Chapter 230: We Built a New Mansion (6)

  • Next Chapter

The incident revealed its prelude when Young Lady Rosalyn Yuba occupied the room next to Eve's. Until then, Eve had not realized how much of an adverse effect the noise from the next room would have on her deep sleep. This was because it had been very quiet for the first two days after Young Lady Rosalyn Yuba began living in the mansion. Rather, Robin seemed to avoid visiting the mansion, saying he might neglect his duties because he was dating Yuba.

Eve, well aware of the boredom and tedium of someone waiting, even encouraged him to visit her more actively when he was off duty.

Eve had recently been suffering from severe work stress. She tore at her hair to the point that people worried she might go bald soon, and her face grew increasingly haggard, taking on a look of death. Her originally pale skin became even paler, turning into a corpse-like complexion, and Sieri, who worked alongside her, nodded off in the corner of the room whenever it was not working hours.

It was because the village chief originally in charge of the territory had not touched anything for three months, resulting in a whopping three months' worth of grievances pouring in all at once. Eve suffered a headache sorting out the grievances that could be resolved right away and handling the personnel allocation and budget calculation for them. She had to reorganize the troops, relocate the outposts in the guard zone, and newly revamp the duty structure.

Furthermore, since the knight order led by the former lord had faced total destruction, she had to either replenish the knights or change their locations. The sun would quickly set as she pondered over these issues, and Eve had to fall asleep early for her duties the next day.

The knight order was also busy. However, they were only relatively busy compared to their past daily routine and were still full of leisure. The knight order's main duties were territory patrols and training, but the patrols were still conducted by forming groups about once every two days, and the training intensity remained unchanged.

Was it impossible to suppress Robin's boiling sexual desire in this situation? One night, Eve opened her eyes after hearing the sounds of a rendezvous taking place in the room right next to hers.

"Aah, I am sorry. Young Lady Yuba. I cannot hold it back any longer...!"

"Aaht... You are so passionate, to want me like this. I love it so much."

"Hoo, Young Lady Yuba..."

"Aheuk..."

"Crazy bitches."

Eve had to toss and turn that night due to the moans. She didn't realize it when she was having sex herself, but listening to the sounds of others doing it was an unparalleled nuisance. The next morning, Young Lady Rosalyn Yuba was smiling radiantly with a very satisfied face. Eve treated her with a smiling face so as not to pass on any embarrassment.

In the morning, she assigned new patrol routes to the knights. Eve furrowed her brows upon realizing that Robin was missing from the knights gathered that morning.

"Where is Commander Robin?"

"He is on leave today."

"Fucking bastard."

She figured there was a reason they were having such passionate sex yesterday. With a scowl, Eve grouped the knights and organized them. After that, she had to go to the upper floor and handle grievances again. Since the essential grievances had been classified, it was now time to allocate the budget calculated for these grievances. Once Sieri and Aira clung to the bookkeeping with their calculators, Eve would look at the calculated budget and decide whether to proceed.

If it was determined that too much budget had been allocated here, Sieri and Aira would start calculating again. Thus began Eve's hellish daily routine. At lunch, she handled grievances while weighing the remaining budget against the projects that needed to proceed currently, and in the morning, she listened to the knights' patrol reports. In the evening, she received the night report from the soldiers and the bandit search situation, and she went to bed when night fell.

"Aaht, Lord Robin! Aaht...! Ahh!"

"My flower pig. It feels like a dream to hold you."

"Aheuk! Heuk! Aang! Aang! Aaaang!"

"Uwooo! Uwooooh! Uwooooh! Uwaaaah!"

"Aaaang! It's good! It's so goooood! More! More! Call my name! Aaaang!"

"Yuba! Yuba! Yuba! Kkwaaaaak!!"

"You fucking bitches!"

In fact, she hadn't been able to fall asleep recently. This was because Robin and Rosalyn Yuba's passionate sex continued every night. It was only after Eve, unable to endure it any longer, struck the wall and screamed that the two quieted down.

And so, the hellish life of tossing and turning at night and suffering through duties during the day continued.

"Fuck."

All work ground to a halt at the short scream let out by Eve, who was clutching her head in the office. Aira, who had been looking at documents, raised her head with an equally haggard face. Eve looked at Sieri. Sieri was also staring into her documents with a pale face. Her fingertips, which were tapping the abacus, were trembling violently. Looking at her hands, Eve spoke as if finding it pitiful.

"Go take a rest, Sieri."

"Pardon? Ah, I am still fine."

"I am going to rest too. So just go rest."

After saying that, Eve kicked away from her seat and stood up. She patted Aira's shoulder and spoke.

