 100 Small Mint Spirit Stones. ]
[ Bonus Reward: Save both sisters to receive three times the reward. ]

Lin Xuan’s footsteps came to an abrupt halt.
Spirit stones were one of the most important resource to a cultivator.
Their quality was divided into five grades.
Poor, good, excellent, mint and then prestine.
Spirit stones naturally formed within spirit ponds, and the quality of the spirit pond determined the quality of the stones it produced.
Besides quality, spirit stones were also classified by their sizes, small, medium and large.
Lin Xuan quietly drew in a sharp breath.
The highest-quality spirit stones their clan had ever possessed were merely at Good-grade.
Yet now the system was offering him as many as three hundred Small Mint Spirit Stones.
Just the thought of such a reward made even his heartbeat quicken.
"Patriarch Lin?"
Zhao Moying’s gentle voice pulled Lin Xuan back to reality.
She looked at him with a hint of concern as she noticed him stopped walking.
"Are you alright?"
Lin Xuan blinked before the system notifications disappeared from his mind.
He quickly regained his usual calm expression.
"I’m fine. I was simply thinking about something."
Seeing that he did not appear unwell, Zhao Moying gave a small nod and did not press the matter further.
"That’s good. I was worried something had happened."
Lin Xuan smiled reassuringly.
"My apologies for making everyone wait. Let’s continue."
The group resumed their journey and before long, the group arrived once more at the entrance of the Blue Sea Restaurant.
Before the group could step inside the Blue Sea Restaurant, the waiter from earlier hurried over to welcome them.
A polite smile spread across his face.
"Honored guests, welcome back."
His gaze shifted toward Hong Shaoyun.
"You’ve done well. You may return to your duties now."
Hong Shaoyun quietly lowered her head.
"Yes."
The waiter then turned back toward Lin Xuan and the others.
"If everyone would please follow me—"
"No."
Lin Zhaoyue suddenly interrupted him.
The waiter stopped mid-sentence as he watched her point toward Hong Shaoyun.
"I want her to stay."
The waiter’s smile froze as he slowly turned to look at Hong Shaoyun.
Then he looked back at Lin Zhaoyue.
A trace of confusion appeared in his eyes.
"Young Miss... What do you mean by that?"
He frowned slightly before addressing Hong Shaoyun directly.
"What is going on?"
Hong Shaoyun’s face turned pale.
Her fingers instinctively tightened around the corner of her sleeve.
Even so, she forced herself to remain composed.
"I... I don’t know what the Young Miss is talking about. I still have work to do."
She respectfully bowed.
"Please excuse me."
Without daring to linger another moment, she turned around and quickly walked away.
Lin Zhaoyue instinctively took a step forward but before she could say anything else, Lin Xuan gently rested a hand on her shoulder.
At the same time, his voice sounded inside her mind.
"Don’t be hasty, we’ll eventually save them. Acting recklessly now will only make things worse."
Then, as if nothing had happened, he smiled faintly and spoke aloud.
"Zhaoyue. We already have plenty of servants at home. There is no need to trouble others."
Lin Zhaoyue immediately understood what her father meant and lowered her head.
"I’m sorry, Father."
Lin Xuan gently rubbed her head.
"It’s alright."
The waiter watched the brief exchange without saying a word.
After a moment, he smiled once more.
"If the honored guests would please follow me."
With that, he turned around and personally led the group toward the upper floors of the Blue Sea Restaurant.
Just then, a voice transmission suddenly entered Lin Xuan’s mind.
"Oi, scrawny kid. What was that just now? What kind of place is this? Are the children here working voluntarily?"
Lin Xuan was momentarily caught off guard.
He had only just become accustomed to Zhao Moying’s gentle and graceful image and now hearing such rough words from her felt strangely unreal.
Unable to help himself, he turned to look at her, Zhao Moying was wearing the same sweet and elegant smile as before.
She even tilted her head slightly, as though she were innocently wondering why he kept staring at her.
Lin Xuan quietly swallowed.
He immediately turned his gaze forward again before replying through a voice transmission.
"Most likely not.
From everything I’ve observed, the girl who came to find us is being threatened. Her sister is also caught up in this.
Right now, my priority is making sure both of them leave this place safely."
Zhao Moying gave a small nod and did not send another voice transmission.
Instead, she quietly followed behind the group as though nothing had happened.
A few moments later, the waiter stopped before the familiar private room and respectfully opened the door.
As soon as everyone entered, Su Qingci walked forward with his hands clasped together.
A warm smile filled his face, as though their earlier unpleasant meeting had never happened.
"Welcome once again, Patriarch Lin. It is truly an honor to have you return."
Su Qingci’s smile remained warm as he turned his attention toward the two unfamiliar guests.
"And who might these two be?"
Lin Xuan was slightly puzzled by the question.
An intelligence organization not recognising at a glance? What a joke.
He instinctively glanced toward Zhao Moying and Ouyang Jun.
Only then did he notice that the emblems of the Mystic Sky Sect had already disappeared from their robes.
Without those symbols, they looked no different from ordinary cultivators traveling together.
Ouyang Jun calmly stepped forward and cupped his fists.
"My name is Junou Yong."
He then gestured toward Zhao Moying beside him.
"This is my martial sister, Ying Mozhao. We are wandering cultivators."
Su Qingci nodded politely and silently repeated the two names in his mind.
After carefully searching through every piece of information he could remember.
Unfortunately, neither name matched any influential cultivator or notable force he knew.
Unable to recall anything related to them, Su Qingci quietly set the matter aside while maintaining the same courteous smile on his face.
