The People's God: Sacrificing Trillions to Ascend
Chapter 998 - Soul-Body Fusion
Han Wu stepped out of the Wisdom God King’s office. He had obtained intelligence on the Light Faction, along with Sun Qingnian’s advice.
Sun Qingnian suggested that he speak with both women about their plans for the future. The key was to meet each of them separately.
Han Wu thought that it made sense. As such, he called Qin Shuang first, and after she accepted, he teleported into her divine realm.
Dark clouds stretched across tens of thousands of meters inside Qin Shuang’s divine realm. Lightning flashed across the sky, and thunder rumbled like war drums. The ominous atmosphere made Qin Shuang’s terrible mood unmistakable.
The moment she saw Han Wu, Qin Shuang rushed forward and wrapped her arms around his waist. “You’re mine. I’m not sharing you with anyone.”
Han Wu smiled and patted her head. There had been a time when he had nothing to his name. Poor and constantly struggling, he had rejected all romance. With nothing in his pockets, how could he dare step into such a glamorous world? With empty hands, how could he dare hold someone close?
Through his own efforts, Han Wu had risen to a level comparable to a God King. He now possessed the wealth, strength, and influence to support the life he wanted. That was why he finally dared to accept Qin Shuang’s love. He had chosen her, and her worries were completely unnecessary.
“Don’t worry. I’ll handle everything,” Han Wu said as he reassuringly patted her head.
Qin Shuang nodded. “I’ll work hard too and develop my Divine Jurisdiction as quickly as I can. The Lightning Jurisdiction already has a God King in the Divine Civilization, though...”
“It’s fine. If it comes to a divine war, I’ll fight it for you,” Han Wu replied.
A deep sense of security washed over Qin Shuang. Having a boyfriend willing to take on a God King’s forces for her sake was more than she could have hoped for.
After reassuring Qin Shuang, Han Wu contacted Jing Jing. Once she agreed, he entered her divine realm.
Unlike Qin Shuang’s divine realm, Jing Jing’s was saturated with the aura of death. Every unit here was undead. With her God King ascension, every undead under her received her blessing, making their souls far more solid and stable.
Jing Jing stepped forward to welcome Han Wu. “My God!”
Han Wu felt a clear resistance within him. What he felt toward Jing Jing resembled the protectiveness he had for one of his units rather than romantic love. However, Jing Jing clearly didn’t see it that way.
“My God, now that I am a God King, race is no longer a barrier. May I become your wife?” Jing Jing asked.
“Jing Jing, why are you so determined to become my wife?” Han Wu asked, somewhat confused.
“I love my God.”
Han Wu tried to explain. “That sounds more like admiration than love.”
Jing Jing shook her head stubbornly. “That is love. Does my God not love me?”
Han Wu didn’t know how to answer that. Of course he loved Jing Jing, just not romantically. His feelings were much closer to a father’s love.
“I do love you, but...”
Before Han Wu could finish, Jing Jing’s face lit up with joy. “My God loves me! Then I can be your wife.”
“I already have Qin Shuang,” Han Wu said firmly.
A trace of sadness crossed Jing Jing’s pale face. As the Skeleton Queen, she had her own dignity and will. She would never share a husband with someone else, yet she refused to give up on Han Wu.
After a moment of thought, Jing Jing replied, “I won’t make things difficult for my God. I can wait. The Crystal Skeleton race’s lifespan far exceeds a human’s. I’ll wait until Qin Shuang passes away, and then I’ll become your wife.”
Han Wu nearly choked. Jing Jing was already looking forward to Qin Shuang’s death!
Han Wu couldn’t help asking, “What if I die first?”
Jing Jing’s eyes brightened even more. “I will raise my God as a skeleton, and you will stay by my side forever.”
Han Wu finally saw the full picture. Jing Jing had latched onto him for good. Whether he died first or Qin Shuang did, Jing Jing would eventually get what she wanted. The situation was strange, but as long as Jing Jing didn’t cause trouble anytime soon, he decided to leave the matter alone.
Seeing that Han Wu had dropped the subject, Jing Jing eagerly introduced the powers she currently possessed.
The Soul Jurisdiction perfectly complemented her identity as the Skeleton Queen. She had only just become the Soul God King, and the Soul Jurisdiction’s development had produced a single effect so far. It was called Soul-Body Fusion.
Its function was to fully merge a soul with its vessel, reaching a state where the soul was the vessel and the vessel was the soul. Naturally, Jing Jing had chosen bones as the vessel.
She was already preparing to refine every bone she possessed with Soul Energy to achieve complete fusion. Once the process was complete, controlling souls would be the same as controlling bones.
Under her command, bones could easily assemble into any shape she desired. They could become weapons such as swords, spears, and halberds, or take the form of races like skeletons. In short, the soul was the bones, and the bones were the soul. The more bones she had, the stronger her soul would become, and the greater her strength would grow.
Jing Jing currently commanded several skeleton-summoning techniques. She could assemble bones into Bone Dragon forms, and she possessed eighteen dragon spirits. When a dragon spirit merged with a Bone Dragon, it created a flawless Bone Dragon with devastating combat power.
She could also shape bones into Skyreach Giant forms, whose defining traits were raw strength and massive destructive power. Beyond that, she could turn bones directly into a skeleton sea that drowned her opponents and left them with no chance of survival.
In short, after her Soul God King ascension, Jing Jing’s strength had increased enormously.
Coincidentally, Han Wu had recently gained some expertise in undead summoning during his time in the White Soul Civilization. After exchanging ideas and research with Jing Jing, he activated his Nether King form and started to make detailed modifications to every skeleton within her divine realm.
The first step involved grinding all the bones in Jing Jing’s divine realm into bone sand. It was far finer than ordinary bones, making it much more practical when constructing forms.
When Jing Jing used the newly produced bone sand to summon skeleton soldiers, the entire process felt noticeably smoother. Soul Energy consumption dropped significantly, and the skeleton soldiers that emerged were even stronger. She felt like she had discovered an entirely new world.
She estimated that if Han Wu grounded every skeleton in her divine realm into bone sand, her overall strength would increase by at least thirty percent. For a God King, such an increase was no small leap.
Han Wu stayed inside Jing Jing’s divine realm over the next few days.
While grinding all the bones into bone sand, he also studied Jing Jing’s soul manipulation techniques. Their combined expertise complemented each other perfectly. Jing Jing’s overall strength rose dramatically, while Han Wu gained a much deeper understanding of souls.
In his Nether King form, the wolf spirits and dragon spirits he summoned reached exceptionally high levels of quality. When attached to their corresponding undead skeletons, they unleashed far greater power than ever before.
Now that they had both grown significantly stronger, they were eager for a battle to prove that their research had been on the right track. At Han Wu’s suggestion, they turned their attention to the enemy: the Light Faction.
