Chapter 59: 59. Settling debts.
The moment Huang Guangzhou’s body collapsed, the remaining bandits suddenly staggered.
Their bloodshot eyes rapidly returned to normal as the madness within them disappeared.
One after another, they clutched their heads in pain before collapsing onto the ground.
The sudden change left everyone stunned.
Li Hanyuan slowly sheathed his sword before turning toward Lin Xuan.
"What is going on?"
Lin Xuan dispersed his Snake Martial Spirit and the overwhelming pressure released by his Ninth Layer Golden Core cultivation also gradually faded.
He calmly walked across the battlefield while speaking.
"They were most likely fed low-quality Blood Pills refined from other humans. That will also explain also how Huang Guangzhou was able to control them and forced them to walk into their dead."
Li Hanyuan’s expression became thoughtful.
He had heard of blood cultivation before, but this method of controlling hundreds of people at once was something he had never noticed.
Just as he was about to ask another question, Lin Xuan suddenly interrupted him.
"Go help Ouyang. His opponent has a higher cultivation."
Zhao Moying calmly walked over as fresh blood dripped down from the sword in her hand.
Behind her lay the headless corpse of the second Golden Core cultivator.
"He’ll be fine."
Li Hanyuan simply nodded in agreement.
There was not the slightest trace of worry on his face.
Seeing their reactions, Lin Xuan chose not to press the matter any further.
If both senior disciples of the Mystic Sky Sect believed Ouyang Jun could handle his opponent, there was little reason for him to interfere.
Just then, a familiar notification suddenly appeared before his eyes.
———————————————————
[For successfully raising the clan’s prestige by eliminating an infamous blood cultivator, you have been rewarded with a Pill Refining Talent.]
———————————————————
A second message immediately followed.
———————————————————
[Rolling for talent.]
———————————————————
Before Lin Xuan could gather his thoughts, the screen flashed once more.
———————————————————
[Congratulations!]
[You have obtained a Myth Grade Pill Refining Talent!]
———————————————————
Lin Xuan stared blankly at the floating screen.
A Myth Grade...
Wouldn’t something like an absurd level of comprehension have been even better? That would have been amazing, like a jack of all trade!
The thought disappeared almost as quickly as it came.
He was hardly going to complain about receiving a free reward.
Besides...
It was Myth Grade.
From lowest to highest, the known ranks were Mortal, Earth, Legend, Divine, and Myth.
Anything bearing the word "Myth" could not possibly be ordinary.
So... what does it do? Lin Xuan asked inwardly.
The system immediately responded.
———————————————————
[Whenever you see a pill, you will instantly know the recipe and understand everything there is to know about it.]
[Whenever you encounter a medicinal herb, you will instantly understand all of its uses.]
———————————————————
Lin Xuan’s eyes nearly popped out of their sockets.
All of its uses? Everything there is to know about a pill?
Does that mean... with a single glance, I’ll know its ingredients, its recipe, and how it was refined? What kind of ridiculous ability is this?
Before he could recover from the shock, another notification appeared.
———————————————————
[Whenever you refine a pill, there is a one hundred percent chance of producing a Pure Pill, with a chance of producing a Cloud Pill.]
———————————————————
Lin Xuan’s breathing stopped for a moment.
Only now did he truly realize just how terrifying this talent was.
A hundred percent chance of refining a Pure Pill...
That alone was enough to drive countless alchemists into madness.
As for a Cloud Pill...
He did not even dare imagine how valuable such a treasure would be.
Lin Xuan swallowed hard.
His earlier thoughts instantly came back to haunt him.
What was I thinking about asking for better comprehension? To hell with that, I fucking love this talent!
"Patriarch Lin?"
Zhao Moying’s voice gently broke his train of thought.
"Are you alright?"
Lin Xuan immediately snapped out of his daze and gave a small cough before smiling awkwardly.
"Ah... yes. I’m fine."
Fortunately, no one thought much of his brief distraction.
After all, they had just gone through a fierce battle.
Lin Xuan then turned toward the Lin merchants and swept his gaze across their familiar face.
"Is everyone alright?"
Lin Shuhao immediately stepped forward and cupped his fists.
"Reporting to the Patriarch. Aside from a few minor injuries, everyone is safe."
"That’s good."
Just then, hurried footsteps approached from the distance and everyone instinctively turned their heads.
Ouyang Jun walked out from the forest with his sword resting upon one shoulder.
Fresh blood slowly dripped from its blade and in his other hand, he carried a severed head of Su Qingci its hair.
Ouyang Jun casually tossed the head onto the ground before saying.
"He put up quite the fight."
Lin Xuan looked toward Ouyang Jun and gave him an approving nod.
"Good job."
Ouyang Jun merely gave a nod back in response.
Zhao Moying glanced at Su Qingci’s severed head before asking, "What will happen to the Blue Sea Restaurant now?"
Lin Xuan stared at the severed head and replied, "After discovering that one of their branch managers was a blood cultivator, I’m sure they’ll keep a low profile for the time being.
They will probably spend most of their effort investigating how far the corruption has spread."
Zhao Moying nodded gently.
That was indeed the most reasonable course of action.
Just then, Li Hanyuan walked over.
He stopped before Lin Xuan and cupped his fists respectfully.
"Patriarch Lin, I would likely have died today had you not stepped in and took down Huang Guangzhou."
Lin Xuan smiled and returned the gesture.
"Oh no, Young Master Li. You give me far too much credit. I was only able to strike him down because you held him back."
Li Hanyuan slowly shook his head.
"No. If our roles had been reversed, I could not have accomplished what you did."
He paused briefly before continuing.
"Before I return to the sect, I will personally speak with my Patriarch and get him to formally apologize for all the bullying my family has done to the Lin Family."
Lin Xuan blinked in surprise.
"How did you know about that?"
Li Hanyuan smiled politely.
"People tend to talk."
