Chapter 77: Remove that mate mark as soon as possible

"Vincent," Liliana called.

Vincent swallowed, trying to endure the stinging pain that still spread from the wound on his right leg.

Liliana’s mind raced as she tried to recall what might be preventing Vincent’s body from responding properly to her power. Back in the secret realm, hadn’t her wolf’s power worked perfectly on Vincent’s body? Then what was different now? How could her power seem incapable of healing his wounds?

Liliana’s eyes suddenly lit up. "Vincent... that stone. The gray stone you brought back from the secret realm. Where is it?" she asked hurriedly.

Vincent looked up at her. "The stone?"

Liliana nodded.

"The gray-"

Vincent raised his hand and pointed toward the members of his pack who were still lying on the ground.

"I must have dropped it over there. That Nightfang attacked me suddenly while I was in my human form."

Xavier, who didn’t understand what the two were talking about, immediately walked toward the place Vincent had pointed out. He searched for a while before finally finding a gray stone among the grass.

"Is this it?" he asked as he approached and handed the stone to Liliana.

Liliana accepted it. She stared at the stone for a few moments before finally nodding.

Without wasting any time, she placed the stone in Vincent’s hand and began channeling her healing power into him again.

One second.

Two seconds.

Liliana’s suspicion turned out to be correct.

The white light emanating from both her hands quickly spread into the gray stone. It then covered the entire surface before finally flowing into Vincent’s body.

The wounds on Vincent’s body began to disappear. His previously torn skin slowly dried before being replaced by new skin.

However, the power didn’t stop at Vincent’s body.

The members of Vincent’s pack lying around them began showing the same reaction. Their wounds gradually closed until their bodies were completely healed in a short time.

Lucien, who had been examining the dead Nightfang’s corpse, finally turned around. His gaze immediately landed on Liliana, who was still using her power on Vincent.

His forehead creased as his eyes shifted from Vincent to the other pack members whose conditions were also improving.

He immediately rushed to Liliana’s side and pulled both her arms away from the gray stone.

"Stop!" he shouted.

Liliana flinched and immediately looked up at him.

"Lucien? What are you doing?" she asked, sounding slightly displeased.

Vincent, whose condition had improved considerably, quickly sat up. He looked back and forth between Liliana and Lucien, trying to understand what was happening.

"Do you realize that you’re also using your power on Vincent’s pack members?" Lucien finally asked.

Liliana and Vincent looked at him, clearly unable to understand what he meant.

"They..." Xavier said from beside Vincent, pointing toward the pack members lying behind them.

Lucien frowned. He immediately used his power and put all of Vincent’s pack members back to sleep.

In an instant, those who had just opened their eyes fell asleep again.

"You’re sharing your power with them through Vincent," Lucien explained. "Let’s rest here for a while."

Vincent looked at the gray stone still in his hand, then shifted his gaze to Liliana before finally nodding.

"But your wounds..." Liliana looked at Vincent’s body, which still had a few remaining injuries.

"My condition is already much better. This is enough. Don’t use your power on me anymore. Your true identity might be exposed," Vincent interrupted.

Xavier said nothing. Instead, he turned around and immediately walked toward his pack members lying on the other side.

There were about twenty-eight members remaining, and all of them were still alive.

"I owe you a lot this time," Xavier said.

Vincent smiled faintly as he looked at him. That arrogant wolf’s strength was clearly much weaker than his own and Lucien’s.

"You really owe me a lot this time."

Xavier turned and looked at Vincent without saying anything. After a while, he walked back toward Liliana and sat beside her.

"Thank you for today as well," he said.

Liliana nodded.

"You’re still my mate, and I have a responsibility to protect my mate’s life."

Xavier took a deep breath. His eyes briefly glanced at Lucien and Vincent, who were now lying down with their eyes closed. After making sure neither of them was paying attention, he slowly reached into the pocket of his academy uniform.

"This is for you," he said, handing her a red hair clip.

Liliana looked up at the item, then at Xavier’s face, her expression filled with disbelief.

Was this really the same arrogant wolf who had once refused even when she wanted to mark him?

Xavier cleared his throat softly.

"I don’t know why the Moon Goddess chose me to be one of your mates. Although my strength is far weaker than that of your other three mates, I’ll do my best to help you in the future."

He paused briefly before continuing in a lower voice.

"At least until I find a way to remove the mate mark from our bodies."

Liliana looked at Xavier’s now-reddened face. The color was almost identical to his red wolf’s fur when he transformed.

She nodded and accepted the hair clip.

Vincent, who had remained silent all this time, finally snorted.

"You’d better find a way to remove that mate mark as soon as possible. Otherwise, you’ll be the first one to die at the Crown Prince’s hands," he added.

Lucien nodded as well. He opened his eyes and glanced at Xavier.

"Although your strength is fairly impressive by academy standards, you’re truly the weakest among us. Your pack isn’t much different from Cassian’s either. Your strength might not even compare to his."

His gaze sharpened.

"You’re truly unworthy of being Liliana’s mate."

Xavier didn’t answer. However, his hands resting at his sides slowly clenched into fists.

His pack was indeed not much different from Cassian’s exiled pack. The alpha had even lost the also ability to suppress their pack members using their own wolf power.

Liliana simply smiled calmly.

"Being weak isn’t your fault. Having a weak pack isn’t your fault either. At least you still have a pack to protect you."

Xavier stared into Liliana’s brown eyes without blinking. A few strands of her white, shimmering hair were blown by the wind, covering part of her face.

Xavier’s heart pounded for a few moments before he finally nodded and lowered his head.

His eyes narrowed, and the uncertainty in his gaze slowly gave way to a sharper determination.

A few moments later, the members of Vincent’s and Xavier’s packs began waking up one by one.

Although Liliana hadn’t healed the wounds of Xavier’s pack members, they still had enough strength to protect themselves.

"Young Alpha!" one of Xavier’s pack members called out, immediately kneeling before him.

Xavier nodded.

"Are you alright? Your wounds..." one of them asked with a worried expression.

"Lucien gave me some healing medicine. My condition is much better now."

Xavier then tossed two boxes of medicine from Liliana toward them.

"Use these. Distribute them evenly. We’ll continue our journey shortly before returning to the academy."

Xavier’s pack members looked at him, then at the two boxes of medicine he had given them. They finally nodded together.

"Thank you, Young Alpha."

Xavier looked at his pack members, who were now kneeling before him.

For the first time, there was no hesitation in their eyes when they addressed him as their Young Alpha.

Liliana smiled faintly.

However, just as they were about to continue their journey, Lucien suddenly stood up.

"Wait. They’re coming."
