Chapter 1312: Chapter 581: How Steel Pellets Are Forged
The sentence Lin Li had just said—"I’ll show you mine today, remember to let me see yours tomorrow"—popped up in Chen Yu Ying’s mind in bold, centered, single-spaced Little Second Black.
What on earth is it that Lin Li wants to see!!
Ugh, this is kind of on her, too.
They’ve been dating for so long that the "lover’s beauty filter" is way too strong; she almost forgot about the "pervert" label stuck on Lin Li.
He’s the guy who, when they were still basically strangers, launched into a whole explanation about what exactly Tao Zhe is "tao"ing, like a total pervert.
"Not looking!"
So the instant Lin Li finished speaking, Chen Yu Ying already had her eyes covered and her head turned, hiding behind Lin Li.
"Relax, I’m joking," seeing this, Lin Li chuckled as he defended himself, "I only put underwear in there; the socks are in another box."
Half-relieved, Chen Yu Ying: "?"
"Such a self-disciplined little pervert."
Chen Yu Ying sighed and finally used that nickname she hadn’t called him in ages.
Then one hand pressed down on Lin Li’s hand, while the other reached up to cover his mouth. She lowered her voice: "Mr. Tour Guide, no need to narrate. I’ll look on my own at anything I’m interested in."
Slurp, slurp.
Her palm got licked.
But it wasn’t Lin Li’s first time doing that, and with no one else around, Chen Yu Ying couldn’t even be bothered to shoot him a reproachful look. She just gave him a helpless glance, used his cheek to wipe off the little bit of moisture, then let her curious gaze wander around the room.
Because in a certain sense, this really was her first time in a same-age guy’s bedroom.
Lin Li’s bedroom had nothing to do with chaos or messiness.
That didn’t surprise Chen Yu Ying, nor did she think Lin Li had only tidied up because he learned yesterday that some "Auntie" would be visiting today. Even if this was her first time in the room offline, she’d caught bits of it during their long video calls.
The books on the shelf were lined up neatly, clearly categorized. Besides textbooks and reference books, there were plenty of novels and miscellaneous reads, and even a few obvious automotive repair manuals, the spines still pristine.
The computer desk held plenty of stuff, but everything had its own place; there was none of that cluttered heap-of-random-crap feeling.
The floor was clean too—no visible dust, no stray trash.
Then the corners of Chen Yu Ying’s mouth curved into a smile.
Because in this unfamiliar room, she saw a lot of traces that belonged to her.
On the nightstand sat a small photo frame, holding a picture from their last outing together—she was leaning against Lin Li’s shoulder, smiling sweetly.
In a corner further away were three "light bulbs": two girls laughing, and a dog flipping the camera off.
In the wardrobe, two pieces of clothing she’d picked out and bought were hanging among the others; on the hook outside was the scarf she’d knitted.
And on the fairly smooth-made bed, beside the pillow, that cool bear plushie that matched hers as "couple’s set" was currently having a very good sleep.
It was tucked properly into the dent of the pillow, its little bear body slightly sunk in, head resting comfortably on the corner of the pillow. Its posture was relaxed, and it was very clean; the fur showed no clumping at all, clearly well cared for, with no "used to be tossed in a corner and crushed out of shape" history.
Having no idea that Lin Li had unlocked Cultivation and that washing a small bear could ever be considered troublesome, the girl felt a warm, slightly smug feeling spread through her chest.
"It’s actually pretty clean."
"Being neat is just one of Lin Li’s many trivial little virtues," Lin Li waved it off casually.
Still, cleanliness really is important—first, it boosts your mood; second, it’s good for your health.
According to unofficial history, why do religions have the ritual of baptism? Well, think about it—don’t we usually rinse a cup before we use it? Otherwise what if Zhe gets inflamed, right? Then it makes sense, doesn’t it?
Little boys also have to be washed clean before they can be used.
"But if we’re truly rating hygiene, the one I really admire is still..."
"Shut up!" Before Lin Li could finish, his mouth was covered again. Chen Yu Ying tilted her head and sighed, "No Hell jokes allowed."
Lin Li blinked: "You’ve got to hand it to the ancients—they loved sticking a ’zhi’ between two characters to dissipate poison."
Chen Yu Ying: "?"
Oh my god, it was just a homophone pun.
Then Lin Li narrowed his eyes and leaned in closer to Chen Yu Ying: "So, what exactly was it you were just thinking I’d say?"
"Didn’t think of anything. I was just nipping potential disasters in the bud." Chen Yu Ying huffed.
Like witches Hiroshima Nagasaki high-temperature sterilization, like human soap being used to make Jews—none of that had ever crossed her mind, okay.
The bedroom was only so big; a few steps and she’d seen everything. In the end, Chen Yu Ying chose to sit at the computer desk, picked up a brand new automotive repair manual, flipped through it for a while, then put it down, not very interested, and shook her head:
"You really do have a wide range of hobbies."
Lin Li didn’t respond to that offhand remark. Seeing her still letting her gaze wander around this small space, radiating that "I have nothing to do" vibe, he tipped his chin up and smiled:
"Wanna see what your boyfriend looked like as a kid?"
"Hm? Mm, I do."
Chen Yu Ying immediately turned toward him, staring straight at Lin Li, her eyes sparkling with anticipation.
Lin Li nodded: "No problem."
So Lin Li took one step and flopped onto the bed, upper body stretched over the edge, head resting on Chen Yu Ying’s lap. Then he looked up at the slightly dazed Chen Yu Ying and said, "Mommy~"
