The Peerless Beauty Stuck With Me
Chapter 1812 - 1810: Game of Wits
"You're really thick-skinned, huh? I invited you to dinner out of respect for Jing Yi, but I didn't expect you to bring a chatterbox along."
Tang Rao's words and actions caused dissatisfaction in the man, but Chen Jingyi sat beside them, appearing unaffected.
"What's wrong with being a chatterbox? You just don't get it. Where I'm from, guys like me are called outgoing young lads. A young lad like me can find many partners in North Island. Can you do that here?"
Tang Rao, are you serious? Eight partners? Why doesn't he just brag himself to death?
"Hey, buddy, what's your name? The girl beside you is quite pretty; is she your niece?"
Calling her his sister might've been easier for the man to accept, but calling her his niece? That was hard to swallow—does he look that old?
"You're not worthy to know my name!"
The man was a bit annoyed, but fortunately, Chen Jingyi was sitting right next to him, and just a glance from her made him calm down immediately.
"Oh dear, I'm really so scared! You're quite the strange one, aren't you? I'm complimenting the girl for being young, and you're unhappy about it? I get it. You must think the girl beside you is too old to match you, right?"
If the man couldn't pick up on such a typical instigation, then he might as well not be human.
"If you keep talking nonsense, watch out or I'll cut off your tongue. Do you believe me or not?"
The man, like performing a trick, pulled out a knife from himself, flicking it up and down, almost grazing Tang Rao's face.
"Jing Yi, don't listen to this madman babbling nonsense. I've never thought of you as old. In my heart, you are the most beautiful, and no one can surpass your beauty. I hope you know my genuine feelings."
After intimidating Tang Rao, the man turned to apologize and speak sweetly to Chen Jingyi. As long as Jing Yi didn't misunderstand him, he'd be willing to do anything.
Chen Jingyi held chopsticks in hand, the tips occasionally shaking in the bowl. If she were simply having a meal, she'd never act so rudely, unless she was angry.
"I don't know you at all."
Chen Jingyi thought for a long time and finally said this sentence.
Her voice was soft, giving a feeling akin to eating marshmallows, gently sweet.
Her appearance and voice combined was truly perfect.
"We're almost getting married but you still don't know me? Jing Yi, don't joke with me in front of outsiders."
When Chen Jingyi said she didn't understand the man at all, a flash of panic crossed his face.
"I'm not joking with you. You're so changeable that I truly don't know you at all. About us getting married? I hope you consider my reputation before saying such things."
Although the Divine Realm is relatively open, reputation is still seen as more important than life by some people.
"Jing Yi, what do you mean?"
Few have ever heard her speak so much; Chen Jingyi being able to say so much in one go is evidence enough.
"My intention should be clear. What I mean is that the idea of us marrying has always been your unilateral thought and has nothing to do with me."
Chen Jingyi was dropping a bombshell, and the more Tang Rao listened, the more delighted he became. His fortune seems almost divinely blessed.
"Well, well, I could tell from the first glance that you two don't have the look of a married couple. Turns out you aren't truly in love."
No wonder Chen Jingyi dislikes this man. From the look of him, he's unappealing, whereas someone as ethereal as Chen Jingyi would never be interested in a man like that.
"Mind your own business! Get lost; this seat doesn't welcome you. Waiter, get him out of here; he's seriously disturbing our meal."
The man realized the gravity of the situation; continuing like this would certainly worsen his relationship with Chen Jingyi.
Chen Jingyi's words had already embarrassed the man, and if he kept losing face in front of others, his pride wouldn't mean a thing.
"We're all here to spend money, only fools wouldn't make a profit. I gave twenty Purple Crystals to the waiter when I came in; let's see if he's listening to you or me now."
Tang Rao wasn't bragging; he simply had money to spare. He didn't mind playing the role of a generous person sometimes; at least when money was given out, people were amicable to him.
Having money can buy peace of mind; it's worth it!
"Waiter, this person is severely affecting the atmosphere of your shop. For the sake of your store's continuation and good business, I suggest you kindly ask him to leave."
Tang Rao, like the man, beckoned the waiter over and gave him orders.
If the waiter ignored the man, his attitude towards Tang Rao was excessively eager.
"Brother, our shop is small and can't accommodate such a big Buddha as you. I suggest you find another place to eat; we won't charge you for this meal."
To flatter Tang Rao, the loss of a meal wouldn't bother their boss; they might even commend the waiter for doing well.
After all, on the first day of work, the waiter had undergone training, knowing who to suppress, who not to offend, and who to network with.
Want to last long in this job? You must have perception and distinguish people, or your job might be lost any day.
"What do you mean by that? Not charging me means you're slapping my face and looking down on me? Does any of us lack ten Purple Crystals?"
A mere ten Purple Crystals; for Tang Rao, it's trivial, and similarly for the man.
The man also took out ten Purple Crystals, "It's just ten Purple Crystals; here, kick him out for me!"
Hahaha!
Tang Rao almost burst out laughing.
Both are ten Purple Crystals; from Tang Rao's hand, it brings respect and dignity; from the man's, it's an insult.
Whose hand it's taken from is obvious at a glance.
"Sorry, please leave!"
The waiter looked disdainfully at the Purple Crystals in the man's hand, his gaze devoid of any envy.
A gentleman loves wealth but takes it righteously; he didn't care about the money at all.
"Humph, what gives you the right to ask me to leave? I'm a paying customer; whether I leave or not, can a mere waiter decide?"
The man's pride couldn't hold anymore—actually, it's fair to say his face was completely gone.
Angry and ashamed, he was determined to give the waiter hell and show who's more influential among them.
"Miss, your choice is so wise. You need someone whose competence is greater than their temper. If you're muddled enough to marry this guy, your future days won't be good!"
