Gu Yixing burst out, furious: "You only know that Spiritual Energy is recovering—do you have any idea that humans are awakening Special Abilities, that animals are mutating, that even plants are turning into killers? You only care about yourselves. You’re clearly Superpower Users, you should be standing up to protect the people in your area!"

"You talk a good game! What about you then? Are you a Superpower User? Why aren’t you going to fight?"

"Yeah, talking is easy, anyone can talk!"

Gu Yixing’s face went pale, his lips pressed tightly together.

He had once been a Superpower User too, but only a few days after his Special Ability awakened, he fell into those people’s hands. In the end his Special Ability was transplanted out of him. If his eldest and second brothers and little sister hadn’t rushed in to save him, he’d probably have been killed to silence him.

Precisely because he’d gone through that, he was taking part in this operation now, saving these Superpower Users again and again.

Qin Xin patted Gu Yixing’s shoulder and said quietly, "What’s done is done."

Cheng Guodong’s eyes swept sharply and darkly over the ones fanning the flames. "You few—we can just stop caring about you. You’re getting off the vehicle right now."

"What do you mean!?"

"You’re kicking us out?"

"We never said we wouldn’t go to the camp!"

"Yeah, we might not be soldiers, might not go to the front lines, but we can still go to the camp, right? Otherwise if those guys come after us again..."

Cheng Guodong looked at him coldly. "Go on, keep talking. You really have the nerve to say that. You don’t want to give anything, you just want to sit in the camp and freeload?"

"I’m a Blue Star People too! I should be protected by the authorities!"

"Exactly, we’re civilians too!"

"The authorities should protect us! Why are they forcing us to lose our Special Abilities? Can’t they pick a win–win option? Let us keep our Special Abilities without sending us, people with zero training, onto the battlefield!"

"We’re just ordinary people. Even if we’ve suddenly awakened Special Abilities, we barely know how to use them. Going to the front is just going there to be cannon fodder!"

These people were dead set on staying in the vehicle.

Qin Xin chuckled. "People like this really aren’t worth saving. Might as well just let them get taken away."

Cheng Guodong glanced at him and shook his head. "We’ve already saved them."

Gu Yixing pressed his lips together, gazing out the window.

The one driving was Chen Zi, who had been silent the whole time. Suddenly, the vehicle stopped.

Chen Zi got out, yanked the door open with a swish. "Who was just yelling their head off? Throw them out for me. Right now."

"Chen Zi, since when did you get such a bad temper...?" Cheng Guodong rubbed his forehead. Chen Zi used to be a wily old fox—how’d he turn into a walking time bomb?

Chen Zi simply reached in and grabbed people. "This one? And this one?"

"Let go of me! I’m not getting off!"

"I’m not getting off either!"

Chen Zi shouted angrily, "You don’t get a say!"

Chen Zi casually flung them out of the vehicle, and in no time at all, he had tossed all those troublemakers onto the road.

"Let us back on!"

"What are you doing!"

Under the terrified stares inside the vehicle, Chen Zi hauled out the person in the tank and chucked them out the door as well,

then climbed back into the driver’s seat, slammed the gas, and sped off.

Cheng Guodong said, "This... might not be appropriate?"

Qin Xin smiled, eyes narrowed. "When we were rescuing them, we accidentally let that guy escape, and a few people just didn’t make it out in time. What’s inappropriate about that?"

Chen Zi let out a short laugh. "Exactly."

The ones left in the vehicle were shivering, scared they’d be thrown out too.

Someone looked out the rear window and saw those people running after them—running and running until they vanished from sight.

"Will they... end up in that guy’s hands and get taken away to have their Special Abilities transplanted?"

"I... I don’t know either."

"What should we do? Those four are not easy to reason with. If we piss them off and they throw all of us out, what then?"

"We better just behave ourselves, yeah?"

Someone spoke up. "I choose to go to the camp and serve."

"Same here."

"Us too!"

Once you have a Special Ability, no one is willing to give it up.

Right now they could only choose to compromise, for the moment.

Once they reached the camp, maybe there would still be room to negotiate.
