The Martial Doctor
Chapter 714: Visitors from the Dao-seeking Sect
“Sir, there’s someone at the door who claims his surname is Gu and wants to see our Youwei?” Liansuo entered, holding a cup of perilla drink.
She reported along the way.
“The Gu Family, people from the Sect of Inquiry?”
“Probably, should I inform Youwei?”
“What is senior sister doing?”
“The lady is in the backyard planting flowers. Mr. Su sent lots of flower seeds from Jinling, and the lady wants to try planting them in our back garden.” Lianxin said.
“Let’s go take a look.”
In the backyard, Sun Youwei was holding a hoe, squatting on the ground, while Ling Yu’Er and several maidservants helped loosen the soil.
Completely focused, they hadn’t noticed Lin Miao and Lianxin standing behind them.
Seeing sweat on Sun Youwei’s forehead and nose tip, Lin Miao took out an embroidered handkerchief from his pocket, bent down, and gently wiped her forehead and nose.
“Junior brother, you’re here?” Sun Youwei looked up, her smile radiant like a blooming peony.
“Yes, seeing how dedicated you were in tilling, I didn’t want to disturb you.” Lin Miao smiled slightly, reached out to embrace Sun Youwei’s waist, and pulled her up.
“You’re not in the study; is there something the matter?”
“Yes, there is.” Lin Miao nodded, walking out with Sun Youwei, “Someone from the Gu Family has come, presumably for you.”
Sun Youwei smiled and said, “I have no relation whatsoever with the Gu Family; why would they come looking for me?”
“After all, mistress once had a marriage arrangement with the Gu Family. Since they can’t trouble master, they won’t easily let you go.” Lin Miao said.
“Junior brother, what do you think I should do?” Sun Youwei asked, blinking with slightly parted lips.
“Senior sister, if you want to meet them, then meet them; if you don’t, then don’t. Don’t make it difficult.” Lin Miao smiled faintly, “No matter what the Gu Family does, your junior brother is here to back you up.”
“Then let’s meet them and make things clear.” Sun Youwei said, as she naturally doesn’t want any relations with the Gu Family.
The problem is, if you don’t meet them, the Gu Family’s vengeful nature might not let you go easily.
Being entangled with such people is indeed troublesome.
“Wear this?” Lin Miao handed Sun Youwei a face-covering accessory.
Sun Youwei blinked suspiciously.
“Senior sister is too beautiful; all those from the Gu Family are lustful, better to avoid unnecessary trouble.” Lin Miao explained.
Beauty brings trouble.
When Sun Youwei was ill before, she attracted much attention; now, she’s matured into an even more breathtaking beauty.
If she wasn’t already betrothed to him, there would be untold numbers wanting her.
She herself doesn’t realize the extent of her allure; if not well protected, who knows how many would covet her.
Of course, anyone daring to touch Sun Youwei wouldn’t get a second chance from Lin Miao.
Rumors about the Gu Family’s people from the Sect of Inquiry, he had to be cautious, and this one’s not even Gu Yingchun himself, but a descendant or nephew.
Sun Youwei nodded: “Junior brother, help me put it on.”
“Alright.” Lin Miao approached and helped Sun Youwei put it on, “Later, when you see them, just say you caught a slight draft.”
“Understood, aren’t you joining me?”
“Okay.” Lin Miao nodded, since his senior sister invited him along, how could he refuse?
The Lin Mansion’s living room.
Gu Feng was already impatient, a dignified True Disciple of Tianquan Peak of the Sect of Inquiry, to be kept waiting by a mere sixth-grade physician for nearly half an hour.
Though he’d been kept waiting, the tea-serving maid was of exceptional beauty, no less than those newly recruited in the sect.
He’d find a chance to take her away, and have her properly disciplined back home.
He just wanted a maid, surely this minor sixth-grade physician wouldn’t dare refuse him?
Lin Miao intentionally lagged a half-step behind, letting Sun Youwei walk ahead and enter the living room first, her steps light, emitting a crisp sound.
Gu Feng turned his head.
In his life, he’d never seen such a stunning figure; despite the fine silver veil covering her face, obscuring her appearance, her elegant posture and proportional figure seemed to be straight out of a painting.
“Youwei greets Mr. Gu!” Sun Youwei nodded slightly.
“Youwei, no need for formalities.” Gu Feng, captivated, stared at Sun Youwei, his hands involuntarily reaching forward to assist.
Sun Youwei’s eyes flashed with displeasure, she sidestepped gracefully, dodging him.
“Youwei…” Gu Feng didn’t even regard Lin Miao, who came in with her, and step forward to follow her.
“Mr. Gu, please watch yourself!” Sun Youwei, no longer courteous, said directly. She could originally excuse it as a momentary lapse, but now it’s excessive.
Still with temper, Gu Feng’s eyes flickered with a strong desire.
“Ms. Youwei, I’ve fallen in love at first sight, could you give me a chance? I hail from Tianquan Peak of the Sect of Inquiry, one of eighteen True Disciples. If you agree, I’ll immediately propose to your mother, Mr. Hua…”
“Outrageous, Mr. Gu, I am already engaged, how could you suggest breaking vows and taking another husband? If you continue to speak nonsense, please leave!” Sun Youwei turned pale with anger, how could a supposedly noble sect produce such frivolous and rash disciples!
“Engaged, Ms. Youwei’s mother is a sect elder, how could a mere mundane physician be worthy?” Gu Feng scoffed arrogantly.
“If I’m unworthy, is Mr. Gu worthy then?” Lin Miao had long known the arrogance and martial prowess of the major sect disciples, they acted as if this world was theirs to plunder.
“You must be that sixth-grade physician?” Mr. Gu threatened flatly, “I advise you to be sensible, Ms. Youwei will eventually join the Sect of Inquiry, she’s not from your world. If you let her go while you can, you might still enjoy wealth, but if you insist, don’t blame me for being ruthless!”
“Blatant! Even if your sect leader were here, he wouldn’t dare speak like this to me, yet you’re barking heedlessly!” Lin Miao was furious, he’d intended to hear out Gu Feng’s intentions, but turned out it was from this a fatuous person.
No wonder Situ Wan repeatedly warned him to be wary of the Gu Family.
Turns out it’s this kind of arrogant and useless person.
“How dare you insult my sect leader!” Gu Feng exploded in anger, raising his hand to strike at Lin Miao, exposing his Meridian Passage Realm lower-grade cultivation.
Roll!
Lin Miao kicked him, directly kicking him out from the living room and over the gate, landing on the stone-paved ground outside.
Splat!
Gu Feng spat out a mouthful of blood; despite his lower-grade Meridian Passage Realm cultivation, he was kicked out.
Also, surely broke at least three ribs.
Such terrifying skill, perhaps even some potent elders of the sect (below Heavenly Principle) wouldn’t compare.
How could a mere mundane physician be so formidable?
Gu Feng clambered to his feet, wiped the blood from his lips, and hurried off; he needed to report this quickly to the sect.
