The Primordial demon returns
Chapter 69: Goblin Sovereign
Deep within the suffocating, emerald labyrinth of the Whispering Forest, sunlight was a rare luxury. The towering ancient canopy choked out the sky, leaving the forest floor plunged in a perpetual, damp twilight. The air was thick with the scent of rotting vegetation, damp moss, and the coppery tang of raw blood.
*Rustle... snap.*
A pack of low-tier goblins scurried through the underbrush. They were wretched creatures—scrawny, hunchbacked, with mottled green skin, jagged yellow teeth, and beady, malicious eyes. Armed with crude wooden spears and sharpened bones, they moved with predatory silence, surrounding their prey.
Trapped in a muddy clearing ahead was a massive **Iron-Tusk Boar**. It was a savage, mid-rank beast, twice the size of a normal bull, with thick, armored hide and two ivory tusks that gleamed like polished steel. The beast snorted furiously, pawing the earth as hot steam plumed from its nostrils, ready to charge.
The goblins screeched in high-pitched, chattering voices, closing in for the kill. But they were disorganized, driven solely by instinct and hunger.
Suddenly, a commanding bark cut through the chaotic noise.
"Hold your positions! Stop charging blindly, you idiots!"
Stepping out from behind a thick fern was a creature that stood apart from the rest. He was a **Hobgoblin**, easily standing over six feet tall—towering a full head and shoulders above his packmates. His physique was muscular and densely packed with explosive power, far from the frail frame of a standard goblin. His skin possessed a distinct, ominous **bluish-grey tint**, and most unsettling of all, his facial features bore an uncanny, sharp resemblance to a human—possessing a calculated, cold intelligence in his eyes rather than mindless ferocity.
This was no ordinary monster.
At the Hobgoblin’s sharp command, the lesser goblins instantly halted their chaotic advance, spreading out into a tactical semicircle as he had previously trained them to do.
The enraged Iron-Tusk Boar, seeing the biggest threat, let out a deafening squeal and bolted forward like a runaway freight train, its razor-sharp tusks aimed straight at the Hobgoblin’s chest.
The Hobgoblin didn’t flinch. A cold, sardonic smile played on his thin lips.
*Clang!*
Instead of dodging, he planted his feet deep into the mud and thrust his hands forward, catching the charging beast bare-handed by its massive tusks. The sheer kinetic impact tore deep furrows into the earth beneath his boots, but his muscles bulged, locking the multi-hundred-pound beast dead in its tracks. The boar squealed in sudden terror, realizing its unstoppable momentum had been completely neutralized.
"Too slow," the Hobgoblin muttered in a low, rumbling human voice—a language completely foreign to the chattering monsters around him.
With a ferocious roar, he channeled a surge of dark, raw energy through his arms and twisted upward with violent force.
*CRACK!*
The sound of snapping bone echoed sharply through the silent trees. The Iron-Tusk Boar’s neck was brutally wrenched, its spine shattering under the sheer monstrous strength. The massive beast collapsed into the mud with a heavy thud, kicking up a spray of water and leaves before going completely still.
The surrounding goblins erupted into frenzied, celebratory screeches, swarming the carcass.
"Back off!" the Hobgoblin snapped, his blue-tinted gaze sweeping across the pack with such chilling authority that they instantly scrambled backward in fear, whimpering.
The Hobgoblin walked up to the dead boar, plunged his sharp, clawed hand deep into its bleeding chest cavity, and ripped out a glowing, fist-sized red crystal—the beast’s elemental core. Without hesitation, he tossed the pulsating monster core into his mouth and swallowed it whole. A wave of warm, turbulent thermal energy surged down his throat, spreading into his veins and strengthening his physical core.
The moment the energy settled, a strange, translucent blue interface materialized directly in his field of vision, floating in the dark air.

> **[Notification: Host has successfully consumed a Mid-Rank Beast Core!]**
> **[Absorbing primal energy... Experience threshold reached!]**
> **[CONGRATULATIONS! Host has leveled up!]**
> **[Current Status: Host has attained Level 11!]**
> **[Available Attribute Points: +5]**

A satisfied grin spread across the Hobgoblin’s human-like face. He stared at the floating system panel, a flood of memories washing over his mind.
Only a few months ago, he hadn’t been a monster.
He remembered the sterile smell of a hospital room on Earth, the beeping heart monitor, the fading darkness of his human death... and then, waking up in this cruel, magical fantasy world trapped inside the grotesque, weak body of a newborn goblin slave. It had been a living hell of survival of the fittest, where every day was a desperate fight against starvation, rival monster clans, and merciless human adventurers.
