The People's God: Sacrificing Trillions to Ascend

Chapter 1002 - Unleashing Everything

  • Next Chapter

The Light God King watched his divine realm descend into chaos, and his fury boiled over. Terrifying pressure erupted from him, transforming into countless arrows of light that stabbed down θπον τηε βαττλεφιελδ.

His core units, the Light Mages, weren’t harmed by the light arrows. Instead, the arrows amplified their light attribute. Han Wu and Jing Jing’s skeleton sea was a different matter, though. The Purification carried within each arrow burned the skeletons to ash.

Han Wu and Jing Jing weren’t fazed in the slightest. The skeleton sea tactic thrived on overwhelming numbers. For every skeleton that fell, 10,000 more rose to take its place.

Han Wu’s army consisted of more than skeletons alone. He still had his locusts.

Under his command, the Nuclear Locusts he had bred carried vials of Giant Spinal Fluid in their mouths and dove toward clusters of buildings throughout the divine realm. The instant they found a concentration of Light Mages, they crushed the vials. Their bodies expanded a hundredfold, and their Self-Detonation power increased by the same magnitude. One gathering point after another was wiped off the map.[1]

The Light God King issued a decree without hesitation. “All units, gather your Light Energy and form Holy Shields.”

Throughout the entire divine realm, every Light Mage manifested floating shields of holy light around them. Each shield could block one fatal blow and possessed extremely high durability.

The Light Mages, who excelled at offense but lacked defense, had transformed into tanky bruisers. With the Holy Shields active, they sounded the horn for a counterattack. Layers of wide-area Divine Skills descended upon them. Buffed to their limits by Haste, Regeneration, Super Regeneration, Light Enhancement, Sword Samba, and more, the Light Mages abandoned long-range casting entirely. They condensed Light Energy into melee blades and charged the invaders.

Han Wu watched this unfold in shock. Who would have guessed that the Light God King’s core units could pivot into melee bruiser mages?

Light Mage casualties dropped sharply, while Han Wu’s units began suffering heavier losses.

The Light God King relished the shift and laughed mockingly. “Han Wu! Your tactics are nothing compared to stacking multiple Divine Skills!”

Han Wu assessed the situation and responded immediately with his own decree.

Through the gate behind him, more powerful life forms emerged. Dark Locust, Sword God Akanzor, Bow God Bart, the Greed Neo Vampsprite, the Sloth Machinedrasprite Fortress, War Angel Alita, and even the Scorching Dwarf Hammie answered his call. Every elite Microcosm unit he had aside from the dragons charged into battle.

They used their formidable strength to hold the front line and temporarily stop the Light Mages’ counterattack while the weaker units retreated behind them.

The Light God King was baffled. What is this? The cannon fodder isn’t soaking damage and splitting fire. Instead, the elites are protecting them. This is a suicide tactic. Once the elites run out of stamina, Han Wu will be finished.

Under the Light God King’s decree, the Light Mages fought with even greater ferocity.

Han Wu had withdrawn his weaker core units for a reason. At the Light Mages’ current level of power, those units couldn’t even scratch them. Keeping them on the front line would only increase his losses. As such, he gathered and ordered them to pool their energy and activate their totems. In an instant, over 100 billion projections of Han Wu sprang to life from those totems.

Han Wu issued another decree. All 100 billion totem projections were to unleash Formation Might in unison. The totems varied in strength, and so did the projections they produced. They were all Han Wu, however.

United by a single mind and one purpose, their Formation Might was extraordinary. A colossal projection of Han Wu took shape, gripping a massive sword in both hands.

Under Han Wu’s control, all the energy in the surrounding heaven and earth rushed into the blade.

“Heaven-Earth Severance!”

The devastating strike landed.

The Light God King’s divine realm didn’t have Stasis protecting it and suffered catastrophic damage. The ground split apart, the sky fractured, volcanoes erupted, glaciers collapsed, and even tsunamis swept across the land. One natural disaster followed another.

These calamities had all been triggered by Heaven-Earth Severance.

Light Mages who weren’t even within the strike’s direct range were still caught in the cascading disasters and suffered devastating casualties.

The attack exhausted every last iota of energy from Han Wu’s ordinary units. Once it ended, he had no choice but to send them back to his divine realm to rest.

The Light God King spent a massive amount of Divine Points to quell the disasters and stabilize his realm. When he sensed the casualty rate throughout his divine realm, his expression turned ugly.

The strike itself hadn’t exceeded Subcosm power. It had, however, unleashed the forces of heaven and earth and triggered multiple natural disasters. The combined damage pushed Light Mage casualties beyond ten percent. In raw numbers, more than 10 billion Light Mages had been wounded or killed by that single blow.

The losses were staggering. Even if the Light God King wiped out Han Wu’s units it still wouldn’t make up for the damage.

“I will kill you!” the Light God King roared.

The Light Mages felt their God’s fury and went berserk. They squeezed every ounce of hidden potential in them and unleashed attacks far beyond their normal limits.

Han Wu’s elite Microcosm units struggled to hold the line. They fought as they steadily retreated. Their numbers were simply too few.

That was when Jing Jing stepped forward, and her Soul Jurisdiction’s authority erupted. The skeleton sea that she and Han Wu had built together surged toward the massive army of Light Mages. It resembled a colossal tsunami, with countless skeletons and bone weapons flickering in and out of the churning waves.

The Light Mages fought back desperately. Their Holy Shields held for a time, but they couldn’t withstand the near-endless barrage crashing down from within the skeleton sea. Large numbers of Light Mages fell and became part of it, causing it to expand yet again.

At its center, a throne of white bone appeared. Jing Jing sat upon it. The Skeleton Queen’s majesty was blinding.

The Light God King ordered his Light Mages to fall back and then cast a Divine Skill. He summoned the Holy Mountain known as Blazing Cliff. A towering peak erupted from the ground, every inch of it radiating the power of the light-attribute Purification and the fire-attribute Incineration.

The skeleton sea’s waves crashed against the Blazing Cliff, and countless bones were burned to ash.

Jing Jing changed tactics without hesitation. Under her control, the skeleton sea rose into a wall of bone as tall as the Blazing Cliff itself. She then constructed bridge after bridge of bone between the wall and the Holy Mountain. Countless skeletons sprinted across those bridges to reach the other side and slaughter the Light Mages behind the Blazing Cliff.

If those skeletons broke through, a second skeleton sea would form beyond the Blazing Cliff. The Light God King couldn’t let that happen. He unleashed his pressure once more and turned it into countless light arrows aimed at the bone wall. If he toppled it, the skeleton sea would never cross the Blazing Cliff.

Han Wu’s thinking mirrored the Light God King’s. If he could destroy the Blazing Cliff, the skeleton sea would surge forward unchecked and crush every last unit under the Light God King’s command.

In the next instant, he drew Peerless. All of his Microcosms appeared behind him and wrapped around him like ribbons, pouring their energy into him.

Han Wu possessed relatively few Microcosms, but each one was incredibly dense. They were far beyond ordinary Microcosms, and the total energy they provided was enormous.

His Conversion Jurisdiction converted all of that energy into Divine Points and poured them into Peerless. The entire blade blazed with brilliant light.

“Dragon Slayer! Starfall!”

The two techniques erupted in rapid succession. Starfall normally produced hundreds of millions of energy blades. Empowered by Dragon Slayer, that number exploded into the billions.

High above the battlefield, light arrows and energy blades collided in a devastating exchange.

The bone wall and the Blazing Cliff both shattered under the onslaught. The skeleton sea surged forward once more. Its waves rolled over the Blazing Cliff’s ruins and spread deeper into the Light God King’s divine realm.
