The People's God: Sacrificing Trillions to Ascend

Chapter 1046 - The Divine Civilization’s Chosen One

  • Next Chapter

The pressure radiating from Di Zangtian was immense. Even a Macrocosm fighter like the Death God King was struggling. Di Zangtian was an ancient monster beyond his level.

Still, Han Wu was his Holy Son and had contributed enormously to the Death Faction. If the Death God King couldn’t protect him, he could never show his face again.

He pushed his Death Energy to the absolute limit to shield the people behind him.

Xu Hai stepped forward. His Subcosm power was useless in direct combat, but combat had never been his specialty. As he activated his Wisdom Jurisdiction at full power, a strange energy spread outward and seeped into Di Zangtian’s Chaos Energy.

The mighty Chaos Energy started disassembling itself, separating back into ten separate elemental Jurisdiction energies. The pressure on the Death God King eased dramatically.

Di Zangtian’s rule-breaking intrusion into the duel forced Wealth God King Zhao Zihong’s hand. He’d wanted to stay out of it, but this had truly gone too far. The impartiality of the contract was at stake. If he kept turning a blind eye, the reclusive families would think the Wealth Faction was weak.

Zhao Zihong descended into the arena. His aura formed a membrane between the Death God King and Di Zangtian, temporarily separating their energies. The pressure on the Death God King vanished instantly.

Di Zangtian glared at him. “You want in on this too, little Zhao?”

“Elder Di, this duel was conducted under my verification. Di Bin’s interference was one thing, but your presence crosses the line. I’d appreciate it if you gave me some face and let this matter rest,” Zhao Zihong said evenly.

“Bullshit! The Chaos Clan members don’t die for nothing!” Di Bin snarled, emboldened by his ancestor’s presence.

Zhao Zihong smiled with disdain and raised a hand. A crisp slap echoed across the hall. Everyone heard it. It didn’t hurt, but the humiliation was staggering.

“I’m speaking with Elder Di. Nobody asked you to interrupt,” Zhao Zihong said.

The authority in his voice left Di Bin momentarily speechless. Then he remembered his ancestor was with him. He had no reason to fear Zhao Zihong!

Before Di Bin could do anything, Di Zangtian pressed a hand on his shoulder to silence him. “You dare slap my descendant in front of me? Has the Chaos Clan been quiet so long that you think we’re pushovers?”

His words alone radiated killing intent. The Chaos Clan had laid low for a long time. With the Divine Civilization in upheaval, this seemed like the perfect time to return to the stage. If the Wealth Faction could serve as a stepping stone, all the better.

“I’d never think that,” Zhao Zihong replied calmly. “By the way, the Wealth Faction recently welcomed a few honorary directors. Let me introduce them. This might be a good time for you to reminisce with them too.”

Gates opened around him, and powerful auras stepped through one after another.

Ye Feng, the ancestor of the Forest Clan. He was a Macrocosm fighter. Behind him loomed the projections of three colossal Divine Trees.

Lu Sansi, ancestor of the Creation Clan. Even though he was somewhere in the middle of the Mesocosm rank, behind him stood a Macrocosm mechanical construct that served as his personal bodyguard.

Long Qi, ancestor of the Ancient Dragon Clan, was also a Macrocosm rank fighter. He was one with his dragon form, and he had hundreds of Mesocosm Great Dragons as his units.

Any of these three could match Di Zangtian. Beyond them, several more fighters emerged. None had reached Macrocosm rank, but each stood at peak Mesocosm. Their families were well known in reclusive family circles.

The appearance of so many powerhouses at once triggered a cosmic phenomenon. The Will of the Divine Civilization itself projected down and settled onto Zhao Zihong’s body to investigate.

Han Wu trembled behind the Death God King. The combined pressure of these powerhouses overwhelmed him. He’d thought he was close to the Divine Civilization’s peak, but he had clearly been mistaken. In front of these monsters, though, he was nothing but a child playing in the mud.

The Death God King was struggling too. He was practically the weakest of these Macrocosm fighters. It wasn’t a disgrace, though. These ancestors had lived for ages longer than he had. Reaching Macrocosm at his age was already an extraordinary feat.

Di Zangtian’s face darkened as the auras of multiple peers locked onto him. He assumed that the Wealth Faction was weak. It seemed he was wrong.

More concerning, however, wasn’t the appearance of these ancestors. It was the Will of the Divine Civilization choosing to descend upon Zhao Zihong.

The Will of the Divine Civilization was the civilization itself. Out of everyone present, the Will had picked him. That meant Zhao Zihong was the Divine Civilization’s chosen one. If Zhao Zihong wanted Di Zangtian trapped, there was no way he could leave.

After much contemplation, he forced a smile. “I was only joking, boy. There’s no need to take it so seriously. Since the agreement was signed, the Chaos Clan will honor it. No objections.”

The groveling drew quiet snickers from the assembled ancestors. A fighter of his age and caliber, yet he still had to bow before his juniors. The humiliation had to be unbearable. Regardless, even if Di Zangtian was ready to die, he had to think about the Chaos Clan. He was the strongest and most senior member left in the family.

“Since Elder Di agrees, then everything is settled,” Zhao Zihong said amiably, ever the merchant.

With that, he ruled in Han Wu’s favor, pointedly declaring that the duel’s victor bore no responsibility. He even warned that the Wealth Faction would answer on Han Wu’s behalf if the Chaos Clan ever sought retaliation.

Di Bin and Di Zangtian’s faces were like dark thunderclouds, but they had no choice but to swallow their resentment down.

Before they departed, Di Bin took Di Hong’s body. He didn’t bother with Lei Bing’s corpse. It wasn’t certain whether he forgot in his rage or simply considered Lei Bing an unworthy dog. Either way, it didn’t matter.

Han Wu finally exhaled after they left. He survived!
