The Lord Demon King is Unfathomable!
Chapter 1974 - 535: Meanwhile, the Train Departs from the Hero’s Hometown_5
Accompanied by the sound of teeth-gritting metal friction, the enormous steel body slowly slid into everyone's view, then shrouded their eyes in white smoke.
The welcoming party waiting on the platform was in a commotion. Some coughed, some covered their mouths and noses with handkerchiefs, while others cast dissatisfied or suspicious glances.
Gathered here were the remaining prominent figures of Glanston Castle, yet now they were made to look dusty and worn.
Among them were the old nobles and gentry who survived by adapting, and priests holding scriptures trying to calm themselves.
Outside the checkpoint, it was packed with peasants who had never seen the world.
Among them were free farmers, newly liberated peasants, and vendors pondering whether to follow trends and start some business.
Panic spread like plague among the crowd.
Unlike the well-informed Thunder City citizens, those peasants who never left their villages stared in terror.
Seeing the smoke-spewing beast, someone suddenly shouted "Devil," and many went limp, kneeling on the ground right there.
They trembled and prayed to Saint Sis, pleading for Divine protection to fend off the beast's charge... though even without prayer, the "monster" at the station stopped by itself.
Many passengers in the carriage burst into laughter, which was really impolite.
But the gentle and kind-hearted "Miss Eloise" did not laugh... she was so frightened by the "Devil" shout that she dared not move.
She feared doing something out of line, exposing her "Hell Spy" identity.
Yet because she didn't laugh, many gentlemen and ladies, upon regaining their senses, gave her either ashamed or admiring looks.
Such a wonderful person...
No wonder her smile could captivate so many young men and women.
Unfortunately, they don't know that their attention almost scared Miss Kaylee out of her tail.
Luckily, as Luo Yan's junior, she's also a very composed Enchanting Demon, and can hold it in.
When the "Devil" shout reverberated, the intolerant Priest immediately went over to scold the reckless guy.
It's well-known that there's no Devil on the land of Holy Blessing. These blasphemous folks can curse privately, but shouting in front of the Priest is like slapping his face!
The Priests of Glanston Castle are not like those in Thunder City; at least they consider themselves very serious about educating the world.
They intended to prove to Edward with the local simple folk that although their peasants are poor, their Spirit is full and their backbone is hard.
However, the simple locals weren't cooperative; they just turned around and knelt.
Too bad Edward doesn't know what these Priests think, or else he'd surely laugh at their affectionate self-deception.
"For Glory! For Campbell!"
A loud shout came from outside the train station.
A Knight in old-style plate armor roared, wielding a Riding Spear along the tracks, charging at the giant locomotive.
Upon hearing about the monster, he donned his inherited armor without hesitation, and brought two trembling Attendants with him.
Yet the bravery of North Stream Valley Knights didn't pass down on his Riding Spear for long.
When he saw the Campbell family crest engraved on the locomotive, his Riding Spear clattered to the ground, his face turned pale, and cold sweat soaked his clothes.
The two Attendants behind him ran off without a trace, fearing they'd be taken as remnants of the Winter Moon Coup and beheaded by the Thunder City "White-haired Devil."
It must be said, Glanston Castle is not without brave Knights; most of them just ended up in jail with Earl Derek.
Only those who understand the times best or truly humorous people can still perform here.
Laughter came from the carriage again, as Bertrand Peg, accompanying the Duke, silently released his sword's grip and breathed a sigh of relief.
With his Platinum Level strength, slashing such a ridiculous assassin would take less than a second. But if possible, he really hopes the other doesn't give him the chance.
They've shed too much blood already; there's no need to die over a settled matter...
Meanwhile, the soldiers formed into a squad also lowered their Roxey Rifles and returned to a dignified stance.
Compared to the "last Knight's" comical performance on the tracks, the Nobles and gentry in the front row had much more complex expressions.
They looked at the Steel Giant Beast traveling on land, feeling not just awe but a bit of sorrow flown from the chimney.
No need to open the Encyclopedia, they could keenly sense the age of windmills and castles had come to a complete end.
The happy days of setting up private tolls on estate roads and river ports have also vanished along with the whistle...
"Hiss—"
With a long venting sound, the train steadily stopped in front of the newly laid red carpet.
The doors opened, and Duke Edward, dressed for the occasion, and Luo Yan in a black suit, stepped off the train, heading toward the arranged soldiers.
The train platform was silent, with only the unified military salute and Duke Edward's brief and efficient return salute.
