Chapter 267: An Unparalleled Romance

Chen Shihu hesitated for a moment before following her. He cupped his fist and said, “I am Chen Shihu. Thank you for your help just now, miss.”

He saw that the young woman’s cultivation was profound and her methods decisive. Since she had also saved several of his generals, he couldn’t help but want to befriend her.

“You don’t need to thank me.”

Bai Chuchu said, “I was only saving my husband. I had no intention of helping you.”

“Er…”

Chen Shihu was left speechless. He thought to himself, ‘How can this girl be so blunt? She just killed the conversation.’

Chen Shihu had to change the subject. “So, you’re already married. No wonder you’re dressed this way. Where is your husband? Do you need my help?”

Bai Chuchu replied, “It was too dangerous just now, so my husband left first.”

Chen Shihu frowned to himself.

‘He knew it was dangerous, yet he ran off by himself and left his own wife here?’

‘Judging by the woman’s attire, they must have just gotten married recently.’

‘How could that man do such a thing?’

Seeing Bai Chuchu’s pale face and pitiable appearance, Chen Shihu assumed she was heartbroken over being betrayed. He tried to console her, “It’s good that he left. Now you can see his true colors.”

Bai Chuchu shot Chen Shihu a look. “What nonsense are you talking about?”

Chen Shihu froze.

‘Did I get it wrong?’

But Bai Chuchu didn’t explain, simply continuing forward on her own.

Chen Shihu had lived for several hundred years and had met countless women. Some were peerlessly elegant, some outshone all others of their generation, some looked down upon the world with disdain, and some were breathtakingly talented. They were all different, with a wide variety of personalities.

But he had never met anyone like Bai Chuchu before, and he couldn’t help but feel a little curious.

“There is something I don’t understand.”

Chen Shihu changed the subject again. “A moment ago, why were you so determined to rip the head off that Combat Corpse with brute force, even at the cost of being severely injured?”

“Who said I wanted to rip the head off that corpse?”

Bai Chuchu frowned. “That suit of black Battle Armor is a treasure. I just wanted to strip it off and give it to my husband.

“Unfortunately, you sliced the Battle Armor in two with your blade. Now all that’s left is the helmet.”

Chen Shihu: “…”

‘So it’s my fault?’

Chen Shihu’s thoughts shifted.

‘Wait, is there something wrong with this woman’s head?’

‘Not only did that man abandon her and run away first, but she was still thinking about stripping off this Taisui Battle Armor to give to him, nearly getting herself killed in the process…’

‘What kind of epic, once-in-a-generation romance is this?’

At this moment, Chen Shihu was even more curious about the man.

‘What kind of man could make a Nvba with such terrifying combat power fall so deeply for him that she can’t pull herself away?’

Chen Shihu’s gaze inadvertently swept over the sword wound on Bai Chuchu’s chest. He couldn’t help but frown slightly and ask, “What’s the story with that sword wound on your chest?”

The Black Armored Combat Corpse was bare-handed just now; it didn’t use a sword.

This sword wound looked a little strange.

Bai Chuchu said casually, “My husband stabbed me.”

“Your husband stabbed you?”

Chen Shihu couldn’t quite believe it and had to ask again.

“Yes.”

Bai Chuchu said, “My husband didn’t do it on purpose. Why are you so surprised?”

“…”

Chen Shihu’s eyes went wide, and for a moment, he was speechless.

‘Does such a woman really exist in this world?’

‘She hasn’t been put under a spell, has she?’

Seeing that Bai Chuchu was unwilling to talk to him, Chen Shihu took the hint and stopped asking questions.

The two of them walked one after the other, heading toward the northern side of the Longling Mountain Range.

After walking for a while, Bai Chuchu suddenly frowned, stopped in her tracks, and turned to stare at Chen Shihu. “Why are you following me?” she asked coldly.

Chen Shihu cleared his throat and said in a low voice, “Don’t misunderstand, miss. My army’s camp is in this direction.”

“Oh.”

Hearing this, Bai Chuchu’s expression softened slightly, and she turned to continue walking.

In no time, the two had left the Longling Mountain Range behind.

Chen Shihu hadn’t planned on getting any more involved with Bai Chuchu, but when he saw that she was heading toward Wu Country, he couldn’t help but feel a little suspicious.

She was a powerful being, a Nvba with a special status, and she had a strange temperament. If she were just passing through Wu Country, it would be fine.

But if she decided to stay, she could easily cause trouble.

There were undercurrents swirling throughout Wu Country, and a major incident could erupt at any moment.

If this woman appeared in Wu Country and was manipulated by someone, it would add many more variables to the situation.

With this in mind, Chen Shihu quickened his pace, moved up beside her, and asked, “Where are you headed, miss?”

Bai Chuchu said, “To find my husband.”

‘Most people can’t go three sentences without talking about their trade, but this woman can’t go half a sentence without mentioning her husband…’

Chen Shihu grumbled inwardly, then asked tentatively, “Is your husband in Wu Country?”

Bai Chuchu replied, “He’s just ahead, not far now.”

“Ahead…”

Chen Shihu looked up and was startled.

Not far ahead was the very location of his military camp!

‘Is this woman’s husband a member of the Border Army, or is he just hiding in the camp?’

Chen Shihu remained silent, his eyes narrowing slightly.

The two arrived in the sky above the military camp, one after the other.

Bai Chuchu’s figure descended rapidly.

The camp was Highly Guarded, but the soldiers seemed unable to see Bai Chuchu at all, showing no signs of alarm.

Under Chen Shihu’s watchful eye, Bai Chuchu headed straight for a specific tent.

That tent was not far from his own command tent.

‘Perfect. I’ll meet this man myself.’

Chen Shihu followed closely behind, thinking to himself.

“Greetings, Grand General.”

Seeing Chen Shihu descend, the soldiers near the command tent all shouted in unison.

Chen Shihu waved his hand, gesturing for them to stand down.

Just then, two of his personal guards approached him.

“My Lord.”

One of them said, “Lu Bai came looking for you just now. He said General Yue, General Xiao, and the others are in grave danger, trapped in a large tomb by the Corpse Refining Sect…”

“I know.”

Chen Shihu’s mind was elsewhere. He waved his hand and said, “They should be back soon.”

As he spoke, Chen Shihu walked toward the tent.

Bai Chuchu seemed almost transparent as she passed straight through the tent flap without opening it.

The moment Bai Chuchu went in, Chen Shihu followed right behind her.

Without a word of warning, he lifted the tent flap and strode inside.

This was his territory.

Whether this person was one of his subordinates or just temporarily hiding in the camp, he had no need to be polite!

Inside the tent, Lu Bai was worried about Bai Chuchu and had no mind to cultivate. As his thoughts ran wild, he suddenly sensed something.

He looked up and saw Bai Chuchu suddenly appear in his tent, holding a Storage Pouch in one hand and a Black Helmet in the other.

However, compared to when she had just been summoned, Bai Chuchu now looked extremely weak. Her figure was blurry and almost transparent, as if she might dissipate at any moment.

“You…”

Lu Bai hurried forward, about to ask what happened, when the tent flap was suddenly thrown open and a tall figure burst in from outside.

Lu Bai’s heart jumped.

If someone were to see him meeting a young woman like Bai Chuchu in his tent, it would be more than a little difficult to explain.

“Brother Chen?”

Seeing it was Chen Shihu who had entered, Lu Bai felt slightly relieved.

“Lu Bai?”

Chen Shihu stared, dumbfounded, as if he had just seen a ghost.
