The Mage's 5 Fated Alphas (BL)
Chapter 171: Bewitching bitch!
"What are you talking about? Why would I be? Lyra, stop saying vague things."
Lyra’s face stiffened at once.
"Nox! You can’t blame me for what happened at the ceremony. You weren’t able to awaken your wolf and left. What could I do if the Goddess found me another mate?"
Nox froze in place.
There she went again.
How had he never realized Lyra could be this troublesome?
He gritted his teeth and said each word clearly,
"Lyra, shut up and never mention the past again. We never had any kind of relationship."
"NOX!" Lyra’s voice trembled slightly.
Then her gaze fell on the man sitting beside Nox.
She instantly became stupefied. A flicker of jealousy slipped across her expression.
’So beautiful!’
That was her first thought.
’Bewitching bitch!’
That was her second thought.
’He must have put some illusion on every man here.’
That was her last thought before she recovered from the shock.
And then she comforted herself,
’A man with this appearance is never a good man. They called him Black Witch for a reason!’
Lyra’s eyes lingered on him for a little longer, then shifted to Levi.
Her expression changed slightly.
’So this was why he had allowed this man to sit in his personal carriage?’
She had heard all kinds of rumors about merchants.
Some liked collecting rare treasures, some liked beautiful people, and others were willing to spend a fortune to obtain things that ordinary people could never buy.
Levi must be one of those strange men. Perhaps he had some unusual preferences too.
Lyra pressed her lips together.
She could not say anything directly in front of so many people.
But if Levi was being deceived by someone who had no status or proper backing, she should at least warn him.
After all, she was only trying to help.
So, she turned to Levi with a sweet, careful smile.
"Young Master Levi, Elysian Crown has no shortage of people. Why do you want to add a witch who is not even a proper witch? Aren’t you afraid your Alpha will be angry when he finds out you are bringing so much trouble to the Elysian merchant guild?"
Her gaze lingered on Moon’s face for a while. Then she said again,
"You are managing so many things. You should be aware of all the means a witch can pull. Don’t you?"
Levi laughed amusedly, "Lady Lyra is very kind to remind me."
Lyra looked pleased. She nodded, then turned back to Nox with her most gentle smile.
"Nox," she said in a soft voice, "I’m really glad to see you safe. After what happened at the Vaelis city square... many people said the defective brothers had disappeared for good. Some even said you all became food for scavengers or worse."
Axe snorted from the side.
"Lyra, just say what you want. No need to make it worse."
She glanced at him with hurt eyes.
"Axe, have you been well? Let’s talk on the way."
As she spoke, she prepared to step into the carriage. But a guard immediately interrupted her.
"Who said you can travel in this carriage?" he said rudely.
Lyra looked at Levi with a questioning gaze, but Levi remained silent, showing no interest in letting her in.
Her doe eye lingered on Levi for a moment, then she looked back at Nox.
"It seems you found a temporary place to stay. That’s good. At least you are not starving on the streets."
Her voice became lower.
"The Alpha of Vaelis is not that heartless. If you go back and admit your fault, he will still take you in. The pack can still use young wolves... even the ones who don’t have wolf spirit."
She didn’t say the word "defective", but the meaning was clear.
Evan finally opened his mouth impatiently, voice cold and full of disdain.
"She’s right. Defectives who can’t even awaken their wolves have no place in Monalis. If they still have some face left, they should go back to Vaelis and beg. The Alpha might still give them a chance..."
He pointed his chin at Moon.
"And just hand him over to the Palace of Fortune. Who knows what his origin is?"
Lyra quickly added,
"Yes. The west is full of important people right now. Let’s not embarrass yourselves going there. It’s not a place for those who have already been discarded by their own pack. Better to return early and clean your names. You can live well inside the pack rather than haggling around stalls and doing chores in a guild."
She looked at Nox pleadingly.
"Nox! For the sake of our previous affection, don’t ruin yourself like this. Go back to the pack. I am really worried about you."
"Are you finished?" Nox finally uttered.
Looking at Lyra’s face, he became irritated.
"Stop blubbering and just mind your own business. I don’t want to hear any more words."
Saying that, he looked at Levi, who was clearly enjoying the drama, and gestured for him to start the carriage.
"What? Nox, you are all being delusional! What did that witch even feed you?" Lyra said hurriedly.
She tilted her chin toward Moon without looking at him.
"A witch like that only brings misfortune. Everyone in the eastern territory already knows the name Black Witch. You don’t even know where he is taking you."
Ugo finally sat up straight and said coldly,
"Lyra, we are not some small children. We can make our own decisions. Even if you were once our ally and friend, you can’t randomly accuse our mate."
"See? You already see him as a mate. Is it even possible for a witch to become a mate with five? How did you become so dull after being with him for a while? Ugo, wake up. No one has ever heard of a situation like this. And you..." She paused.
Her eyes fluttered, and she uttered slowly, "You all are defective. Defectives don’t have any fated bond. Just wake up, Ugo."
"How much did Alpha Vaelis offer you?" A soft yet steady voice suddenly spoke up.
Moon looked at Lyra, leaning back in his seat.
The moment his words fell, everyone became silent at once.
Lyra and Evan both felt their faces burning as all the eyes around fell on them.
Evan growled,
"Don’t talk nonsense. Lyra was just trying to help them. They are childhood friends."
Moon raised his brows.
"And you? Who are you to talk?"
Evan felt momentarily speechless. Yet, looking at that face and hearing the soft voice, his cheek flushed slightly.
"I am Evan Vesper."
His words came out very softly before he even realized it.
Lyra’s eyes widened. Why was this Vesper suddenly introducing himself so obediently? Her stomach dropped.
She looked at Moon coldly.
"Don’t put any weird charm on men. Don’t you have any shame?"
Her voice became sharper without her even realizing she was losing it.
"Oh? What charm? Do you mean this?"
Saying this, Moon slowly raised his finger and swirled it in the air, drawing a floral pattern. Blue, green, and golden lines formed round after round, glowing faintly.
Seeing such a mesmerizing sight, Evan’s eyes became rounder and his gaze fixed on Moon’s finger.
Even the muscular man on the side craned his head to look inside the carriage.
In the dim light, the glow was particularly shimmering. Just when everyone thought Moon was about to show some alluring magic, the pattern suddenly shattered.
