And they all got surprised by the death of their team member, so they got together and looked around, but it’s too late.

Another arrow came and hit the head of the healer.

The shield man came to the front, took a defensive position, and looked around.

Then ice attacks began to fall on them, and they saw me and immediately got into position, and the attackers rushed toward me.

"You sneaky bastard! I will kill you today!"

They thought I’m an archer, so they rushed me.

I smirked at that, got my sword, and looked at them. "Okay. Let’s see you try."

I didn’t wait for them to attack me. I started attacking them first. I used my sword and got momentum by pushing myself to the front and attacked him with a clean sword arc that contains dark flame.

His eyes widened, and he immediately blocked my sword, and the other guy used that moment to attack me. I grinned at that and tried to get a step back, but an arrow came from a distance, so I got stuck in that position.

I cursed inwardly and got slashed by the swordsman. I got my other sword out, gritted my teeth, and attacked him in return with a massive dark flame sword slash.

It cut that person and left a massive wound in him, and fire began to burn the wound and let him experience unbelievable pain.

The other guy tried to go and see his friend’s condition.

Ah, what a touching moment. Then my eyes went cold, and I attacked the distracted person with my other sword.

It still contains my black flame and dealt massive damage to him. He began to scream, and when he looked at his team he saw they all got dismantled one by one.

Then I didn’t let their despair moment go to waste. I killed them both. I don’t care how much they care for each other or what kind of sob story they have. It’s them or us.

Nyx came to my side and said, "Two more to go. Let’s go and find another two and go into hiding."

I nodded with a smile and corrected her. "Not hiding, Nyx. A great person like me never hides. We are going to take a tactical retreat and find a place and defend the flags."

She just sighed, put a hand on her forehead, and said, "Whatever makes you happy."

I nodded with satisfaction. "That’s more like it."

Then we moved through the forest with efficiency, keeping a close distance so that if someone attacks us we can help each other.

We searched everywhere for more flags but no luck, so I stopped Nyx. "Wait. It’s a waste running around like that. Let’s take a rest, Nyx," I said to her.

But she looked at me and said, "But what if time..."

I stopped her, opened the tower mission icon, and showed her there’s more than 10 hours left until the end of the tower.

"If we rush things now and waste our stamina we are going to lose as soon as we meet some powerful team, so conserve your energy and let’s go. Don’t let the mission cloud your judgement. Keep a cool head."

She nodded. "Thanks. I got panicked because after a long search we haven’t found any flag."

I nodded and said, "It seems other teams went to them before us, so we only have the choice to go and hunt them for flags."

She nodded and pointed at a huge mountain and said, "I feel like on top of that mountain there is a flag."

I looked at it and nodded. "I feel like it as well, but what can we do? We can’t fly, Nyx. If we waste our energy on climbing and still don’t find any flag, that’s a complete waste."

"We have another choice. Let’s go hunt other teams and get the flags. We can’t take that risk here."

She nodded. "It’s a good thing you keep a cool head, Asher."

I nodded, chin up to the sky, and said, "Of course. I always say it and you didn’t understand my greatness."

Nyx just sighed. "I take it back and remember to never praise you again."

I glared at her, and she laughed.

I protested. "You’ll see my greatness one day. Then you’ll see. Humph."

She smiled at that and said, "I doubt it will happen like that, but I believe I can see your cunningness and idioticness."

I tried to rebut, but my perception caught something, and without even thinking I pushed Nyx and fell to the ground with her.

An arrow passed that position. Nyx sensed that too, but before she acted I acted in that moment.

I immediately looked in the direction the arrow came from, and my eyes went absolutely chilled.

I looked everywhere for the person and saw another arrow come from a tree.

"Found you."

I deflected the arrow with my sword and pushed myself to the front, augmenting myself with aura.

Nyx observed the situation as well and looked for other members, and she went as well with herself augmented in aura.

I coated my sword with a thick aura layer, and I didn’t climb the tree. I cut the tree with one move.

The tree cut like a piece of butter.

The person who was on the tree tried to jump to another one, but I expected that and waited for him to do that.

As soon as he jumps I locate his direction, augment myself with aura once again, activate the trait and increase my speed, and push myself toward her as well.

I gripped my sword in one hand, my eyes in a freezing cold state and rage.

My black flame and aura in the sword try to take the dominant position because I haven’t combined them yet. I can’t figure that out yet, so I use both

and attack her with everything I got.

If I didn’t have good perception, Nyx might also avoid it, but she might have gotten injured or died.

That possibility made my rage intensify.

She looked at me coming at her with a burning sword like a devil. Her life flashed through her mind. She froze for moments. When she regained her senses I already closed in on her.

But another attack came from the floor at me — a lightning attack. If I continue the attack I’m going to get hit.

So I used darkness to make a whip and grab the tree and avoid the lightning.

It happened so quick my body worked by itself.

But my eyes never left the archer.

She fell back to the ground, and I saw a man on the ground come close to her and protect her from behind and glare at me with hate.

His body was flashing with lightning, and I can hear Nyx fighting other members of their team.

That girl trembled beside him.

I looked at them. No warmth in my eyes, only coldness. "Oh, you got protected. Let’s see if you can keep that up. You tried to kill Nyx. Don’t expect to live after that."

A devil smile appeared on my face, and I looked at those two like prey to be slaughtered.

That man looked at me with hateful eyes.
