The More I Invest in My Wives, the Stronger I Become

Chapter 110: The Man Her Mother Waited For

  • Next Chapter

Zephyra slowly approached her mother, her eyes fixed on the man sleeping peacefully on Morwenna’s lap.

She had seen her mother treat many people with kindness, but this was different. Morwenna was gently stroking the man’s hair, her expression filled with a tenderness Zephyra had rarely witnessed.

Unable to hold back her curiosity any longer, Zephyra stopped beside the bed.

"Mother, who is he to you?"

Morwenna raised her eyes toward her daughter.

For a moment, she remained silent. Then she looked down at Daemon and smiled.

"Even if I told you who he was, you wouldn’t believe me."

Zephyra frowned. "Then how am I supposed to understand anything?"

Morwenna chuckled softly.

"All I can tell you is that he is the man I’ve been waiting for over four hundred years."

Her eyes shimmered with emotion as she gently brushed Daemon’s hair away from his forehead.

"After all this time, he has finally returned. And look at him now, sleeping peacefully on my lap like a baby."

Zephyra stared at her mother in disbelief.

"Mother, stop avoiding my question! I want a clear answer, not another mysterious reply."

Morwenna simply smiled.

"To me, he is everything."

She paused before continuing.

"And as for you, I expect you to treat him with the respect he deserves. When the time comes, you’ll understand everything."

Zephyra puffed out her cheeks.

Why does Mother always speak in riddles whenever I ask her something important?

She wanted to complain again, but Morwenna had already turned her attention back to Daemon.

Feeling ignored, Zephyra folded her arms.

Morwenna noticed her daughter’s expression and finally laughed.

"Come here, my little princess."

She patted the empty space on the other side of her lap.

Zephyra’s annoyance disappeared at once. She hurried over and rested her head on her mother’s free lap, closing her eyes as Morwenna wrapped an arm around her.

For a little while, neither of them spoke.

Zephyra enjoyed the familiar warmth of her mother’s embrace. No matter how old she became, those quiet moments always reminded her of the days when she had been a little girl.

Morwenna gently stroked her daughter’s hair.

"Zephyra, there’s something important we need to discuss."

"Hmm?" Zephyra replied without opening her eyes.

"You need to start taking your royal responsibilities seriously."

Zephyra’s expression changed slightly, but she continued pretending to be comfortable.

"From now on, you must pay more attention to political affairs. You should learn how the kingdom is governed, understand its problems, and take part in important decisions."

Morwenna’s voice remained gentle, but her words carried the authority of a queen.

"Elarion will need a new queen one day, and that queen will be you. You must be prepared to shoulder that responsibility when the time comes."

Zephyra remained quiet.

"Do you understand?"

There was no answer.

Morwenna looked down and discovered that her daughter had closed her eyes even more tightly.

"Zephyra?"

Still nothing.

"You aren’t asleep, are you?"

Zephyra deliberately kept her breathing slow, pretending that she had already fallen asleep.

Morwenna sighed.

"You really haven’t changed."

A small smile appeared on her lips. Despite her daughter’s habit of avoiding serious conversations, she cherished these moments with her.

After a brief silence, Morwenna glanced at Zephyra and decided to change the subject.

"By the way, when are you going to introduce your boyfriend to me?"

Zephyra’s eyes flew open.

She immediately lifted her head and stared at her mother.

"Wait, Mother! How do you know about him?"

Morwenna smirked.

"I know everything about you—where you go, what you do, and whom you meet."

Zephyra sat up straight.

"Mother! You can’t stalk your own daughter! That’s embarrassing!"

Morwenna tilted her head as though considering the complaint.

"But I can."

"That’s not the point!"

Zephyra looked at her mother helplessly.

"How am I supposed to have a private life if you keep watching everything I do?"

Morwenna laughed at her daughter’s reaction.

"Fine, fine. I’ll try not to embarrass you in front of him."

"You’d better not!"

Zephyra pointed a warning finger at her mother, making Morwenna smile even more.

Then the morwenna asked, "Why don’t you bring him here tomorrow? I’d like to meet him properly."

Zephyra blinked.

"Really? You want to meet him?"

"Of course. I want to know the man who managed to capture my daughter’s heart."

A happy smile spread across Zephyra’s face.

"Alright, Mother. I’ll bring him tomorrow."

She was pleased that Morwenna had agreed so easily. She had expected her mother to ask dozens of questions or make the meeting more complicated than necessary.

Instead, she seemed genuinely interested.

Zephyra glanced toward Daemon again.

She wanted to ask again, but she knew she would receive another mysterious answer.

For now, she decided to wait.

After spending some more time with her mother, Zephyra finally rose from the bed.

"I should get going, Mother. i still have matters to attend to, and I don’t want to disturb you any longer."

Morwenna nodded with a gentle smile.

"Alright. Don’t forget to bring your boyfriend tomorrow."

"I won’t!" Zephyra replied cheerfully.

Once the door closed, silence returned to the room. Morwenna lowered her gaze toward Daemon, who was still sleeping peacefully on her lap.

Time passed quietly.

Daemon continued resting on the bed, his body finally recovering from the pain he had endured. The suffering he had absorbed from Roxanna had pushed him beyond his limits, but his condition had gradually stabilized.

Several hours later, his fingers moved.

His eyelids slowly opened, and he stared at the unfamiliar ceiling.

For a few moments, he couldn’t understand where he was.

Where am I?

He tried to sit up, only to notice the warmth beneath his head.

His gaze shifted downward.

He was resting on Morwenna’s lap.

Daemon froze for a moment.

Then he carefully raised his head and looked around.

The chamber was spacious and luxurious. Elegant furniture stood against the walls, while beautiful ornaments decorated the shelves. A large dressing table stood near one corner, covered with delicate accessories and personal belongings.

The room clearly belonged to a woman of high status.

His eyes returned to Morwenna.

She was sleeping beside him, leaning against the corner of the bed. Her long hair rested over her shoulders, and her face looked peaceful.

Daemon stared at her silently.

She stayed beside me all this time?

He hadn’t expected her to remain there for hours just to let him rest comfortably.

A faint smile appeared on his face.

Daemon lowered his eyes.

I ended up troubling Morwenna again.

He looked at her sleeping face and sighed quietly.

I should at least thank her after she wakes up.

However, before doing anything else, he remembered the system’s capabilities.

He turned his attention inward.

System, show me Morwenna’s complete status.

The system responded immediately.

[Host, your bloodline synchronization has reached the required 25% threshold. You are now eligible to view the complete status of qualified targets.]

So I can finally see her full profile?

[Affirmative, Host. Your current bloodline synchronization meets the requirement. You may now analyze the target’s complete status.]

Daemon’s expression grew curious.

He had known Morwenna for a long time, yet there were still countless things about her that he didn’t understand.

Alright. Show me everything.

[Analyzing the target’s complete status...]

Daemon focused his attention on the system.

Let’s see what secrets you’re hiding, Queen Morwenna.
