Chapter 2105: A Feather of Qing Luan

Little Taotie sensed something wrong. She turned around and her pupils widened in shock.

Hua Jinyan moved even faster; with a flick of his body he flashed in front of Little Taotie, blocking the sneak attack for her as he struck out at the same time.

The one who attacked was Lu Yu, the guy in the cloak who’d picked a fight the moment he arrived.

"You’ve got a death wish!" Hua Jinyan grabbed the other man by the throat.

Little Taotie tried to talk him down: "Leave him alive."

"What the hell is going on?" The big shot from the military turned to look, only to see the young man he’d brought being choked by another young man. Then he saw Little Taotie standing there trying to mediate, and his brain instantly filled in a whole love triangle dog-blood drama. He bellowed, "Do you have any idea what time it is right now, and you’re still here fighting over a girl?"

Little Taotie wanted to explain, but Hua Jinyan shook his head, his gaze dark as it fell on the man. He pulled a Token out of his pocket.

The man saw the Token and gaped in shock, then slowly turned his head back, as if he hadn’t noticed anything out of place here, and focused all his attention on dealing with the vortex.

Hua Jinyan raised his brows slightly.

These old foxes really were seasoned to perfection.

The Token he’d just shown wasn’t the one that marked his status as a General, it was only the General’s personal guard Token. It wasn’t time to expose his identity yet.

Lu Yu shouted, "Let go of me! Help!"

But no one heard him, or maybe everyone here seemed to have gone deaf.

Some people really were pouring their hearts and souls into handling the vortex and simply didn’t bother with anything else; others saw that the big shot who’d brought Lu Yu in wasn’t saying a word, and they didn’t want to meddle either, so they went on pretending to be deaf.

"Who sent you?" Hua Jinyan demanded.

Lu Yu instead gave a strange smile, and his figure suddenly vanished.

Hua Jinyan was left holding only a Cloak, and a single feather fell from the Cloak.

Hua Jinyan picked up the feather, his brows knitting tight.

Little Taotie recognized the feather: "It’s Qing Luan!"

The monsters inside the vortex were beaten back, but the vortex still remained, only now its spinning had slowed down.

For the moment there was no way to resolve it completely, but at least the situation with the monsters invading had eased.

Shen Cang assigned two people to guard the place, and dismissed everyone else.

Shen Cang asked, "What just happened?"

Hua Jinyan’s face was dark. "He launched a sneak attack."

"A sneak attack on you?" Before Hua Jinyan could answer, Shen Cang shook his head to himself. "If he’d attacked you, you wouldn’t be this angry. He must have attacked Little Taotie—that’s the only thing that would really set you off."

Hua Jinyan pressed his lips together.

"Looks like I hit the mark." Shen Cang turned to Little Taotie. "Do you know that guy?"

Little Taotie shook her head. "I don’t know him, but I know this feather."

When Shen Cang heard that the man had turned into a single feather, he just found it absurd. "Could it be some kind of transformation Special Ability?"

Little Taotie pinched the feather. "No sign of life at all."

"Give me the feather. I’ll take it back and study it."

Little Taotie hesitated for a moment, but in the end, out of trust, handed it over to Shen Cang.

Once Shen Cang left and only Little Taotie and Hua Jinyan were still there, Little Taotie asked, "Wasn’t Qing Luan trapped in the Underworld?"

Hua Jinyan’s voice was low. "Maybe we were wrong from the very start. There are two Qing Luan, not one. Back then, the one who impersonated the War God to seduce the Mysterious Lady was a Domain Holder from outside, or rather, that was Qing Luan A. And the one who later followed the Mysterious Lady’s orders and appeared on the Little Island—that should be Qing Luan B."

Little Taotie was a bit lost and gave a wry smile. "Looks like it’s time I paid the Mysterious Lady a visit."

She actually should have gone long ago. She’d planned to go right after Brother Shen and Brother Bin were buried, but then the global Spiritual Energy revival happened and it got delayed until now.

"You can find her through Bai Shuang?" Hua Jinyan asked.

Little Taotie nodded. "Bai Shuang is very familiar with her aura. At this point Bai Shuang is basically... a sniffer dog. She should be able to track her down."
