The Martial Doctor
Chapter 570 - 465: Teacher Guan’s Injury
"Guan Master, you’ve had a hard journey. Please stay at my residence for now. As for the matter of the memorial, once you’ve written it, I’ll arrange for someone to send it to the capital immediately!"
Since Lin Miao had promised, he would naturally fulfill it.
He also wanted to test the character of the Crown Prince. He never intended to assist the Crown Prince to become a founding hero, but if he were a "weak" and "indiscriminate" prince, Lin Miao would keep his distance in the future.
If he truly wanted to change something, he still had a card up his sleeve.
This card was something he would never use unless absolutely necessary. He was clear about what could and couldn’t be done.
"Thank you," Guan Biyun expressed her gratitude.
"Lianxin, take the master to bathe and change clothes, then have Yuzhu prepare a few dishes, make them light," Lin Miao instructed.
"Alright, young master," Lianxin nodded.
Guan Biyun stood up, taking a step forward, but suddenly felt a sharp, tearing pain in her lower body. She almost fell from the pain, losing her balance.
"Guan Master?" Lin Miao quickly reached out to support her.
Guan Biyun waved her hand toward Lin Miao with a sorrowful expression, "It’s nothing, it’s just some bruising from rushing the journey."
"Lianxin, remember to fetch some medicine for the master," Lin Miao said without suspicion. Guan Biyun, being a doctor herself, knew her injuries best.
...
Lianxin helped Guan Biyun away, and Lin Miao’s heart was filled with mixed emotions.
Although Guan Master’s misfortune wasn’t directly related to him, it was somewhat connected. If Lien Yurou hadn’t met him, she might not have thought of escaping the marriage, but then marrying that perverted King Qi would have ruined her life.
Do two women always mean one must be ruined?
If given a choice, he would definitely not want any harm to come to either. Guan Master had been a mentor and friend to him, offering selfless help and care over the past year.
For her to suffer such calamity, this matter couldn’t just be let go. In Lin Miao’s eyes, princes and kings were worth nothing.
Originally, he intended to visit the capital just to experience the world’s top medical skills and gain a reputation, but now it seemed there was something more to do.
...
"Mistress, may I have a word with you?"
"Lianxin, what is it so late at night?" Sun Youwei was surprised as she was preparing to rest, with Lianxin suddenly knocking on the door to call for her.
There were no other women in the house; at night it was always Lianxin or Liansuo keeping her company. She didn’t know that as long as Lin Miao was willing, the nights could be shared by all three under one quilt.
The two sisters had gotten used to it.
"Guan Master has returned with some injuries that she can’t handle herself, and I can’t deal with it either," Liansuo said with a graceful bow.
"Oh, what kind of injury?" Sun Youwei was slightly surprised.
"It’s..." Lianxin whispered into Sun Youwei’s ear.
"Take my medical kit and follow me," Sun Youwei’s expression changed, and she immediately nodded and gave an order.
"Okay."
...
In Guan Biyun’s room.
Lying on the bed, Guan Biyun’s face was pallid, with strands of silver hair at her temples, evoking compassion.
She was only in her early forties, how could she have gray hair so soon? This wasn’t even caused by humiliation yet.
"Guan Master, how did it come to this?" Sun Youwei gasped, covering her mouth upon seeing the wound on Guan Master’s lower body.
"It’s all that beast King Qi; he’s nothing but a pervert!" Lianxin answered for Guan Biyun. After all, some things were better left unsaid by the victim, to avoid pouring salt on the wound.
"Lianxin, assist me." This was the first time Sun Youwei dealt with such a wound, yet she unhesitatingly gave her orders.
"Guan Master, bear with it, it might be very painful..."
"It’s alright, I’m a doctor myself, I understand," Guan Biyun gritted her teeth.
Sun Youwei nodded, "Guan Master, I’ll use acupuncture to block the pain nerves around you first. This should ease your suffering somewhat. This is my first time performing acupuncture, though my junior brother would be much better at it. But I suppose you wouldn’t want him to perform acupuncture on you, would you?"
Guan Biyun nodded. If Lin Miao saw her like this, she would die of shame, even though she was no longer considered pure.
"Youwei, I trust you, go ahead."
Sun Youwei took out a silver needle, her fingers trembling slightly, since she rarely had the opportunity to practice acupuncture independently. Practicing on someone she cared about made her naturally nervous.
She was most skilled at acupuncture because Lin Miao’s hands-on teaching had removed any barriers or concerns between them. Xia Zhu, being a female disciple, had positions that Lin Miao could only let her understand herself.
However, in terms of practical experience, Xia Zhu was much more seasoned, given she had more opportunities to assist in house calls and emergencies.
She would have more chances in the future, as she could remain by Lin Miao’s side, while Xia Zhu would eventually graduate and couldn’t stay by Lin Miao’s side forever.
After a few needles, Guan Biyun truly felt no more pain in her lower body. But of course, this was only temporary; blocking pain nerves like this couldn’t be sustained, otherwise, there would be no sensation at all.
"Knife!"
"Scissors!"
"Small curved forceps!"
Treating such a wound was almost like a small operation. Sun Youwei had never had the opportunity to perform surgery independently, but now, being forced into it, she had no choice. She couldn’t possibly ask Lin Miao to handle it, right?
