The Primordial demon returns
Chapter 48: Secret Realm Open
Without warning, the colossal golden barrier shimmering across the northern mountain range began to thin, its opaque runic density fading into a translucent, shimmering haze. The blinding pillar of golden light erupting from the valley’s epicenter slowly dissolved, and within seconds, the barrier completely vanished into thin air.
The moment the path cleared, a collective surge of adrenaline rippled through the thousands of gathered adventurers, who charged forward like a tidal wave toward the secret realm’s entrance.
Down on the rocky terrain, the Royal Academy Principal turned sharply toward his disciples.
"Don’t fall behind," the Principal instructed gravely. With a flick of his wrist, he retrieved four intricate, jade-carved talismans from his storage ring and handed one to each of them. The tokens gleamed with a warm, protective white luster, etched with delicate defensive runes and the academy’s crest. "If you face mortal danger inside, this token will automatically shatter, instantly teleporting you back to my side."
Without wasting a breath, the Principal pulled three glowing red ritual flags from his spatial ring and drove them deeply into the earth. Instantly, complex crimson geometries bloomed across the ground, spinning rapidly into an active short-range teleportation formation.
Nearby, the gentleman leader of the Gleam Syndicate—the peak Rank 5 master wearing the silver monocle—swiveled his gaze toward his syndicate members. Stepping forward from the ranks was a striking young woman wearing a sleek, form-fitting black tactical jacket with glowing blue fiber-optic accents. Slung across her back was a heavily modified, high-tech magitech sniper rifle that crackled with condensed kinetic energy, its long barrel resembling a hybrid between a traditional firearm and a rune-carved elemental cannon.
"Keep your monocles active," the gentleman instructed smoothly, adjusting his own lens. "My ocular network is linked directly to all of you. I can project tactical data straight into your minds from afar. Follow my lead to the letter."
The sniper-woman smirked, snapping a crisp salute. "Yes, Master. Rest assured, the best treasures of this realm will belong to our guild."
On the opposite side of the clearing, the golden-haired Beast-Man leader—sporting twitching tiger ears and a brutal grin—flexed his claws. He turned to his hybrid subordinates, his eyes flashing with feral bloodlust. "Listen up! Anyone who stands in our way gets torn to shreds. I want the core legacy treasure of this secret realm, no matter the cost!"
"Yes, Beast Master! We’ll slaughter anyone for you!" his followers roared in unison.
Meanwhile, the elite assassins of the Purple Pigeon guild melted into the shadows, led by a towering figure in a deep purple cloak who summoned an illusionary black velvet throne out of thin air, lazily tossing a jagged assassin’s dagger between his fingers.
Seeing this, the Grand Principal smirked. He stepped forward, casually manifesting an identical, glowing white illusionary chair right in front of the purple-robed assassin leader, sitting down as if he were settling into a parlor.
"It’s been a long time, Eretina," the Principal chuckled, his voice carrying an effortless edge of dominance.
The hooded figure pulled back her hood, revealing a breathtaking face with flawless porcelain skin, piercing ruby-red eyes, and flowing purple hair that shimmered like starlight.
Eretina offered a cold, mocking smile. "Principal Aldous... time truly flies. To think, even after all these years, you’re still stuck as the fifth strongest entity in this pathetic kingdom, while I’ve already caught up to your exact realm."
Aldous laughed, unbothered. "You haven’t changed a bit, you venomous old witch."
"If a stubborn old dog like you hasn’t changed, how could I?" she retorted smoothly.
From the skies above, the magnificent royal gold-plated carriage, pulled by the three massive Dragon-Steed beasts, advanced in heavy, thunderous flight.
Prince Aethelgard and Princess Vespera sat silently within, their elite hundred-man vanguard forming a protective, golden-armored perimeter that shook the very air with rhythmic vibrations.
High above the chaos, hidden securely within the clouds, Ethan looked down at the swarming factions below. They looked less like independent adventurers and more like string-controlled marionettes waiting for him to pull the trigger.
Ethan turned his head toward Rose, his voice cutting through the wind. "Track Lumian. Do not let him escape or use his spatial talismans to flee. When the moment is right, execute him inside the realm."
Rose nodded coldly, her expression unshakeable.
With a subtle mental command, a pair of magnificent, glowing golden wings unfurled from Ethan’s back, crackling with fierce, disciplined golden fire.
At that exact moment, the miniature form of the fire fairy materialized. Sporting flowing crimson hair and a tiny, exquisitely fitted elemental dress, she shrank her ethereal body down until she was no larger than a human palm, gracefully landing and perching upon Ethan’s right shoulder.
"Let’s move," the fire fairy whispered eagerly, her red eyes sparkling. "I can already taste the raw heat of the Red Dust Magic Flame. It’s deep inside the core of the secret realm!"
"Agreed," Ethan murmured.
With a brilliant flash of golden-blue light, Ethan shot forward like a falling star toward the secret realm’s entrance.
At the center of the northern mountain range, nestled deep within a massive, hollowed-out crater of ancient stones, a swirling, ten-meter-wide spatial vortex pulsed with fierce, golden energy. It was the gateway to the secret realm.
Thousands of warriors and mages had crowded tightly around the rim of the vortex, their chests heaving with anticipation, yet not a single soul had dared to step across the threshold first.
