The People's God: Sacrificing Trillions to Ascend
Chapter 1074 - Killing Long Lin
With Long Xiang’s agreement, Han Wu no longer bothered to conceal the killing intent in his gaze. Long Lin’s skin crawled under his stare. The only part of him that still showed any defiance was his mouth. “I’m warning you. Inside the arena, you can’t summon your titans or your locusts. Your Yinglong King doesn’t stand a chance against the Great Dragon race. Right now, I’m the only one who can fight them! Do you understand that?”
Long Lin’s composure shattered completely as Han Wu slowly advanced. “Stay back! Don’t come any closer! Long Xiang, stop him! He’s lost his mind! Briarscale, protect me!”
Every step felt like one of those towering titans crushing down on his heart.
Long Xiang kept watch on the two Great Dragon contestants. To his surprise, neither made a move. Instead, they watched Han Wu and Long Lin with open curiosity, eager to see whether Han Wu would actually eliminate his own teammate. Long Xiang couldn’t help but reflect that the urge to watch drama was universal among all intelligent races.
Long Lin’s Briarscale Dragon King dragged its wounded body upright and tried to block Han Wu’s path.
Han Wu fixed it with a single look. “Do you want to die outside the match too?”
Han Wu couldn’t use his Divine Jurisdictions and had no energy at his disposal, but his aura alone was enough to pin the Briarscale Dragon King in place. To the dragon, the figure before it wasn’t small at all. He might as well have been a titan capable of crushing it underfoot at any moment.
The Briarscale Dragon King was a Great Dragon with high intelligence. After hearing Han Wu’s threat, it understood that it couldn’t protect its master, nor did it dare try. It promptly collapsed to the ground and played dead, pretending that its injuries were too severe for it to stand.
The act was so crude that everyone present saw through it, especially Long Lin. The Briarscale Dragon King he had painstakingly raised had abandoned him when it mattered most.
His mental state shattered completely. If I can’t trust my own core race, whom can I trust?
With the Briarscale Dragon King no longer blocking his path and the two Great Dragon contestants content to spectate, Han Wu had all the room he needed.
“Stay away from me! If you touch me, the Ancient Dragon Clan won’t let this go. I swear it!” Long Lin retreated as he hurled threats.
Unfortunately for him, Han Wu wasn’t the least bit afraid. He closed the distance one step at a time until he stopped right in front of Long Lin. The pressure finally became too much. Long Lin’s knees buckled, and he collapsed to the ground. Terror had stripped away the last of his resistance.
Han Wu didn’t give him a second chance. He seized Long Lin by the hair and struck the side of his neck with the edge of his palm. Although he couldn’t use his Divine Jurisdictions or draw upon his strength, years of honing his combat techniques made his bare hands more than sufficient to sever the neck of someone barely stronger than an ordinary person.
Long Lin’s head separated from his body, and his projection died amid bitterness and disbelief. As his projection faded, his Briarscale Dragon King lost its connection to its master and dissolved as well. In reality, both of them were perfectly fine. However, the fear Han Wu had instilled in them would last a lifetime.
Outside the arena, every spectator who had witnessed Han Wu kill his own teammate sat in stunned silence. As far as they understood the Great Dragon Championship, teammates were allies. No matter how badly an ally performed, killing them was unthinkable. In all the years the Championship had been held, infighting had never occurred. Han Wu had just given the Ancient Dragon Clan an unprecedented first.
Long Qi watched closely from the highest seat. After watching the clan’s strongest young contestant die at Han Wu’s hand, he showed no anger. Instead, a faint smile crossed his face. “Han Wu... Truly worthy of being the guest I personally invited.”
Long Lin’s father rushed onto the platform with his son in tow, demanding that Long Qi deliver justice and restore Long Lin’s honor. Without intervention, the boy would carry the shame of being killed by his own teammate for the rest of his life.
Long Qi shook his head. “I think what Han Wu did was right. If I had been his age and encountered a pathetic bully like Long Lin, someone who could only throw his weight around within his own camp, I wouldn’t have stopped at killing him once in the Championship. I would’ve killed him again outside it.”
Long Lin trembled from head to toe, terrified that Long Qi would actually follow through.
At the sight of the boy’s gutless display, Long Qi turned away in disgust and waved a hand at the father. “Take your son and get out of my sight.”
Long Lin’s father obeyed without a word.
Long Qi turned his attention back to the arena. Only Han Wu and Long Xiang remained on the Ancient Dragon Clan’s side, leaving two contestants to face four Dragon Kings. By any measure, defeat seemed inevitable.
“Unless you’re still hiding something I can’t see through?” Long Qi murmured as he stared at the screen.
