The Plant Master Becomes A Mute Sub-Beast: Farming And Laying Eggs
Chapter 286: Breaking the Seal
Right from the moment the fluctuation of Sane’s Divine Energy radiated out, Kaelen could feel it. Worrying that something happened, he hurriedly used his Divine sense to check. The result actually showed Sane walking back and forth among the ranks of Lyra soldiers with a scowling face, criticizing everything.
Kaelen: "..."
Alright, his mate was a guy with obsessive-compulsive disorder regarding military establishment. That was the reason why after so many years since the four halves of the continent merged, other major powers still could not touch a single corner of Crimson’s land.
Seeing there was no dangerous problem, Kaelen retracted his Divine Energy, looking down at the children in front of him. One night having passed, the children’s moods had also gradually stabilized.
Perhaps they had thought it through... as if.
The moment Kaelen used a wooden puppet to transform into Sane’s appearance, these brats bared their fangs and brandished their claws again. Although they restrained themselves a bit compared to yesterday, the slight killing intent revealed in the depths of their eyes could not deceive Kaelen.
He sighed helplessly, saying:
"We will not work today, follow me to the training ground."
If he did not let Sane beat them to a pulp, they would not know how terrifying the God of War was.
Kaelen led the children through the City Hall’s corridors, heading straight to the large training ground in the back.
Steven bit his lip tightly, the lion ears on top of his head drooping down but his gaze was sharp. Harbet walked beside him, occasionally touching the dagger hilt tucked at his waist, his whole body muscles tensed up like a wolf preparing to pounce on its prey.
When they arrived, striking their eyes was an extremely oppressive scene.
Sane was standing with crossed arms on the high platform. His dark purple hair flew wildly in the wind, his cold silver-gray eyes sweeping across each rank. Below, the over four thousand subordinates led by Godfrey stood solemnly like cast iron statues, their killing intent radiating intensely merging into a dense mass. Completely in contrast to them was the Lyra city soldier formation standing cowering in a corner, their faces ashen, sweating profusely under the strict supervision of this newly arrived Lord Divine Envoy.
Sane glanced seeing Kaelen bringing the children over, the corners of his mouth curling up slightly. He jumped down from the high platform, landing lightly right in front of them without making a single sound.
"Why did you bring them out here?" His gaze swept past the six children as if evaluating a few defective goods.
Kaelen shrugged, saying: "These brats became spoiled because I pampered them too much, thinking they were invincible in the world. I hand them over to you, just leave them with one breath."
Kaelen’s words just ended, Steven could not hold back anymore. He roared once, his sharp claws extending out, stomping forcefully on the ground charging straight toward Sane. Harbet also did not hesitate, drawing his dagger rushing forward to coordinate from the flank. Paul and Brian stepped back, one raising a wooden bow, one narrowing his eyes searching for an opening. Ivy waved her hand, several vines immediately emerged from the ground intending to wrap around Sane’s legs, while Mono carried a compact stone hammer jumping down from above.
The six children coordinated not badly at all, every move aimed straight at fatal points.
Sane did not even bother to draw the magic core-inlaid sword at his waist, also not releasing a single streak of lightning or pressure. He only slightly shifted his body, dodging Steven’s pounce by a hair’s breadth, reaching out to grab the lion boy’s nape securely, throwing him to the ground with a "thud" like throwing a sack.
Right when Harbet lunged forward, Sane only used two fingers to tightly clamp the dagger’s blade, flipping his hand once, Harbet was thrown flat on his back. An extremely light sweeping kick carrying the force of a thousand pounds crashed down, causing Harbet to slide a long distance on the ground.
Ivy’s vines were stomped into pieces by a foot stomp the moment they touched his pant leg. Mono swung his hammer down, Sane used the back of his hand to lightly brush the hammer’s handle, borrowing the force pushing Mono flying backward, slamming heavily into Paul who was preparing to shoot an arrow.
The six children charged forward time after time, but were knocked away before they could even touch the corner of Sane’s clothes. Sane struck both fast and viciously, punching straight into the muscle bundles causing the most pain but absolutely not damaging their bones or internal organs.
"Is this all?" Sane said coldly, stepping one foot on the back of Steven who was trying to struggle up: "Slow speed, weak force, disjointed coordination. If this were a real battlefield, you would have died from the first hundred strikes already."
The six children lay flat on the dusty ground, panting heavily. Their arrogance, stubbornness were smashed to pieces leaving nothing behind.
Only now did they understand the terrifying nature of this man. Not needing the destructive power of lightning, only using pure combat skills honed through tens of thousands of life-and-death battles, he was like a giant mountain they could not possibly overcome.
The entire training ground was dead silent. The Lyra soldiers gulped, while Sane’s subordinates led by Godfrey looked at him with eyes burning with fiery reverence.
Kaelen stepped forward, a streak of jade-green light radiating from his palm, transforming into light raindrops falling gently. The bruises on the six children’s bodies healed rapidly, the aching pain vanished, bringing a refreshing sensation spreading throughout their entire bodies.
The children sat up dazedly, looking at Kaelen, then looking back at Sane. The killing intent and resistance in their eyes were shattered, replaced by genuine awe and submission.
Right at this moment, Sane and Kaelen felt their chests warm up.