Through sheer tactical cunning, ruthless adaptation, and the mysterious awakening of this game-like ’System’ interface, he had clawed his way up from the absolute bottom of the food chain, evolving from a pathetic green goblin into a dominant Hobgoblin commander.
As he stared at the glowing screen, a secondary prompt flashed before his eyes.
---
> **[Level-Up Reward Unlocked: Beast Trait Assimilation]**
> **[The host may choose one specialized trait from the consumed Iron-Tusk Boar to permanently integrate into his biological framework:]**
> 1. *Iron-Hide Armor (Enhances skin density and physical defense by 30%)*
> 2. *Savage Charge (Grants a short burst of explosive kinetic speed)*
> 3. *Tusk Regeneration (Minor regenerative healing for dental/bone structures)*
---
The Hobgoblin’s eyes gleamed with pragmatic calculation. In this brutal world, defense and raw survival were everything.
"I choose option one," he thought mentally. "Integrate *Iron-Hide Armor*."
*ZAP—!*
A warm, tingling sensation swept across his bluish skin. He felt the microscopic structure of his muscles and dermis shifting, hardening like tempered steel beneath the surface. He clenched his fist; his skin took on a faint, metallic sheen for a split second before returning to its normal blue-grey tone.
He turned his gaze away from the notification panel, looking past the dense, foggy canopy of the Whispering Forest toward the distant horizon where the human kingdoms and great empires lay hidden.
"Level 11..." he whispered to himself, his voice carrying a strange mix of amusement and cold ambition. "My evolution as a monster is just getting started. The people of this world think goblins are nothing more than vermin to be slaughtered for experience points."
He cracked his neck, the sound echoing like dry wood breaking, while his pack of lesser goblins bowed submissively around him.
"Let them keep thinking that," the Hobgoblin smiled, his sharp teeth gleaming in the dim forest light. "Soon, this entire world will tremble when they hear the name of the Goblin Sovereign."
After completing his hunt and pushing his level to 11, the bluish-skinned Hobgoblin led his goblin pack back toward their main camp.
Their camp was hidden deep within the Whispering Forest inside a naturally concealed valley, surrounded by dense thorny bushes and ancient rocks that completely shielded the location from the outside world. The goblins had decorated the place like a grim lair using crude huts and piles of bone remnants.
As the Hobgoblin arrived at the main gate of the camp with his pack, a strange commotion and noise began to stir. The lesser goblins stepped aside, bowing in fear and respect.
Just then, a disturbance broke out from the other end of the camp. Another smaller scouting party of goblins had returned—and with them were several human captives.
"Drag him forward, you pig!" a lesser goblin shrieked in a raspy voice, shoving a human captive forward with a thick club.
The Hobgoblin narrowed his blue eyes and looked toward the commotion. A cold, analytical curiosity floated across his face. He saw that a total of three humans had been brought in as prisoners—two young men with a woman standing between them.
The moment his gaze landed on the woman, his eyes paused for a fraction of a second.
She was no ordinary woman. Although her body was stained with dust and fresh blood in several places, her beauty and presence radiated distinctly. Her hair was a striking **green**, scattered loosely yet giving her the ethereal appearance of a mermaid or a forest goddess. Her eyes were like **deep blue oceans**, burning with an extraordinary stubbornness and fierce anger instead of fear.
She wore the **knight armor and garments** of royal or high-ranking elite soldiers, which had been badly torn in multiple places during a fierce battle. Through the torn clothes and damaged armor, her toned, athletic, and captivating physique was faintly visible—the silhouette of a warrior known for both her beauty and lethal prowess. Despite her tattered attire and disheveled hair, she stood out in that dark goblin camp like a precious gem.
The two young men accompanying her were terrified and trembling, bearing visible injuries. They clearly appeared to be cadets or lower-rank warriors from a human empire’s military academy or knight order, who had likely fallen victim to an ambush by these goblins while patrolling the forest.
Taking long, powerful strides, the Hobgoblin approached the prisoners. Struck by his massive, heavy-set build and his intelligent, cold, human-like gaze, the female knight was startled. She immediately glared at the Hobgoblin with her blue eyes, a mix of hatred and shock flashing across her face.
"A... Hobgoblin? And one that walks with such composure and chilling calmness like a human?" the female knight spoke in a stern, authoritative voice, though her breathing was slightly ragged. "I have never seen such a chieftain among a pack of goblins... What do you people want?"
The Hobgoblin gave no reply. He rested a hand on his chin, scanning the female knight’s appearance and energy from top to bottom. A new thought sparked within him—the sudden appearance of human knights and cadets deep in their territory couldn’t possibly be a mere coincidence.
A slight, cunning smile curved his lips, and the runes etched across his blue-grey skin faintly flickered.
