Chapter 69 - 68: Another Savior Organization?
Chapter 69: Chapter 68: Another Savior Organization?
Theoretically, in this woven Secret Realm, the Red Demoness’s Shadow was akin to the core of an Array—and also its strongest point.
As the Secret Realm’s Weaver—and the *only* Weaver—Qin Xiaoxia should have had absolute control over everything, from its Magic Power composition to its spatial boundaries.
So, there shouldn’t have been any phenomena that even he was unaware of.
But aside from its unknown origin, this new variable wasn’t necessarily a bad thing.
This unfinished Statue of Comir seemed to have already begun its ’animation of Order’ ahead of schedule.
This sort of thing had happened before, but it required a combination of many factors: Magic Power, a skilled creator of an Image of Order, the environment, and even luck. Qin Xiaoxia and Doudou had previously believed that the only factor they even came close to fulfilling was Magic Power. They didn’t think for a second that it could happen on Earth, a world with such a ’barren’ environment.
And yet, it was happening. It was as if the statue’s hair was the catalyst for the animation of Order.
Although this added to the mystery, there was an upside: an early animation of Order significantly increased the chances of successfully creating the Statue of Comir.
Seeing Qin Xiaoxia frowning in silence as he stared down at the three busy men and the sculpture in the hall below, Doudou gave his waist an understanding pat with a small, greasy hand covered in potato chip crumbs.
"What’s there to worry about? This is our Secret Realm. It’s not like it’s going to conjure up a living Red Demoness, is it?"
The moment Doudou finished speaking, a strange, subtle prickling sensation crawled across the top of its head.
It cautiously looked up.
And found Qin Xiaoxia staring daggers at it.
"Ha... ha... uh, want some?"
Doudou discreetly removed its greasy hand from Qin Xiaoxia’s clothes and offered him the half-empty bag of chips with the other.
Qin Xiaoxia wasn’t glaring because Doudou had wiped its grimy little hand on him, but because what it had just said was a little too on the nose.
The Red Demoness had been dead for countless years. Besides, this was merely a popular-version Secret Realm created by the Fairies based on contact with her lingering obsession. It was a shoddy, temporary one at that.
’Even if she were to be resurrected, it wouldn’t be now, would it?’
Qin Xiaoxia tried to reassure himself. He couldn’t bear the thought of having to stop the sculpting process now.
Of course, if the source of this anomaly wasn’t someone like the Red Demoness, but some world-ending Evil God or a super demon lord...
...Qin Xiaoxia would have stopped everything in a heartbeat, and probably would have destroyed his work even more thoroughly for good measure.
After all, actually creating a Red Demoness would be a novelty at worst, not something he couldn’t handle. Creating an Evil God, on the other hand, would be a death wish.
...
South Wind stood on the scaffolding, chisel in hand, carefully applying the finishing touches to the sculpture’s face.
As his chisel traced a line, the falling stone dust would often dissipate just a few centimeters from the surface.
That was why, after the initial stages, none of them had bothered wearing masks.
Their faces were tense with concentration as each focused on their assigned part.
South Wind was responsible for the face, Gu Hao for the exposed hands and other limbs, and Zhang Ruliang oversaw the project as a whole.
This was no longer the rough shaping of the initial phase; they had reached the most critical stage.
Each time the figure of the Red Demoness appeared, they would observe it meticulously, striving to make their creation ever more perfect.
They wanted to complete a work of art that could never be surpassed.
They wanted to ’revive’ the Red Demoness of their hearts in sculptural form!
Indeed, the primary cause of the changes in the statue wasn’t an issue with the Fall of the Red Demoness Secret Realm Technique. Nor was it a miscalculation by Qin Xiaoxia and Doudou, or the intervention of some external force.
The root cause was, in fact, the heartfelt desire of the three Artisans: South Wind, Gu Hao, and Zhang Ruliang.
The power of the human soul is undoubtedly far greater than that of the physical body. Its total volume may not be large, but its quality is high. Moreover, the extent to which human desire can expand is sometimes beyond imagination.
From this perspective, it made sense why demons in movies, both Eastern and Western, were so fond of collecting human souls or absorbing the life force of the living.
As for the sculpting materials, while Qin Xiaoxia’s Magic Power was the primary component, some substances impossible to find on Earth had been created via a shortcut, using the transformative properties of Doudou’s wish-granting Magic Power.
This was combined with the Red Demoness’s own obsession with the Order of Truth, which had lingered within this Secret Realm Technique for countless years.
Under these conditions, the three factors combined to produce a change that even the Secret Realm’s controller could not easily detect.
This was, admittedly, something neither Qin Xiaoxia nor Doudou had ever anticipated.
Primarily because in other worlds, the creation of an Image of Order had likely never been done so crudely or unprofessionally.
...
While Qin Xiaoxia and Doudou were on the landing, one lost in thought and the other binge-eating, South Wind and his team were toiling away below, sweat pouring down like rain.
"Pick up the phone~~ Pick up the phone~~~"
Suddenly, Qin Xiaoxia’s phone rang.
Incidentally, Qin Xiaoxia was the only person who could get a signal in this house.
He glanced at the caller ID. It was Su Su.
"Hey, Su Su. What’s up?"
Out of reverence for her great predecessor, Su Su would never call Qin Xiaoxia lightly, no matter how much she wanted to.
At most, she would send a message. A direct call meant it was an emergency.
"Hello! Mentor! Over there—on Baru’s end—they’ve discovered another Savior Organization!! It’s absolutely true! The Nineteen Special Organization Department is going all out to find them right now!!!"
Thanks to his outstanding record and his extraordinary experience in special incidents, Eagle Baru was a top-tier asset in terms of both personal Ability and loyalty, especially after the risk of infection from the ’Crystal Mine’ incident was eliminated. The United States’ Nineteen Special Organization Department had rated him as "top-tier frontline personnel" and formally invited him to join!
And, facing this invitation, Eagle Baru agreed with dauntless spirit and immense enthusiasm.
He had easily infiltrated the "enemy’s" ranks.
The news she was reporting had come directly from him.
"What?! What did you say? Another Savior Organization? What are they like?"
Su Su’s words tumbled out in a rush, as they always did when she was anxious, her voice a mixture of excitement and urgency.
"According to Mr. Baru’s report, someone from the United Kingdom made a special trip to Washington to share a unique email! It’s absolutely true. The general content of the email was..."
After quickly summarizing the email, Su Su couldn’t help but ask.
"Mentor! Are there other Savior Organizations in the world besides our ’Dawn’? Ones that existed in the past? Did they also sense the coming crisis, just like us, and decide to reveal themselves again?"
Qin Xiaoxia was dumbfounded.
"Er... oh. I’ve never heard of anything like that... Let me check the old archives when I get back..."
"Oh, and tell Baru to keep a close eye on this Savior Organization!"
"Understood, Mentor! May the Light of Dawn be eternal!"
"Yes. May the Light of Dawn be eternal."
After hanging up, Qin Xiaoxia had a very strange feeling.
What in the world was that all about?
"’Guardians in the dark’?"
Historically, Dawn had been a considerably capable organization.
Aside from not raising an army to vie for global supremacy against the nations of the era, they had done just about everything else and naturally possessed an astonishingly vast intelligence network.
But there were never any records of another true "Savior Organization," were there?
That whole spiel in the email... why did it sound so much like the original version fabricated by the "ancient swindlers"?
’Could it be that those old swindlers have become something more? Did a few of them survive and decide to keep playing their games?’
Qin Xiaoxia’s interest was suddenly piqued.
’Whether you’re a Savior Organization that actually has power or not, I refuse to believe I can’t find you!’
