Northern Wilderness, Tower of the Great Sage.

Sir David from Campbell Duchy removed his cloak, chilled by the cold air, handed it to his attendant beside him, and then followed the footsteps of the Magic Apprentice to take the elevator to the top of the Tower of the Great Sage.

It was midsummer, and Campbell Castle was sweltering to the point of making people sweat, but none of this concerned the barren lands of the Extreme North.

Usually, by June, the snow here had just begun to thaw, and soon after a few days of enjoying the gentle spring light, the harsh winter would return.

"Honorable envoy, we've arrived, the Sage Candidate is waiting for you in the office. Moreover, he has a meeting afterwards, so please be concise——"

"Then don't waste my time."

Leaving the babbling Magic Apprentice behind, Sir David adjusted the emblem representing Campbell Duchy on his collar and walked proudly into the office that was spacious to the point of feeling a bit empty.

Sunlight streamed through the giant glass windows, enveloping the man sitting behind the long table in a halo of soft light.

Uriel Acle, Sage Candidate of the Academic State, one of the leading figures of the Holy Power School.

He wore a pristine, unembellished Mage Robe, with his flaxen hair perfectly combed.

His gray-blue eyes, through crystal lenses, gazed at the guest from the south with a compassionate and gentle smile.

"Please sit, Sir David."

Uriel's voice was calm and infectious, more reminiscent of a priest reading gospel on a pulpit than a Mage.

Unfortunately, his "lifelong enemy," Professor Colin, was not here; otherwise, his expression would certainly be more "expressive."

"...It's been a strenuous journey, traveling from the warm Valley Plain to this bitter cold land."

Yet Sir David was in no mood for pleasantries, pulling out a thick stack of documents from his chest pocket and slamming them heavily on the oak desk.

They were solid evidence of Edgar Kaufman colluding with Ratmen to create "Holy Water" and harming lives. Not only did they contain reports from the Thunder City Daily, but there was also evidence not suitable for newspaper publication.

Every page was soaked in the blood and tears of the Ryan people.

"...I represent Campbell Duchy in lodging a formal protest with you. Our Majesty believes the Mage Tower is brewing a nest of Chaos, and now the corruption of Chaos has seeped into our borders."

Uriel's eyes narrowed.

"This is a serious accusation."

Sir David looked at him unwaveringly.

"Then you'd better take a good look because the same materials have been sent to the Holy City."

Holy City.

Uriel's mouth curled slightly. It was rather naive to try to intimidate him with this, as if a child of the Holy City Nobles had been locked in a cave.

No need to flip through these; he could already guess that those who perished were certainly insignificant, otherwise Edward Campbell wouldn't have dispatched an envoy here.

Had even one child of the Holy City Nobles been in that cave, that rustic Duke would already be happily aboard a ship to the Holy City, making connections with the Noble families there.

"...Fine, we never imagined such atrocious demon would appear within the sacred Ivory Tower of the Academic State."

Uriel didn't scrutinize the documents but simply glanced at them, his face showing just the right amount of regret.

"Professor Edgar Kaufman's actions are a stain on knowledge and a violation of life. Please believe, we feel extremely pained and regretful about this."

"Regret?"

Sir David's voice turned cold.

"Is it merely regret? We need an explanation."

"Certainly, justice may be delayed, but it will never be absent, and we remain consistent in this."

Uriel smiled, leaning slightly forward.

"Edgar's Master, the owner of the Tower of Soul School, the honorable Wise Omon has personally taken action to clean house. Edgar has already been taken back to the Soul Tower, undergoing the punishment he deserves."

The atmosphere in the room felt peculiarly heavy.

Sir David's eyebrows arched upwards, his eyes gradually squinting into slits.

"When did you take action?"

"Is that important?"

Uriel asked back, his tone as gentle as inquiring about the luncheon menu.

"Of course it's important."

Sir David suppressed the fury in his chest, speaking in a deep voice.

"According to the Law of the Aus Empire, before arresting a criminal, we at least need to go through trial and conviction first; otherwise, how do we know he's a criminal?"

Skipping the trial might be a pleasing matter, but what he truly wanted to ask was—

When did you all-knowing Mages begin to know this guy was a demon? And what did you do after knowing?

Uriel chuckled lightly, seemingly not hearing the envoy's questioning, that superior laugh filled with disdain for the lower civilization.

"Pardon my frankness, Sir. Your efficiency is too low, which is why you cannot establish a glorious magical civilization, but can only live in the mire... of course, I meant no offense."

He leaned back, his spine sinking into the soft chair back, fingers interlocked over his abdomen.

"In the Mage Tower, Truth doesn't require embellishments of excessive formality, nor does the trial need to be performed for an audience. Since the mistake has occurred, our task is to correct it, with the fastest speed and utmost efficiency..."

The office became Uriel's classroom, that ceaselessly arrogant spiel left Sir David feeling a choking sensation, his fists involuntarily tightening.
