Liliana’s brown eyes trembled several times before finally opening completely. A white light appeared around her heart and vanished in an instant.

Liliana’s gaze finally fell on Lucien, who was now looking at her with deep concern.

"Liliana... you’re finally awake?" he asked.

"How did I get here?" Liliana asked.

"The Crown Prince brought you back. You were unconscious the entire time after he brought you here, and..."

"Where is the Crown Prince?" Liliana interrupted.

Lucien’s brows furrowed slightly at her question. "Your body has only just recovered. You need to rest. The Crown Prince asked me to look after you."

Liliana shook her head.

"Just tell me quickly. What actually happened?" Liliana said, refusing to follow Lucien’s instructions to rest.

"Liliana... the Crown Prince wants you to stay quiet and rest peacefully in your room. Don’t cause any trouble. Get some proper sleep. Nothing will happen to them."

"Them?" Liliana finally asked.

Her brows furrowed even more. Without realizing it, her hand moved to touch the mate mark on her collarbone.

"I’ll check for myself if you refuse to tell me anything," Liliana said before immediately getting out of bed.

"Liliana."

Lucien stopped her by grabbing her arm.

"Your power... isn’t that of an ordinary wolf. Don’t leave your room just yet. The Crown Prince will be back soon."

"Lucien," Liliana said, her tone displeased.

Lucien took a deep breath when he saw the determination on Liliana’s face. He finally released his grip.

Liliana walked toward the window and slowly opened it.

Her eyes swept around her dorm room before shifting to the academy grounds, which looked unusually quiet. She turned around.

"What happened? Why is the academy so quiet?" Liliana finally asked.

Lucien stared at her for a few moments.

"A group of Nightfangs attacked the academy. Someone is controlling them."

"The Crown Prince?"

Lucien shook his head.

"The Crown Prince was only luring them away. But something went wrong. Someone took advantage of an opening created by the Crown Prince and controlled the Nightfangs to attack the academy."

Liliana nodded.

"I’ll go down and help."

"Are you going to use your power?" Lucien asked, stopping her from leaving.

"They’re all in danger."

"Leonhardt?" Lucien asked with furrowed brows. "You’re too—"

"It’s not just him," Liliana interrupted.

"Then who?"

"All my mates. They’re targeting all my mates."

Lucien quickly walked toward Liliana and grabbed both her arms.

"What do you mean? Tell me."

Liliana shook her head.

"Silver. My wolf. He sensed danger approaching them."

Seeing that Liliana’s eyes didn’t waver in the slightest as she told him this, Lucien finally nodded.

"Follow me. I’ll take you to Leonhardt."

Liliana nodded and followed Lucien as he hurried ahead.

They made their way through the dormitory corridors before heading toward the back of the academy.

"Why are we going this way?" Liliana asked.

"There are too many eyes at the front gate. The Emperor must have placed his spies there."

Liliana fell silent for a moment at the mention of the Emperor. She swallowed with difficulty.

"Follow me," Lucien said, immediately grabbing Liliana’s arm and leading her out through the academy’s back gate.

Two tall, sturdy guards with sharp eyes stood watch at the back gate. They looked at Lucien and Liliana for a moment before nodding when Lucien showed them Leonhardt’s symbol.

Liliana didn’t ask anything. Her heart continued to pound rapidly as she thought about her three mates.

"Can you transform?" Lucien asked.

Liliana nodded.

"Yes."

"Um, we need to move quickly. These Nightfangs go a little crazy when they smell a female wolf."

Lucien transformed into a golden wolf and raced toward the depths of the forest.

Liliana hurried after him, transforming into a silver wolf and running alongside Lucien.

Meanwhile, Vincent Ardent and Xavier Laurent were fighting a group of Nightfangs in front of them.

Vincent let out a loud howl, ordering his pack members to retreat.

Upon hearing Vincent’s howl, his pack members howled in response and quickly withdrew.

Unlike Pack Ardent, whose members were still all intact, Pack Laurent had suffered some losses. Xavier and his pack had been pushed to the brink while trying to lure the Nightfangs away from the academy.

They had been holding out for an hour, and nearly all of them had died before Pack Ardent arrived to help.

Xavier let out a loud howl, ordering his remaining pack members to retreat immediately and follow Vincent.

They nodded and answered his howl before rushing after Vincent into the depths of the forest.

Xavier watched his pack members leave before turning his gaze toward the horde of Nightfangs in front of him. More and more kept coming, seemingly without end.

His breathing was ragged. His body was already covered in numerous scratches from their claws.

Xavier snorted as he stared at them, then leaped high toward the cliff beside him.

He quickly ran, trying to evade the Nightfangs still chasing him in a frenzy.

The Nightfangs’ howls grew louder and louder behind him, while his legs had already buckled several times.

Xavier wasn’t someone who cared about the life or death of another pack’s members. However, for the sake of a few of his own pack members, he could only give Vincent a chance to escape with their people.

He kept running, trying to evade the Nightfangs that continued to pursue him relentlessly.

"Damn it," he cursed. "How can my abilities really be this terrible?"

Xavier stared at his legs for a moment.

"Damn it," he cursed again.

His ability to transform was almost exhausted. His strength had also been completely drained.

Xavier stared at the dark forest ahead before swallowing hard.

He could escape and let his pack members die in his place. But Pack Laurent was truly different from other wolf packs.

His pack members’ loyalty wasn’t easily earned. It wasn’t based on the Alpha blood of Pack Laurent flowing through his veins. He could only rely on his own abilities to save them.

Only by owing him their lives would they truly become loyal members of the pack he hoped to build in the future.

And this was both an opportunity and a gamble he could take.

Xavier looked at his fingers again as they began transforming into human fingers.

"Damn it!" Xavier cursed for what felt like the hundredth time.

"I’ve only made one bet. How can I already be losing my own gamble?"

Crack!

Xavier’s body finally collapsed. He had completely transformed back into a human.

Breathing heavily, he looked behind him.

The group of Nightfangs was getting closer.

Slash!

Xavier’s eyes trembled before finally closing.
