Selene’s POV

William and I didn’t even sleep in the same bed on the night of our wedding.

That was how rigid things were between us ... and I wasn’t complaining. We were in a contract. That was the deal. So now that I had married him and everyone in Morvaine knew me as his Luna, I could finally get on with my life. Though I was sceptical, because I knew this arrangement wasn’t going to last forever.

"I’m not that kind of person, Selene. I won’t force you ... but when the right time comes, I’m sure there would be nothing holding us back," he said.

Trying to be a responsible wolf and all that. I was impressed, honestly. And happy, because it meant he was going to leave me alone to do what I actually wanted to do.

Which was the business.

We didn’t waste any time on the formalities once we had settled in. The papers were brought out and laid on the table, ready for signatures. Once signed, the product would go live and I would own the full rights ... collecting from its gross earnings from that point forward. That was the whole innovation behind everything.

William had been briefed already. He consented without argument. "Anything for my Luna to be happy," he said.

The papers were brought to him first, for his signature of consent.

He looked at me before he signed. "You would agree that I made this happen," he said, and he was even smiling when he said it.

I felt irritated. He was too proud for my liking. And he had the nerve to claim I was his fated mate. If we ever did the full mate test and it came back true, I would literally regret my entire existence.

After he signed, I signed myself.

The product was officially live.

"The food processor is going to be the breakout invention of the decade ... of the century," the chief manufacturer said.

It was going to be produced in two versions ... a smaller one built to fit into homes, and a larger, heavier industrial version for authorities, big businesses, and farms. I was bringing something real to all of Morvaine.

"You’ll need to do advertising for it," the chief manufacturer said.

"Really? How do I start? I’m ready," I told him.

"That’s no problem at all. The journalist and videographer are already on their way. You just talk about your journey to invention and what the product offers," he said.

That was well noted.

"I’ll be heading out for a meeting now ... I’d like to see how it goes when I’m back, Selene, okay?" William said.

I didn’t even look at him. Just nodded.

Wolf and Luna who were still strangers.

"I want to give you a peck on the cheek for good luck," he said.

My eyes went wide. What the hell was he saying?

"Is that alright?" he asked.

I decided not to make a scene. I let him.

He came over and pecked my cheek. I locked down every reaction, every hormonal response, kept my face completely flat. When he was done, he left the room and I started rehearsing what I was going to say in the video.

Sooner than I expected, the journalist and videographer arrived.

"Hello, Esteemed Luna," the videographer said.

I smiled.

"We should find somewhere with better ambience," he suggested.

We moved immediately.

The lighting he set up was top notch and the atmosphere of the space was genuinely good ... really good. I cross-checked my speech notes and sorted out my appearance. I had help with that, for the record.

"Are we ready?" he asked.

We began.

"Good day, everyone. I am Selene Steelborn, Luna of the Icefang territory, and I bring to you today ... Peace Limited, a product designed to help you process food with ease and multiply your yield. This initiative was created to eliminate hunger across the whole of Morvaine and beyond.

Everything of true value comes at a cost ... but when that cost is appreciated, it delivers you from far greater ones in the future. We have already seen what this product did during the food crisis in Morvaine. The price is listed directly below your screen. Do well to get one for yourself, your family, and your company. Thank you."

"Cut," the videographer said ... and the room erupted.

The video wolf said it would be live within a minute. He ran through the final edits in record time and posted it.

Within two minutes, the views were mind-blowing.

I was still trying to process whether I had done well enough when the journalist shouted, "2K views in under ten minutes ... and 1.6K orders!"

Wow. Those were numbers. Real numbers. I was genuinely excited.

I turned to the chief manufacturer. "Are the delivery teams on the ground?"

"Of course they are, Luna. Why do you think I’m here?"

Thirty minutes later ... 500K views and over 400K orders.

That was peak. That was real success, and it felt incredible to see myself actually making impact.

My husband walked into the room and lifted me clean off my feet.

"Selene, you are one lucky charm, aren’t you?" He was grinning from ear to ear ... and I was thinking, why is he happier than I am about my own success? And even setting that aside ... we were married, sure, but when exactly had we reached the kind of relationship where he could just lift me up like that?

He didn’t hide a single bit of his happiness. He set me down and I gave him a simple thank you. That was all he was getting.

According to the chief manufacturer, they had produced one million copies of the product from the original blueprint. Under half a day ... twelve hours ... we already had over a million orders.

We had to put the rest on a waitlist. The invention had caused a freaking traffic jam across the entire platform.

I was so glad I had listened when the chief manufacturer told me to take it live.

Down in the comment sections, a trend had taken off and spread across all of Morvaine like wildfire.

"Luna Selene is the best and every other Luna is a counterfeit."

It was everywhere. My pictures. My name. Trending across the whole territory. The journalist looked at me with a grin and said, "It’s just starting. You haven’t seen anything yet."
