Chapter 2005: Mute Hua Jinyan Appears

"Hurry up and say it!"

Hua Jinyan pressed his lips together.

"Talk! Don’t play mute!"

Hua Jinyan lowered his eyes, his lips pressing even tighter.

"Damn it! Don’t think acting mute means I’ll let you off!"

Little Taotie poked Hua Jinyan’s waist with her chubby fingers.

She poked once, twice, three times.

Hua Jinyan slowly scooted his butt away a bit, pulling some distance between them.

Little Taotie puffed with anger, leaned closer, and kept poking with her finger.

"Are you gonna talk or not? Talk or not?"

Hua Jinyan had no idea how many times he’d been poked by now, and still stayed silent.

Little Taotie finally gave up in a huff, leaning back in a full-on Ge You slouch, totally in "lying flat" mode.

Little Taotie let out a breath. "Hmph! Fine, don’t talk then, I’m done with you!"

The cable car stopped, and Hua Jinyan reached out to take Little Taotie’s hand.

Little Taotie dodged, snorted twice, and walked ahead on her own.

She was treating Hua Jinyan like he was air.

Hua Jinyan sped up to catch up; Little Taotie also sped up to pull away from him.

Hua Jinyan: "..."

Little Taotie snorted and strode off.

Hua Jinyan sighed and went after her.

They finally reached the mountaintop, where there were fewer people.

Little Taotie looked around and noticed an uncle glancing at her and Hua Jinyan every now and then, totally not looking like a good person.

Little Taotie headed toward an almost deserted spot; sure enough, the uncle followed.

Hua Jinyan kept pace with her, clearly also having noticed something off about the uncle.

"Let’s split up." Little Taotie quickened her steps.

Hua Jinyan caught up. "Don’t split up."

"I’m trying to draw the bad guy out. If we stay together, he won’t dare come close."

"No."

Little Taotie got mad. "He’s only following and not doing anything. You go, don’t stick with me."

Hua Jinyan acted like he’d gone deaf.

Little Taotie was already pissed at Hua Jinyan; this time she was even more furious. With a "awoo" she lunged over and clamped her teeth on Hua Jinyan’s neck.

Hua Jinyan: "..."

The neck was already a pretty sensitive spot, and now that she was biting it, Hua Jinyan’s face heated up, like he was about to combust.

The uncle tailing them revealed a creepy smile.

He took out his phone and contacted another partner.

Little Taotie vented her anger and felt a bit better, shot Hua Jinyan a glare, and continued walking toward the emptier, more open area.

Little Taotie glanced toward the uncle’s hiding spot and was now sure this guy was a trafficker.

Hua Jinyan frowned, but had a different opinion.

"Not a trafficker?" Little Taotie asked.

Hua Jinyan: "There were several good chances to make a move earlier, and he didn’t take any of them."

"Maybe he’s waiting to act together with someone else?"

"Let’s keep watching."

They sat in the pavilion at the top of the mountain. Little Taotie sighed, "Didn’t expect there’d be a pavilion up here to rest in."

Hua Jinyan’s gaze was locked on a little hole in the tabletop.

The stone tabletop was a bit uneven, looking like a rushed, defective job, so the few holes in it didn’t really draw much attention.

Little Taotie: "And he still hasn’t made a move?"

This was the perfect spot to act; this place had to be where the most kids went missing.

After waiting a while longer, Little Taotie saw a seven-seater car pull up.

"That’s a pretty big car, not easy to get up Pan Mountain." Little Taotie remarked.

Hua Jinyan caught the envy in her eyes and chuckled. "If you want to go down and climb back up again, that’s always an option."

Little Taotie: "Yeah, no need for that."

Three people got out of the car.

A middle-aged woman and a young couple.

The middle-aged woman walked toward Little Taotie, her face all kindness, looking the picture of gentle benevolence.
