The One King
Chapter 95: The Appearance of the Supreme Dragon — The War of the Worlds
Silence descended upon the battlefield.
The only sounds that remained were the ragged breaths of the Foyd family and Leon's weak breathing as he struggled to regain consciousness in Selena's arms.
As for Azrael...
He remained standing before them for several moments.
He did not look at anyone.
Then, slowly, he turned around.
And began walking away.
One step.
Then another.
But after walking several meters, he suddenly stopped.
He lowered his head slightly and said in an oddly calm voice:
"Haah..."
Silence.
Then he continued:
"Now... I feel as though a burden that had weighed upon me for ages has finally been lifted."
He raised his face toward the sky.
"And I feel... relieved."
The words were simple.
Yet they tore into the hearts of the Foyd family more deeply than any anger he could have directed at them.
Liliane trembled.
She pressed a hand against her chest.
He felt relieved after severing his relationship with them.
To her, that truth was more painful than any accusation could have been.
Valer whispered:
"Relieved..."
He lowered his head.
"Then... our existence was a burden to you all this time?"
Azrael did not turn toward him.
As for Lunaria, she closed her eyes as tears began to fall.
"Even after learning the truth..."
she said in a choked voice,
"We couldn't bring him back to us."
Selena, who was still holding Leon in her arms, stared at Azrael's back.
"My brother..."
she whispered.
"Is everything really over?"
He did not answer.
Suddenly...
Azrael's body began rising from the ground.
Everyone's eyes widened.
Ten meters.
Then fifty.
Then one hundred.
Within moments, he was hovering high above the battlefield.
Azrael raised his head.
And suddenly...
A tremendous purple light erupted from his body.
"What—?!"
one of the Alliance soldiers shouted.
Everyone shielded their eyes.
The light engulfed the sky and the earth.
Even the strongest warriors were forced to use their energy to protect their eyes.
Then...
The light disappeared.
Silence returned.
Everyone slowly raised their heads.
But Azrael was no longer there.
In his place...
Something enormous was flying through the sky.
A dragon.
A black-and-purple dragon.
Its body alone stood nearly three hundred meters tall, while its length from the tip of its head to the end of its tail reached approximately five hundred meters.
Its scales were pitch-black, streaked with glowing purple lines, as though violet lightning had been imprisoned beneath its skin.
Its eyes were as large as enormous buildings.
And its wings...
They were so colossal that their span blocked out a portion of the sky.
The dragon beat its wings.
WOOOOOOOM!
A tremendous storm exploded in every direction.
Trees were uprooted.
Rocks were hurled through the air.
Soldiers were forced back dozens of meters.
Even some of the most powerful warriors had to stabilize themselves with spiritual energy.
One of the Alliance soldiers shouted:
"This... is impossible!"
Another said while trembling:
"Is that... his true body?!"
Meanwhile, the Golden General and the Flame General, the commanders of the Shura Clan's armies, raised their heads toward the dragon.
There was no fear on their faces.
Instead, there was something closer to absolute reverence.
The Golden General said:
"Our Lord..."
The Flame General smiled.
"He has revealed his true body."
On the other side...
The Foyd family stood speechless.
Liliane stared at the dragon with tear-filled eyes.
She knew that this terrifying creature was her son.
Yet she could not stop herself from thinking:
When did my son become like this?
She could no longer see the child she had carried in her womb.
Nor the young man who had searched for his family.
Instead, she saw an existence that had lived for billions of years, died four times, and crossed ages beyond her ability to comprehend.
She whispered:
"Azrael..."
Valer raised his head.
"My son..."
His voice carried a mixture of pride and pain.
"What kind of life did you live to become this?"
Lunaria said nothing.
She stared at the dragon with profound longing.
And Selena...
Her eyes shimmered.
"He's incredible..."
Then she smiled sadly.
"He's really my brother."
But after a moment, she realized that this magnificent brother...
no longer considered them his family.
High in the sky...
The dragon moved his enormous head.
He looked down at the millions gathered below.
Then his eyes settled upon the Golden General and the Flame General.
He opened his mouth.
And when he spoke...
the heavens trembled.
His voice was deep, savage, and majestic, as though it had emerged from the depths of the ages:
"Subjugate these ants as quickly as possible."
The Alliance armies froze.
Then he continued:
"As for me..."
He lowered his head slightly.
"I will personally subjugate the Central Empire."
Shock spread throughout the battlefield.
Then he continued:
"After that, I will subjugate the remaining fronts."
