Chapter 206: Don’t feel him (Rio’s contract)(Bonus Chapter)

"Master, I want to form a soul contract with Rio."

Lupine sat on a rock before him and shook his head helplessly.

"You could have called Bane directly. What are you afraid of? His cold face?" He started laughing.

"He is... kind of distant. It’s awkward." As soon as Moon finished speaking, the air shifted.

Frostbane appeared with Rio, followed by Xiao Hong.

"Ayia... Look at this kid! He has already forgotten us old folks!" Xiao Hong tittered

Moon smiled awkwardly.

"It’s not been long... We met yesterday, didn’t we? Um, or was it the day before yesterday?" he mumbled.

"Okay, okay... I was just joking. No need to feel shy. So you finally remembered this poor fellow? I thought you didn’t want to contract him."

She rubbed Rio’s white fur with deep affection.

"I didn’t have time," Moon said as he took out the scroll.

Remembering how Leo had protested the contract, he closed the distance and approached Rio.

First, he rubbed the wolf’s head and snow-white fur.

Rio looked up at the man who had suddenly come over and started rubbing his head.

Even without being able to say a word, his eyes perfectly displayed his thoughts.

’What is this?’

Moon lifted his hand awkwardly.

But then the wolf slightly raised his head.

It was a very subtle movement, but Moon noticed it.

’Does he want me to touch him or not?’

Moon frowned and stroked his fur again.

This time, the wolf didn’t glare at him. He simply sat there with his eyes closed.

Moon looked at the wolf with a confused look.

"I don’t think he’ll demand much. He’s very sensible," Xiao Hong said.

’Sensible my ass!’ Moon cursed inwardly, though he didn’t say it aloud.

He took out a calming pill, though he thought Rio was already so calm that he couldn’t possibly become any calmer.

Still, it was better to be cautious, especially when he had never understood what this man was thinking.

He pushed the pill into the wolf’s mouth without any trouble.

Who could imagine that this cold and calm wolf could be so destructive when it came to mating?

Moon shook his head to clear his thoughts and focused on the contract.

He opened the scroll and let it float in the air.

Just as he was about to draw his heart’s blood, the Moon Goddess suddenly spoke in his mind.

[Block your heart first.]

’What? How am I supposed to seal the contract then?’ Moon was surprised.

[You are forming a soul contract. You can still choose not to feel his emotions.]

Moon was even more surprised, yet a faint curiosity rose in his mind.

’Why?’

[My child!] she sighed.

[Trust me. You don’t want to feel his emotions. Not today. You won’t be able to concoct any pills.]

Moon remembered the extreme sadness he felt whenever he got close to Rio and suddenly understood what she meant.

If his heart was in such a bad state, there was no way he could refine a complicated pill like the transformation pill.

Not to mention, it was a completely new formula for him.

He listened to the Moon Goddess and blocked his senses.

When he sent his blood to the scroll, he remained on guard, careful not to see any of Rio’s memories.

The scroll glowed with silver light.

Fine, icy inscriptions suddenly appeared across its surface, glowing with a silvery radiance.

Moon caught his breath without even realizing it.

His body tensed.

He had expected some resistance, but the scroll rolled smoothly until it reached the edge.

Just when he thought it was sealing, it stopped.

Rio looked at Moon.

And Moon looked into the wolf’s eyes.

Just then, a cool air passed by him and his heart suddenly felt as cold as a block of ice.

His entire body froze, and he felt a familiar sadness welling up inside him.

Despite his precautions, he couldn’t shut out the feelings.

Seeing him standing like a statue, Frostbane frowned.

But before he could move, Rio suddenly stood up and gently rubbed Moon’s cheek.

The soft fur caressed his skin, and the sudden coldness receded slowly.

Then he leaped high into the air and disappeared into the distance.

Moon was dumbfounded.

’What just happened?’

He thought the seal had failed.

But then a thin connection formed inside his soul, and the scroll scattered into the air, leaving a trail of silver light in the direction Rio had run.

Moon stared at the empty space.

’What? What was that? Did he have human senses? Did he realize I blocked my heart?’

He felt extremely guilty for some reason.

It was as if he had five bastard sons and had forgiven all of them, leaving one behind.

But he couldn’t admit this.

And he certainly had no attachment to any of them.

At least, that’s what he thought.

Moon slowly returned to his platform, still trying to figure out what had happened.

Frostbane looked at his dazed figure and came closer.

"It’s the ice marrow."

"What?" Moon lifted his head.

"He has ice marrow in his heart. It’s blocked and has no feelings. Don’t worry," Frostbane said.

’Don’t worry?’

How could he not worry?

And Rio clearly had feelings.

Sad ones, at that.

Moon’s thoughts went wild.

Bane didn’t explain any more.

"You can call me directly if you need anything," he said before leaving.

Moon watched him go, still feeling confused.

[Sigh! Ah, my Mooney! My child! I told you not to feel him.]

’I—I clearly blocked my heart,’ Moon mumbled, even in his thoughts.

[Did you? Why did you look into his eyes?] she asked.

’I—I... I was just...’

Moon didn’t finish.

He couldn’t.

He felt guilty.

Not because he thought he had wronged Rio, but because, despite everything, he had secretly hoped Rio would look at him and perhaps explain why he hadn’t kissed him.

He wanted to see a little affection in those eyes.

It was such a small expectation, yet he had still held on to it.