"You get some rest too. Fuck, what kind of unexpected, fucking hardship is this? Because of those motherless, no, fatherless bastards."

Eve was harboring a bit of hatred for the territory residents of the Delmon Territory. Sieri and Aira both smiled awkwardly at Eve's grumbling. This was because they too were unable to keep their wits about them due to the constant grievances. As soon as Eve opened the door and left, Aira leaned against the desk and sprawled out.

"It is too hard these days..."

"You are right, Aira. I am tired."

"Are you going to rest in your room? Or will you do a little more before you go?"

"You go and rest first, Aira. I will work a little more before..."

Aira smiled and sprang up from her seat. Startled by Aira's unexpected behavior, Sieri stopped writing her document and pushed her chair back.

"A-Aira?"

"You know Lady Eve's personality, so why are you acting like this? Hmm? Come on, let's go up and rest. Together. Got it?"

"N-No. I-I have to work..."

Aira held onto Sieri, who was trying to work even if forcibly, and dragged her out. The servants all stopped what they were doing to watch the strange sight of the lord's wife being dragged away. Sieri tapped Aira's arm and spoke.

"L-Let me go. It is embarrassing!"

"You are taking a break from work, right?"

"A-All right, so please let me go!"

Aira only let go of her arm after hearing Sieri's promise. With her face flushed red, Sieri entered her room and threw herself onto the bed. She had worked more than usual today, but it was still not enough. Sieri massaged her arms and thought. She wanted to be of even more help to Lucius. With Eve running around and Aira working hard, she felt like she was the only one falling behind.

She wanted to be someone he could rely on when busy, but her surroundings were so competent that she could not shine. Sieri buried her face in her pillow and thought. She wished she could become someone a little more incredible than she was now. So that she could receive praise from Lucius.

A cozy sensation washed over her face buried in the pillow. Fatigue rushed in rapidly, and she succumbed to sleep. Sieri closed her eyes tightly and began to reminisce about the past. Fragmented memories began to surface in her mind.

The stories of her time as an Archdeity Church trainee. The memories of being close friends with Lucius. The Archdeity Church scripture that she had learned to the point of reciting it by heart there.

"How did you end up joining early?"

Sieri suddenly recalled Eve's question. After recalling that question, Sieri clutched her head once again and started to think about it. However, she could not remember. How did she end up joining early? How did she become close to Lucius and become his childhood friend? How? How on earth did that happen?

Even with Sieri agonizing over it, no answer came. After pondering for a long time, she eventually buried her head in the pillow and tried to go back to sleep. As soon as she closed her eyes, sleep poured over her.

Meanwhile, Aira also returned to her room and sought sleep. Considering that she would have to start working again in a little while, she had to get some sleep in advance now. Because if she didn't sleep now, she didn't know what time she would be able to get off work.

"This is fucking awful, seriously."

Eve was currently standing in a corner of the mansion. A location where the servants could not see her. In this secluded spot opposite the knights' quarters, Eve was sitting on the ground, grumbling. Her complaint was that this was just too much, no matter how one looked at it. The moment Lucius disappeared, busy affairs swept through the territory as if they had been waiting.

Even if she tried to resolve this quickly, there were budgets tied up that she couldn't even touch because deciding on the territory's important matters had to be done by Lucius. People were dying of exhaustion trying to squeeze as much out of the available budget as possible to solve things. When she tried to rest, the situation in the next room was Young Lady Rosalyn Yuba and Robin having sex almost every single day, so Eve felt like she was going to lose her mind.

"Husband, when are you coming... I am having a hard time."

Eve muttered while rubbing her unconsciously tearing eyes. On the verge of tears, she thought to herself. She wished Lucius would appear right here, right now. She wished he would suddenly appear and hold her tightly. A few servants were running nearby. Startled, Eve wiped her tears and turned her head.

Fortunately, the servants quickly disappeared, perhaps having not seen her. Eve let out a sigh of relief and stood up from her spot again. She had to take a short break and then go back to work.

Crackle!

"Huh?"

The sound of sparks flying rang out. Surprised, Eve turned her head. Her vision blurred, and the space curved into a spherical shape. The space warped, and the silhouette of a carriage appeared. Eve froze in place, quietly watching the events unfolding before her eyes. She still hadn't grasped the situation.

Cracks formed along the perfectly bent curve, and as the space shattered, the familiar shape of a carriage could be seen. And from inside that carriage, Lucius's face was revealed. He, too, was looking at his surroundings with a somewhat haggard face. Eve felt something welling up, surging from inside her heart. She ran unconsciously and hugged Lucius tightly, speaking.

"Husband...!"