The soldiers' eyes widened.
One of the Alliance commanders said:
"He... is going to intervene personally?"
A terrified soldier answered:
"If he intervenes..."
He looked toward the sky.
"How many people will die?"
Another said:
"The entire Central Empire could be reduced to ruins!"
Meanwhile...
The morale of the Shura Army soared.
The soldiers raised their weapons and shouted as one:
"GLORY TO THE SUPREME ONE!"
"GLORY TO THE SHURA!"
"GLORY TO THE SUPREME ONE!"
"GLORY TO THE SHURA!"
Their chants spread across the battlefield like thunder.
It was not merely a military chant.
It was closer to collective worship of an existence they regarded as being above everything.
The Golden General raised his sword.
"Soldiers of Shura!"
They shouted:
"YES!"
"Did you hear our Lord's command?!"
The earth trembled beneath their roar:
"WE WILL SUBJUGATE THE WORLD!"
At that moment...
The dragon opened his mouth once more.
Everyone stopped chanting.
Azrael said:
"We have taken far too long to subjugate this world."
He paused.
Then said:
"We also have two other worlds."
Everyone held their breath.
"We will wage war upon them..."
His voice lowered.
"A war between worlds to subjugate them."
This time...
No one cheered.
A terrifying silence descended.
The soldiers looked at one another.
One of them said:
"Two other worlds?"
Another answered:
"But... there are no other worlds."
A third soldier spoke with a trembling voice:
"There are."
He raised his eyes toward the sky.
"Two worlds."
Whispers began spreading throughout the millions.
"A war between worlds...?"
"Is he planning to wage war against the heavens?"
"Does he mean the Divine World?"
"Will he invade the realm of the gods?"
"What about Hell?"
"Will the demons emerge into the mortal world?"
"Does he intend to subjugate both the gods and the demons?!"
The more the whispers spread...
the greater the terror became.
For the Divine World and Hell were not merely distant lands.
They were separate worlds, ruled by beings far beyond the comprehension of ordinary mortals.
Elsewhere...
The Foyd family listened.
Valer's face turned pale.
"My son..."
He raised his eyes toward the dragon.
"He plans to fight the gods?"
He swallowed hard.
"My God..."
Liliane placed a hand against her chest.
"He wants to wage war against the Divine World..."
she said in a trembling voice.
"He wants to invade it."
She looked toward the sky.
"How far has time taken you, Victor...?"
As for Lunaria...
After several moments of silence, she said:
"If my brother Azrael is the one doing this..."
She paused.
Then smiled faintly despite the tears in her eyes.
"Then perhaps he will succeed."
Selena turned toward her.
"You're not afraid?"
Lunaria looked at the dragon.
"Of course I am."
Then she added:
"But I have seen what he can do."
"He has lived for billions of years."
"He has died four times."
"And returned each time."
She raised her eyes.
"After all that... who can say that he will not succeed?"
As for Selena...
She could not hide her excitement.
"Oh my God..."
Then she smiled.
"This is incredible!"
Valer and Liliane looked at her in surprise.
Selena laughed softly as she wiped away her tears.
"My brother Azrael fears nothing."
She clenched her fist.
"He will subjugate the gods!"
Valer looked at her.
"Selena..."
But she did not back down.
"I know he no longer considers us his family."
Her voice lowered.
"But I am still his sister."
Then she looked toward the sky.
"And I will always be proud of him."
As for Liliane...
She could say nothing.
She simply stared at the dragon.
Pride.
Love.
Guilt.
Longing.
All of those emotions collided within her heart at once.
High above...
Azrael spread his wings to their full extent.
Their enormous shadow covered a vast portion of the ground.
Then...
He beat his wings.
BOOOOOOOM!
A tremendous storm erupted.
The earth trembled.
Dust and debris filled the air.
Millions of people retreated while raising their arms to shield their faces.
Then the black-and-purple dragon shot toward the horizon at terrifying speed.
He was not heading toward an ordinary battle.
He was not heading toward some small kingdom.
He was heading toward the Central Empire.
The first target on his path toward subjugating the entire Mortal World.
Millions watched his enormous silhouette disappear into the distance.
Until finally...
he vanished beyond the horizon.
Yet his words remained engraved in everyone's minds:
A war between worlds.
From that moment onward...
the conflict was no longer merely a war for control over the Mortal World.
It had become something far greater.
The road toward a war that would reach the Divine World... and Hell... had begun.
