She already understood far, far too much. In her peripheral vision, she saw her clan sisters watching, one by one. There was no resentment in her eyes; she understood their plight.

She was just enduring with all her might, and after half a day of observation,

she even clearly sensed that one of the bandits’ feelings had turned to pity. If she were given a little more time, she felt she could control him.

At the very least, just as her mother had taught her, firmly capturing that man’s heart shouldn’t have been too difficult. ’Unfortunately... it seems I was too late.’

Waves of exhaustion washed over her mind. It was becoming more and more difficult to even keep her eyes open.

She didn’t know if it was a hallucination, but she saw an immortal who had come for her.

His magnificent wings and his handsome, elegant face, contorted with rage, shone with a strange light in her moment of despair, more dazzling than anything she had ever seen.

It was just as every young girl dreams of her Prince Charming, riding a white horse and descending on rainbow-colored auspicious clouds.

Her Immortal Envoy, with an immortal servant in tow, descended with a furious expression. He ignored the stunned crowd, his cold and wrathful gaze fixed on the four bandits.

Before the four could even beg for mercy, green sprouts suddenly began to emerge from all over their bodies. Judging by their appearance, they were the very rice shoots they had eaten.

As the four men struggled in terror and helplessness, they were transformed into four miniature seedling paddies.

Verdant seedlings covered their bodies, sprouting from every pore, swaying slightly and exceptionally vibrant. But the four bandits, now transformed into seedling paddies, were not yet dead.

At this moment, Wang Qian smiled. She looked at the bandits’ horrific state, then at the Immortal Envoy not far away.

The Immortal Envoy seemed to sense her gaze and turned to look. As their eyes met, she used all her strength to flash a captivating smile.

But given her current state and her young age, the smile was utterly heartbreaking. With the sudden release of her taut nerves, she felt exhaustion wash over her like a tidal wave, threatening to drown her.

On the verge of death, she saw her Immortal Envoy stride over to her. Without a hint of disgust, he picked her up and held out his hand with a look of pity.

The Immortal Envoy’s hand transformed into a ruby-like vine, shimmering with a dreamlike radiance. It was so beautiful.

As the jeweled vine that was his arm pierced her chest, Wang Qian, on the brink of death, trembled and her eyes shot open. She stared, stunned, at the elegant, handsome face so close to her own, watching her with deep concern.

His face was full of pity and heartache, but his eyes were exceptionally bright and clear, still holding a trace of anger that hadn’t completely faded.

His magnificent wings were slightly unfurled, the ruby vine in his hand shimmered, and the scene of that moment was etched forever into Wang Qian’s heart—a heart that was at once very mature, yet also very young.

······

Zhang Deming and Qin Shizhong descended toward the site of the disturbance. As they drew near, they sensed an unusually thick stench of blood and the aura of Resentful Spirits.

Qin Shizhong frowned. "What are these remnants trying to accomplish? I could understand robbing cultivators, but why expend so much effort to cause chaos among Mortals? Is it just for the sake of slaughter, to create trouble for the Sect?"

Zhang Deming ignored him and went straight for the place where the stench of blood was thickest—the main hall of the family estate. As he floated into the great hall, Zhang Deming froze.

The great hall was split in two. On one side were the corpses of men who had been tortured to death, their resentful energy filling the air. Well, they were more like severed limbs and torsos.

Blood stained the entire hall, pooling on the floor.

In a corner on the other side huddled a group of helpless womenfolk, who were now staring at him in terror.

And in the center of the hall, three of the bandits were watching the scene with great interest.

Three of them clearly showed deep traces of having been influenced by Mind Guidance, along with a faint sense of True Qi.

Gazing upon the hall, which resembled a Purgatory, Zhang Deming’s face filled with rage. With a raise of his hand, he subdued all four men. At that moment, the young girl was already on the verge of death.

Instinctively, Zhang Deming stepped forward and gathered her into his arms. His arm turned the color of ruby as he began to heal her.

At the same time, he paused. Numerous ruby-colored vines erupted from his body and pierced into several of the surrounding women who had not yet stopped breathing. The Dark Pawn within him pulsed faintly, releasing threads of Vitality.

A Law Level Vine Technique, augmented by the Vitality from the Dark Pawn, was so effective against these Mortals’ injuries that it could nearly bring the dead back to life. As long as they were still breathing, he could heal them completely.

In just a moment, the young girl in his arms had recovered. She stared at him, wide-eyed and stunned.

"Are you feeling any discomfort?" Zhang Deming asked, looking at her.

Hearing his words, Wang Qian slowly came back to her senses. As intelligent as she was, and given her family’s ancestry, she understood what had happened. She had a guess as to Zhang Deming’s identity and realized this was not a dream.

The very first thing she did upon regaining her wits was to retract her arms and utter a single word: "Dirty!"

After speaking, she began to struggle out of Zhang Deming’s embrace.

Her voice was cold and detached, without a hint of emotion. Hearing such a voice from a girl so young, Zhang Deming was momentarily stunned, and his heart clenched.

He didn’t let her go. Instead, he forced a gentle smile and said, "It’s no trouble!"

Then, he raised a hand, and a stream of water like liquid crystal, translucent and shimmering, appeared in his palm. The water slowly coalesced into the shape of a Dragon, which coiled around Wang Qian and washed her completely clean.

When it was done, Zhang Deming smiled again and said, "See? All clean."