The two men closed their eyes. From the six children, from the Lyra soldiers looking at Kaelen with gratitude, and from the over four thousand subordinates of Sane looking toward them with absolute reverence... countless fragile golden light threads were floating up. They intertwined, surged, then converged straight toward the two men.
This was not forced fear, but the worship of strength and sincere gratitude toward the people who brought them light. Absolute recognition.
The power of faith.
Compared to each gently eroding stream of faith Kaelen received, the power of faith Sane received was much stronger.
The surging power flowed into his Divine soul, striking heavily against the densely packed seal chains brought down by the fake Heavenly Dao. Continuous "crack" sounds echoed in his sea of consciousness, the shackles binding Sane’s Divine Energy slowly cracking and breaking apart.
The seal was completely broken, Sane’s Divine Energy was more abundant than ever at this moment. He took a very deep breath, converting half of this pure faith amount, transmitting it straight to Kaelen through their soul contract.
Kaelen paused slightly, feeling the seal inside his body also gradually loosening. He turned his head looking at Sane, his eyes and heart both filled with the majestic figure of his mate.
His God, had returned.
The sky suddenly had a slight vibration, Kaelen and Sane simultaneously raised their heads. Kaelen chuckled: "It is scared."
Sane sneered: "It is right to be scared. Daring to lead us around like walking dogs, wait until finding Its true body, I will definitely beat It until Its mother cannot recognize It."
Finishing speaking, Sane’s gaze slowly looked down at the crowd below. Even though these people provided him with enough power of faith to break the seal, it still could not possibly help him change his view of them.
Unrecycled trash was still just trash!
"Stand up!" Sane retracted his foot from Steven’s back, ordering in a cold voice: "Run fifty laps around the training ground. Whoever falls behind, skip lunch today."
The children gritted their teeth, without a single word of complaint, immediately scrambling up forming a line starting to run.
In the distance, Elric watched this scene, secretly wiping cold sweat in his heart.
This Lord Sane was indeed a combat monster, fortunately he stood on their side.
...
The next morning, when the first light of dawn just appeared on the top of the Lyra city bell tower, the Lyra administrative staff including the six children were already sitting properly at the meeting table in the City Hall.
Steven’s two legs were still trembling from the fifty-lap punishment run yesterday, the majestic lion ears on top of his head drooping down pitifully at this moment. Harbet standing beside him was no better, the gray wolf tail behind his back occasionally twitching once due to muscle cramps.
However, when Sane’s cold silver-gray gaze swept past, all six children immediately straightened their backs, holding their breath, gritting their teeth sitting as solemnly as spears planted firmly into the marble ground.
Sane sat lazily with his legs crossed on the velvet-upholstered armchair, flipping through each pile of reports, his eyebrows sometimes relaxing, sometimes knitting tightly together.
After finishing reading all the reports once, throwing them straight onto the table, he said coldly:
"Kaelen paved a path as soft as silk for you all, but you turned it into a route full of sharp thorns. At this rate, after Kaelen and I leave, Lyra city will return to how it was before, even becoming more ruined."
The whole crowd lowered their faces, no one daring to refute a single sentence. Sane tapped the tabletop:
"The social welfare issue is done relatively well. Price equality is also acceptable, but the problem posed here exactly is that humans are relying too much on non-humans. Humans’ health is not equal to non-humans but in return, they possess more intelligence and astuteness. Yet instead of using that intelligence to catch up with the working speed of non-humans, they play petty tricks, pushing all the work for non-humans to do."
"Where was the Department of Public Security at that time? The Department of Public Security did not accomplish anything proper at all. You have to look front and back before drawing your swords, afraid of saddening this person offending that person. Not to mention the human Public Security staff entirely let the non-human staff charge forward catching criminals, they only take the responsibility of standing and watching then receiving the merits divided for them. You tell me if that is fair to the non-humans or not?"
"Everyone always hangs the word fairness on their lips, but is the truth like that? Elric, you try speaking."
Elric sighed: "We have also thought about this problem, but it is truly too difficult to implement. Non-humans have lived in a weak position for many years, they often submit to humans instinctively, completely not knowing how to refuse work not belonging to their responsibility. Humans still had some wariness initially, but after a period of contact, they have clearly understood this resigned nature of non-humans. Consequently, the City Hall wanting to intervene also does not know where to start intervening from."
Sane patiently waited for Elric to finish speaking, then casting his eyes around once, seeing if anyone else had any explanation to offer. An administrative staff member was fidgeting, seemingly wanting to speak but did not dare to. Sane pointed at him:
"Just speak out whatever you want to say, I do not eat people anyway."
That staff member blushed awkwardly standing up, saying:
"I, I have an opinion, I do not know if it is acceptable or not."
Sane nodded allowing him to speak. That staff member took a deep breath, saying:
"Because non-humans are used to being resigned they forgot what kind of people they are themselves. Humans are used to resigned non-humans so they also forgot the true nature of non-humans. We just need to let both sides re-evaluate the problem."
Sane raised his eyebrows: "Oh, not bad. Then according to you what should we do?"
The staff member trembled: "That... I have not thought of that yet."
Everyone: "..."
Then what the hell did you volunteer to speak for?
