The Most Arbitrary Wizard

Chapter 327 - 160: "Great Again!

Pulente, however, was different. His rallies were the polar opposite of quiet and serious. The moment he got on stage, he would play music—the kind of rousing rock with inspiring lyrics and a powerful, rhythmic beat. This often became a point of attack for his political enemies, who called him vulgar and unprofessional. But to the general public, it was seen as a way of connecting with the people, a very down-to-earth gesture.

On top of that, Pulente almost never used a script for his speeches; they were all improvised. His gradually intensifying tone, combined with the rock music that also slowly built to a crescendo, was incredibly inflammatory. He had even managed to convert a heckler—someone who came to his speech just to find fault—into a fan.

So, there was a reason Pulente’s political career had been a meteoric rise.

Although he undoubtedly had backers supporting him from behind the scenes, his own abilities had genuinely earned public recognition.

"Just you wait, you Little Blacks!"

"Mr. Pulente will prove with his actions that he’s the only one qualified to be the Governor of our Siracle State!"

"Hah, you’ll have to ask the eggs in my basket if they agree!"

The crowd argued ceaselessly.

But overall, Pulente’s supporters had the upper hand.

Because there were more of them.

This situation left the Eleanor Sisters, who were watching from the sky, rather perplexed.

"Didn’t they say this Governor’s reputation was terrible?"

"How can he still have so many supporters?"

"I don’t know..."

As the two sisters puzzled over it, someone suddenly shouted excitedly, "He’s here!"

"Mr. Pulente is here!"

At the park entrance, a motorcade of black sedans pulled up smoothly to the curb.

Bodyguards in sunglasses got out of the cars first.

For security reasons, when important people traveled, their bodyguards would always get out first to secure the area before opening the door for their principal.

But Pulente had his own ideas.

Before the bodyguards could do a thorough scan, he opened the car door himself and got out.

The startled bodyguards rushed over, shielding Pulente and scanning the surroundings menacingly.

Just then, the familiar music started.

It instantly ignited the crowd’s passion.

"Mr. Pulente!"

"You have to win another term!"

"We don’t trust any of those running dogs of capitalism except you!"

They chanted Pulente’s name.

Pulente straightened his tie, smiled and waved to greet everyone, and, under the escort of his bodyguards, slowly walked onto the stage.

"He’s got quite the presence, and he does have the air of a Governor," Elise commented sharply. "But he’s a far cry from the Master."

Eleanor: "..."

’Right, right, your Master is the best, the most charismatic.’

「Down below.」

Pulente had already picked up the microphone.

"Everyone, I’m a little nervous. No joke."

That one simple opening line immediately quieted the cheering crowd.

This was another one of the hallmarks of Pulente’s speeches.

He wouldn’t say things like "Thank you for your support." A lot of times, being overly polite could create a sense of distance. While people tend to appreciate courtesy from those they see as peers or subordinates, they often want a figure they admire to treat them more casually, even to rib them a little. It creates a feeling of camaraderie, as if they were old pals.

Pulente had mastered this dynamic perfectly, always speaking in the tone of an old friend.

He said he was a little nervous, but in reality, he wasn’t nervous at all.

Not only was he not nervous, he was completely at ease.

He had given speeches like this countless times before.

Pulente wasn’t worried about people withdrawing their support, either.

This wasn’t just because he had backers who would ensure he won the election no matter what, but also because he was genuinely dedicated to serving the people; he and the citizens of Siracle State were cut from the same cloth...

He had already decided what he was going to talk about today.

First, he would touch upon recent events.

Things in Siracle State had been far from peaceful these past few months.

First, there was the attack on the hospital, then the terrorist attack at the book signing, followed by the plane crash, and not long ago, Florist Castle was taken down as well... These incidents, one after another, had likely left many good, socially-conscious citizens breathless with anxiety.

But did any of that matter?

No, it didn’t.

It was all his political enemies’ fault.

"My friends, have you ever wondered why for the past three years, we all lived well, our society was peaceful, and our families were harmonious, but this year, we’ve been plagued by one disaster after another?"

"Because the governorship of Siracle State is about to change hands."

"They know full well they can’t defeat me in a fair fight, so they resort to slinging mud at me and creating turmoil, all to condemn me for dereliction of duty... But my friends, I ask you to take out your phones and look online."

"Faced with countless doubts and insults, have I ever said a single word in my own defense?"

"No."

"Because I trust that the guilty will expose themselves, and the innocent need no defense. Because I believe that every one of us can think for ourselves, and that this mud they’re slinging can’t blind you. And most of all, because I believe that God is omniscient, and that He sees every single thing I do."

"So there is no need to argue, and no need to prove myself."

"When you set aside the events of the last few months, you will see how much has changed in Siracle State over the past four years—and how many of those changes were made for all of us."

"These facts, now set in stone, tell us everything."

"But don’t get me wrong."

"I’m not saying this to take credit."

"What I really want to say is this—let’s bring back those things we just set aside."

"They happened. They have affected our society and our lives. That is also a fact."
