Chapter 124: Chapter 124: I See You as a Brother, but You Want to Be My Boss’s Wife?

"I got here while you were looking down and kicking pebbles." Ruby Forrest’s voice was just like her, sweet and docile.

Wyatt Winslow’s ears turned red. He stepped forward, bent down slightly, and said in a low voice, "I swear, I’ll never swear again."

The surroundings were bustling with noise; Jason Rivers and the others didn’t catch Wyatt’s muttering. Rian Sinclair was closer and had better hearing, so she heard his entire vow. Looking at Wyatt, who was bending down to be at eye level with Ruby, it was clear that his future as a totally whipped husband was already on full display.

Ruby smiled at the young man who was now at eye level with her, reaching out a small hand to ruffle his flamboyant red hair.

Wyatt felt her hand on his head but didn’t mind. He figured the delicate girl just thought his hair color looked cool and was curious. But the moment he pictured her long, straight black hair dyed red...

He shook his head vigorously. No, no way, he would never allow that.

"Ruby Forrest, you are not allowed to dye your hair!"

Realizing his tone was a bit too harsh, Wyatt hastily explained, "I don’t mean you can’t dye your hair at all, I just mean don’t dye it this color. It’d make you look like a punk." After saying this, Wyatt scratched his head in embarrassment.

Hearing this, Ruby just smiled, revealing her cute little canine teeth. "But your hair color is really handsome." Feeling like her words weren’t convincing enough, she leaned her face a fraction closer, her expression turning slightly serious. "It really is handsome, Wyatt."

There were still others racing around them, and the people in the stands were focused on the competition. Yet, to Wyatt, the roaring cheers from the crowd sounded much more melodious than ever before. Under the sunlight, Ruby was so pale she practically glowed. The bright rays blurred her silhouette slightly, but Wyatt could see her face with absolute clarity.

She looked so sweet. Her soft, chubby cheeks must be incredibly fun to pinch.

Although Jason and the others couldn’t hear what Wyatt was saying, their intimate posture was more than enough for them to start teasing. Hearing the catcalls around them, Ruby’s ears turned red. She abruptly pulled her hand back and stood up straight, her fingers unnaturally clutching her skirt.

Watching from the sidelines, Rian thought the sugar content in this interaction was way over the limit. It was sickeningly sweet.

Jason strolled over, a teasing look on his face. "Wyatt, I feel like you’re going to be that ’punk with dyed hair’ your future father-in-law will always complain about."

Ulysses Shepherd rolled his eyes dramatically. "Even when that girl Ruby came over, he had to be reminded. The guy acts like he’s lost all five senses."

Jason slung an arm over Ulysses’s shoulder and chimed in, "Well, who knew? The kid hasn’t used his brain in years. It’s gotten a bit rusty and can’t process things anymore."

The two of them didn’t leave Wyatt an ounce of dignity in front of Ruby. Although they could tell these two were meant to be, they were fully committed to being stumbling blocks on their road to love.

It wasn’t until much later, after Wyatt actually married the girl named Ruby, that he finally realized what his two bros had been doing all along. He would end up strangling them, demanding to know why they made him wait so long to marry his wife.

Jason’s excuse was simple: A single guy like him just couldn’t stand seeing happy couples.

Ulysses would just turn his head, take a sip of his drink, and smile. "You already have someone to protect and deeply love, but the one I love is still out there conquering the world."

Evan Rivers didn’t have much in common with this group of young people, but seeing the pure and sincere love between those two made him a little envious.

Zane Shepherd walked over. Seeing his friend’s expression, he teased, "What’s wrong? Feeling lonely? Want me to find someone for you?"

Evan shook his head. "Why bother?"

Seeing this, Zane didn’t reply at first. But when he noticed Evan’s gaze lingering on Rian, he nudged him with his elbow. "Don’t even look. You can’t handle that one."

Evan couldn’t help but chuckle. He hadn’t even said anything, and Zane was already giving his commentary. But why was she a no-go?

Zane waited for a while but got no response. His expression turned blank. He turned his head to look at Evan. "No way, do you actually want to hit on my boss? How dare you?" He stood up straight and lowered his voice. "I treat you like a brother, and you want to be my boss’s wife?"

Evan frowned at the words. "Why the boss’s wife?"

Zane was almost left speechless by his buddy. Was that really the main point? Was it? He remembered his friend being pretty sharp. How could he completely miss the point like this?

Seeing Zane’s expression, Evan slung a single arm around his shoulder. "I’m just joking. If I were to marry into her family, the old man at home would probably skin me alive."

Zane tried to read Evan’s emotions, but he couldn’t see anything at all. He didn’t know if his friend was just hiding it well or what. But he knew Evan knew what he was doing, so he didn’t pry any further. Looking over at Wyatt and the others, he shook his head. "It’s nice to be young."

Evan looked at him with slight disdain. "Shall we go?"

Zane nodded. After all, this group of kids was definitely going out to play next, and as the "elders" of the group, it was best if they didn’t tag along. After waving goodbye to the younger guys, Zane got into Evan’s car, and they drove away from the mountain pass.

As evening approached, Wyatt gathered everyone for dinner before taking them out for a night on the town. Rian left her Devel Sixteen at Wyatt’s racing club instead of driving it out, opting to ride in Ulysses’s car.

The group parked their cars in front of a club, tossing their keys to the valet. Wyatt then ushered everyone inside. Rian noticed the name of the club. It was quite elegant. Yaz. However, the interior completely contradicted its name. The music pounding through the club was wild and unrestrained, and the people inside were swaying their bodies with reckless abandon. This club was like a wolf in a scholar’s clothing—a high-end brothel operating under an elegant facade.

As Wyatt led the way inside, he shielded Ruby from the pushing crowd. Seeing the girl press her lips together in silence, he muttered in frustration, "I shouldn’t have brought you here."

Hearing this, Ruby smiled and shook her head. "It’s fine."

The others trailing behind rolled their eyes so hard they practically saw their own brains. Wyatt was completely ignoring their struggles in the crowd. Rian, however, didn’t mind. She found this pairing of the sweet girl and the hot-tempered redhead rather adorable.

After walking a few steps, a voice called out from one of the booths. "Wyatt, over here."

Seeing the familiar figure in the booth, Wyatt immediately walked over. After greeting him, he introduced him to the rest of the group. "Rian, this is Noel Sutton. If you’re ever interested in antiques, he’s your guy."

"Nice to meet you, I’m Rian Sinclair."

Noel smiled. "I’ve heard of you."

She didn’t reply further. Noel then greeted Jason and Ulysses. They were all in the same social circle and knew each other well.

Spotting Ruby next to Wyatt, Noel teased with a laugh, "Well, well! Wyatt, you actually managed to kidnap your little childhood sweetheart for the night? Not bad."

Ruby wasn’t embarrassed in the slightest. "Noel, I take it Grandpa Sutton doesn’t know you’re at Yaz tonight?"

Hearing this, Noel immediately brought a hand to his mouth and mimed zipping his lips.

Wyatt gestured toward the person sitting at the head of the booth who had hosted the gathering. The two of them exchanged a nod, but Wyatt didn’t introduce him to the group. They probably weren’t in the same circle, and Wyatt had only accepted the invitation out of pure boredom.

Wyatt led his group to sit in an area closer to their acquaintances. Seeing that there were probably more people yet to arrive, the group started casually sipping their drinks. Ruby, on the other hand, was holding a bottle of AD Calcium Milk. Wyatt had bought it for her. The club didn’t serve juice, so he had to buy it from outside.

It wasn’t long before a man’s voice rang out. "Rachel, what happened? Why are you so late?"
